ACTIVITY Project Pan Roulette - November

Welcome back everyone!

Time flows fast- it is time for the November update.

Thank you to u/Berryception  for previously posting the updates of this project.

If you’re new, welcome! This is a rolling-style project, so it can be as long or short as you’d like. This project updates monthly on the 1st of the month. Changes to make this project your own are welcome and encouraged, there are so many different ways of panning! I will have the lists of categories to choose from below.

If you are just starting out, you choose 7 (+/-) categories by randomly generating numbers that correspond to categories on the list. Then you use those categories to choose beauty items from within your collection (i.e. makeup, skincare, nail polish, hair care, fragrance, etc.) and set your goal to be whatever you like (i.e. finish, hit pan, use a certain amount, use a certain number of times, etc.). When you meet a goal, generate a new category and roll a new product in so you always have 7 products going at once!

Here is the google doc with the list of categories used by . Feel free to add/delete categories as you see fit. Shout out to  who had started this project!

🎇 Happy End of 2024! 🎆

🧨 Post your final results below!✨

Goal: Choose 24 products/categories/whatever to focus on in your collection throughout the year. Set usage goals like using so many items up, using an item so many times, hitting a pan on an item, achieving another goal, or fully panning an item.

You can rotate products in or out or keep the same products throughout the year. Make this your own. You can add more or less than 24 items too, it's up to you and your goals. You can have bonus goals too.

Welcome to the first quarterly update for Reverse Rouge 2025!

Reverse Rouge is where we gamify our panning by tracking how much we empty through the year. The more products you use up, the more tiers you move up -- like the Sephora Rouge rewards program, but in reverse! And, of course, it's never too late to join!!! If you only start tracking from this month, that's totally okay :)

Quick links

Current stats

  • 43 participants
  • 739 empties worth $9938.77
Status Minimum Empties Value Number of Users
Beauty Participant $0 14
Beauty Flub $50 9
Beauty Outsider $150 8
VIB Vanquisher $350 8
Double VIB Vanquisher $700 4
Reverse Rouge $1000 0
Penta-Platinum Panner $2250 0

---

Well, hello folks! I'm so glad so many people have joined us for Reverse Rouge! If we put everyone together, we'd fill a small private school's combination cafeteria-auditorium.

Tell all your friends/OOMFs to join us at Reverse Rouge >:)

---

QOTDs:

  1. What have you emptied so far?
  2. Has anything surprised you thus far?
  3. What are you proud of/wanting to improve on?

Or anything else you want to chat about!

ACTIVITY Twelve Pans of Christmas 2024 - Intro

Hi Everybody! I'm u/PrayStrayAndDontObey and I will be hosting the Twelve Pans of Christmas 2024!

If you have no idea what this project entails, here's an overview:

You select twelve items you want more progress on over the next few months. They can be makeup, skincare, haircare, body care, nail polish, or even non-beauty related items. You can either challenge yourself to to hit pan on each product, completely finish them, set usage goals (e.g. x times per month), or have different items with different goals. If you want to challenge yourself, you can choose to only use Winter colours/products that remind you of Winter, even though we are approaching Autumn (or Spring if you live in the Southern Hemisphere). If you want to really challenge yourself, you can make it a rolling project pan.

Normally, this project would start on August 25th and would have updates on the 25th day of each month until Christmas. However, as this project is starting later than usual, the updates will be October 1, October 25, November 25, December 25.

If you don't celebrate Christmas, you can still take part in this project pan!

If you are participating, I will try to tag you in every update post.

Wishing you all the best of luck, and I am looking forward to seeing what products you will be panning!

ACTIVITY Use your stash: 1 Lip 👄 A Week (LAW)

Hi Everyone, been seeing the Palette A Week (PAW) threads in the sub and thought why not lip products? Would anyone be keen to join in on focusing on 1 lip product a week as a way to rotate through their stash?

Thinking the posts can include the following information and reflection: - Product brand and name - Why is this product selected? - Do you wear the lip product by itself only or layered/mixed with other products? - Do you still like the formula/colour/effect the lip product gives? - Any new discoveries or decisions made after testing the product for a week?

I won’t mind hosting it and the post can be posted every Wednesday ☺️

Mods, please let me know if there is anything I should take note of.

Edit: Adding my selection for the week is Maybelline Lifter Gloss in Topaz. Why the choice is because this is in my project pan and I would like to focus usage a little more as I tend to avoid doe foot applicators for touch ups during the day. Mostly I use it on its own but will see if I try any new combinations with it.m this upcoming week!

ACTIVITY Resisted breaking my no-buy

Popped into cvs yesterday to get some vitamins. I wandered into the makeup isles against my better judgment… I’ve been on pretty much a no-buy for everything, including makeup until I can get my credit card paid off. I didn’t think I’d be so tempted, but I nearly walked away with two lip glosses and a clear mascara. It’s funny because the products felt justified in my mind because they fit the aesthetic of someone who is minimalist and embraces natural beauty, but buying them would have gone against the core reasons I went on a makeup no-buy in the first place; bc I already have a TON of makeup and bc I’m trying to consume less and embrace my natural skin and face, (not to mention I’m broke).

