The kid never looked for traffic on either side and just ran infront of the buss. A passing car would never had any chance to react.
Edit: In my profession I do risk assesments and investigate accidents.

He's alighting on the road. Doesn't matter when you say, "You don't overtake a standing school bus" but you can never know. But this bus is stopped in the middle of the road, possibly to discourage cars from trying to overtake.
