My daughter is 13, turning 14 soon, and has recently gotten really into makeup. She has a whole organizer with foundation, concealer, lip glosses, eye brushes, mascara, and more. She also wears false lashes regularly and is now asking me for enlarging (circle) contacts to make her eyes look bigger.
I want to support, and I understand that makeup can be a fun and creative outlet. But I canāt help but wonderāis this too much for her age? Iām worried about her becoming too reliant on makeup for confidence or being influenced by unrealistic beauty standards she sees online.
Hereās what she currently has (based on what I can see in her organizer):
ā¢ Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation in the shade 150 rose vanilla
ā¢ Aāpieu Juicy Pang blusher
ā¢ Essence Lash Princess brown Mascara
ā¢ concealers from rimmel multi tasker in shade rose ivory
ā¢ setting powder for elf halo glow light pink
ā¢ Makeup brushes (face and eye brushes)
ā¢ Eyelash curler revlon
ā¢ Eyeliners infallible 600 black and 605 brown
ā¢ Rom&nd Glasting color gloss Lip glosses in shade 01 and 03
ā¢ random makeup sponge
ā¢ Hairbrush and comb
ā¢ lip liner rimmel lasting finish exaggerate in 063 eastend pink
Sheās not wearing full glam every day, but she definitely puts in effort and follows beauty trends. I try not to shame her, but Iām also trying to find that balance between letting her explore and making sure sheās not growing up too fast.
Would love to hear from other parents or even teensā
ā¢ How much is too much at this age?
ā¢ Has anyone else gone through something similar?
ā¢ How do you talk to your kid about balance and self-image without making them feel judged?
Thanks in advance!