I ended up walking away from the products but I feel like it was a close call. 😰 I feel like it was a lesson to me to not put myself in positions where I know I’ll be tempted.

ACTIVITY Use Your Stash! 1 lip 👄 a week (LAW) 2 - 8 April 2025

Hi everyone, it's time for another update of LAW!

Makeup wise I will have a loose powder empty this week. Face powders are truly one of the more achievable pans in the makeup world, meanwhile I am still rotating through my lip products.

It’s time again for reflection and rolling in a new Lippie this week😆Some guiding questions for the posts: - Product brand and name - Why is this product selected? - Do you wear the lip product by itself only or layered/mixed with other products? - Do you still like the formula/colour/effect the lip product gives? - Any new discoveries or decisions made after testing the product for a week?

Last week’s pick was Flower Knows Swan Ballet Glossy Lipstick in 04 Silver Moon. I still remember how dark this formula looks when new and now it has settled into a really pretty soft pink. Really enjoyed last week anticipating spring pink vibes.

This week’s pick is my Nivea Lip balm in Strawberry. I have pretty much forgotten it as I prefer more intensely tinted or just clear balms. Rolling in to get more creative use of this.

Looking forward to seeing your updates and new entries!

ACTIVITY 10 By Summer 2024 ☀️ INTRO

It's a beautiful day, don't let it get away!

Welcome to 🐣💐🌿 Spring 🪺🪁🖼 everyone! With the new season coming up soon, it's a great time to start a project and use up what you have!

The project works like this: Pick any 10 beauty items and pick a goal that you want to work towards by the end of the season. It's that simple! Absolutely anything beauty related counts in this project: makeup, hair care, nail care, fragrances, skin care... you name it. You can also choose whatever goals you'd like (there are no limits!), for example: fully using up ('panning') an item, hitting pan, using an item a certain number of times, or testing something new.

You can add as many or as few items to the list as you like, 10 is just a suggestion. Make sure to let us know what you pick down below - and feel free to use my comment as format inspiration, or create a list in a way that suits you best! I love seeing all the ways people format their comments!

This project starts today, the 21st of March and will run until the 20th of June, but you can join at any time. Update posts will be every 2 weeks until we hit Summer! There are lots of active projects at the moment, so I'll make update post dates available beforehand - our next posts will be: 🐣 4th April, 💐 18th April, 🌿 2nd May, 🪺 16th May, 🪁 30th May, 🖼 13th June, with the finale on the 🧚🏽‍♀️ 20th June!

Optional Bonus Question: Let's set some goals for other items around us to finish up too! Choose teas/coffees/cocoas, read some books, pay off debts, candles, or anything else you'd like to finish up! Make sure to let us know how this goes!

Notes:

  • If you would to be sent a reminder when a new update is available, let me know in your intro comment below! I will PM you the direct link to each update post.

Reminder to never feel bad about joining in late in the threads! Good luck everyone, I'm excited to see what everyone picks!

ACTIVITY Pan That Palette 2024 - Intro

Hi everybody! I'm u/PrayStrayAndDontObey and I'll be hosting Pan That Palette 2024 in its grand return to r/MakeupRehab!

If you have no idea what this project entails, here's an overview:

Pan That Palette is a challenge where you select a palette to work on throughout the year. You can choose an eyeshadow palette, a face palette, a lip palette, or if you want a challenge, more than one palette (e.g a face palette and an eyeshadow palette). You can either challenge yourself to hit pan on every shade, completely pan every shade (hence "pan that palette"), or make it your goal to use it regularly (e.g. X times per month).

This project will last from today to the end of the year. I will be posting most of my updates on the second day of the month, except for today (January 3rd) and the finale, which will either be posted on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day.

If you are participating, I will try to tag you in every update post.

Wishing you all the best of luck, and I am looking forward to seeing what palettes you will be panning!

ACTIVITY Use Your Stash! 1 lip 👄 a week (LAW) 19 - 25 March 2025

Hi everyone, it's time again to reflect and update with the LAW project.

I am finally itching to change my makeup looks, will do a shop my stash this week to rotate through what I have. The organization and cleaning of my makeup drawer has been quite calming and meditative as my new work place has turn out to be terrible and now I have to restart my job hunt. Still sticking around though as being employed pays the bills. Staying strong to avoid retail therapy now as I'd rather save up in the event I decide to bail myself out of work for a while.

Last week’s pick was Dr Bronners Naked lip balm in order to empty it. It is nowfinallyempty and is now happily binned. I do enjoy this lip balm but trying to get product out using a qtip is frankly a chore especially since it is a stick balm.

