How did he make it look decent on a modern tv? I tried to play star wars racer on my flat panel and it looked like a kaleidoscope.

He probably had a HDMI conversion cable

Do you know of one that has a playable lag????

My Retrotink from retromania is great. Although the volume has a peaking problem that's mildly annoying

They have lag?

Not a lot, but some reviews of different ones say it makes the game unplayable. It takes a fraction of a second to convert then upscale the signal. Some are apparently faster than others.

Only the very expensive ones

Probably one that's over $10

Perhaps he’s running it on an emulator using something such as /r/retropie

My retropie 3b+ can NOT push the N64 emulator to work with GoldenEye. It comes up like a 386.

What's a 386

Intel cpu from the late 80s. Ie very slow

They were snappy at the time, especially when you got the Turbo Button! I could load up Commander Keen off a floppy in mere seconds.

Ayeeee. You can get Keen on android too now if you want to relive it!

Turbo button was trouble too. Poor Pac Man went at about 1000x speed on our system.

That's what happens when you tie game speed to the cpu clock

I remember my brother and I would screw with each other by hitting the turbo button when the other least wanted it. We took turns based on lives, so the sooner they die, the sooner I get to play!

Thank you friend!!

You need more power.

I had this issue on starwars racer. My 2A usb wasn't enough. You need 3A and a good quality USB cable for it to run in high power mode.

You can run retropie on your PC

You can see the 64 just behind him, when he steps to the side. Both controls are plugged in and it’s powered on.

The emulator looks great and plays just the same

Some modern TVs have a setting to “dumb down” the resolution to work better with older consoles.

I play this all the time on a large flat panel TV through an HDMI into a raspberry pi 4 running retropie. No lag, hi res and multi-player works fine.

There's also a really fun VR game called Pavlov where you can play the N64 GoldenEye maps in VR and it's just as awesome as it sounds.

I have my console modded for RGB SCART and feed the signal through the OSSC to the tv. Works great, hardly any perceptible lag outside of the TV's signal processing.