This week I will be rolling in my replacement night balm, By Terry Baume De Rose in the pot. This was a boogie indulgence that was an influenced purchase. Tragically (as it was so expensive), I really dislike the taste which reminds me of a waxy rose and have learnt to not overapply to avoid accidentally tasting it. However, as it is a very lush and soft formula, it performed really well to soften and moisturize which is why I am going to power through this tub.

Looking forward to seeing your new entries!

ACTIVITY Come to Reverse Rouge in 2025 to gamify your panning!

I've been using the Reverse Rouge website since 2020, and I love using it to track my beauty empties vs. purchases every month plus through the years -- and I'd love for you to join me in 2025!

In essence, Reverse Rouge is like the Sephora rewards program, but instead of being rewarded for buying new stuff, you go up each tier by using up products you already have (and entering the corresponding dollar value).

u/mesomerize is the developer, and you can read the FAQ on the rules here. Login to the website using your Reddit account. Be wary that any links you find on the sub with the reverserouge.com URL are now broken due to that domain no longer being supported (and on that note, feel free to make donations since this does cost u/mesmoerize money out of her own pocket).

I belive u/jayharker was the most recent host for regular updates on the sub but seems to have already given her blessing to whomever wanted to take over with updates haha, so I'll plan on posting quarterly update posts in 2025![](https://www.reddit.com/user/Galaxine/)

ACTIVITY Pan That Palette 2025 - Intro

Hi everybody! u/PrayStrayAndDontObey here, and welcome to Pan That Palette 2025! I am so sorry for the belated intro post, I had been traveling throughout the first week of January and did not have time to access Reddit. I also had to upload the (also belated) finale to last year's Pan That Palette.

Here are the rules: Pan That Palette is a challenge where you select a palette to work on throughout the year.
I plan on posting update 1 sometime on the first week of February. After that, I will be able to figure out when the other monthly updates will take place.

I am looking forward to hearing what your chosen palettes will be for 2025!

ACTIVITY Twelve Pans of Christmas 2024 - Update 1

Hi everybody! Time for our first update of the Twelve Pans of Christmas 2024! Normally it would take place on September 25th, however, as we started this project later than usual, Update 1 is taking place on October 1!

If you have forgotten the rules of this project, here is a repost of the rules!

You select twelve items you want more progress on over the next few months. They can be makeup, skincare, haircare, body care, nail polish, or even non-beauty related items. ACTIVITY Would any of you be interested in a weekly challenge where a different theme is posted and we try to wear makeup that fits that theme for the whole week? And then post our results? I just think it would be an interesting way to get use out of our makeup.

Because I can easily stick to the same look without branching out and I would live to be more creative.

EDIT: wow this got more of a response than I expected! I think in order for this to work, we would need to make a subreddit in order to do polls and posting looks and just making a more cohesive experience. Who would be interested in being a mod? 😁

ACTIVITY All of my makeup fits into a pencil case!

After owning literal buckets of makeup I’ve finally pared it down to the essentials. I’ve accepted I’m not going to wear that foundation, blush, eyeshadow, etc. All I have is mascara, eyelash curler, eyeliner, perfume, and a spoolie/lash comb to get rid of clumps. The only things not in my pencil case are my two pairs of false eyelashes because the plastic is too bulky to fit in the pencil case but I’m super proud of myself.

ACTIVITY Use Your Stash! 1 lip 👄 a week (LAW) 26 March -1 April 2025

Hi everyone, it's time for another update of LAW!

Spring is also rolling around so have been feeling pink floral vibes 🌸🌺🌷 for makeup and perfumes! It's no mystery then this week's pick is pink!

Last week’s pick was By Terry Baume De Rose in the pot. Been defaulting to this as my overnight lip balm. It performs well even though I don't particularly enjoy the experience.

This week's pick I am rolling in again Flower Knows Swan Ballet Glossy Lipstick in 04 Silver Moon. Really love this formula which is so easy to apply and moisturizing and it would fit perfectly with spring pink vibes.

Looking forward to seeing your updates and new entries!

ACTIVITY Friendly Panning Competition

Recently my mom, sister, and I were having a discussion about our 2025 low buys and how we can best support one another as we all have unmanageably large makeup collections. I told them about project panning and usage goals, and they were so receptive that I asked if they would like to have a friendly competition to see who could use up the most products by 2025 year end. It was an enthusiastic yes! We all agreed to track the amount of products we use up throughout the year and share achievements like hitting pan or resisting an impulse purchase. There's no wager, just a friendly competition to see who can clear out the most clutter while keeping each other on track and accountable.

It was so cute getting pictures of the items they selected to start their rolling projects and their shared excitement in starting early to resist Black Friday and Boxing Day sales. It's hard to break out of the overconsumption, collection, and scarcity mindset, but support makes it a lot easier.

Has anyone else started a project with friends or family before? If so, how did it go? Any thoughts on how to keep this momentum and enthusiasm going throughout the year?
