Well-being 😌✌ I’m a failure to the deepest extent

To summarize it short , this was my 4th Mcat with 1 avoid on yesterday’s exam 04-05. I messed up to the extent that it’s unbelievable. I forgot for example v Max and kcat correlation , messed up on so many other cp and bb and ps questions. It is killing me. I went in so confident because i felt the best this time around and i just failed myself YET AGAIN. First two times i took it i got hyperthyroidism from the stress and got acne and bunch of health issues. Once i recovered i went in again this time and just fell short yet again and i just know it from talking to others. I get it when people say failure is part of process , but failure being the whole process just hurts me so bad. Maybe i was meant to leave this dream on the pillow. I just want to be happy ,i worked so hard for my app and every day i feel like the lowest IQ human in that Pearson testing center everytime walking out. I felt test anxiety to the fullest yesterday because how could i possibly miss an amino acid structure and an easy ps term on exam when i memorized so much like my name.I haven’t even slept all night knowing i fumbled this hard. It’s unbelievable man. I’m so hurt. When will i feel the defintion of hard work pays off. Life is miserable.

Sorry for writing alot but when i speak to a non pre med they don’t understand me and i feel alone.

God bless all you guys.

Question 🤔🤔 499 - Testing on 4/26/25

Hi Friends,

Been on this sub for 6 years. I have been out of school working as a nontrad (31 y/o) for 4 years. I have three jobs and studying has been difficult.

I just took a FL 1 and got 499 (124/125/125/125).

I’m ready to lock in and study this month to try and bring this up to a 510.

Plan: Going to shift my schedule to go to the gym in the mornings. Go to work.

Study: - M-F: - 1 hour on company time reviewing practice problems UClown. - Anki throughout the day (J/S for B/BB, Miledown Equation Pack for C/S, and Pankow for P/S). I set my card limits to 9999. Flagging all cards I don’t know and making filtered decks. - Evenings: Study at home for 3 hours each night. Directed study on weak areas and UWord Review.

  • Sat:
    • Practice Exam.
  • Sun: -Review Exam + Weak Areas. Make physical flashcards.

Can I do this friends? Please help me. Doing well on this exam is my dream and I took the MCAT in 2018 with a score of 505.

Please give me tips and tricks for boosting content.

I also noticed about 40% of my mistakes on UBetcha are due to misinterpreting the passage or the nuance of the question.

I have been doing UWorld for 1 hour daily since October without review.

Thank you so much in advance.

Vent 😡😤 I choked

I came in with a measured but firm confidence based on my FL scores and trajectory. It felt like everything I’d been working so hard toward for so long was about to come together in a clean and successful performance. Excitement built all this week about this chance to finally prove what I am capable of. I cannot believe how quickly it all crumbled

Despite immaculate sleep hygiene leading up to today, I had atrociously restless sleep and my Oura ring gave me 64 and 69 scores out of 100 on sleep and readiness (I made the right decision not to check these before my test but it didn’t matter)

I’ve never run out of time in a section in any of my FLs without getting a chance to thoroughly (enough) double check all my flags. I ran out of time in every single section today without even getting back to some of my flags and just having to guess on problems I knew I could have solved if my brain was working at all normally. That has never happened

I had 36 flags when I got to the end of CP. I didn’t even have enough time to read the last two CARS passages, had to jump right into the questions and search the passages from there.

I probably still got a score that will get me into medical school, but that was not my goal. I wanted to reach or at least approach my potential in this area that is a unique strength of mine. I wanted to show top schools that I am worthy of their investment. But I choked.

I don’t have time or bandwidth to test again. What I get will be what I get. This will be a long month

Question 🤔🤔 How to maximize CARS gains 3 weeks out?

3 weeks out I feel like I'm in stride with CARS. I feel comfortable with the AAMC logic and part of the reason is I have been doing CARS daily for the past 2 weeks (2-4 passages/day).

I just finished the AAMC CARS diagnostic and realized I am out of CARS material since I made the mistake of doing the CARS Q Packs back in November.

Problem is, I do way better on CARS when I reinforce the AAMC logic through passages daily. Makes it way easier to lock in. But I have no more novel CARS material except for the FLs I have yet to take.

Do I go back through the QPacks I did in November? I doubt I'd remember answers but I'm sure I'd have some memory of "traps" at some Qs. Or do I prioritize novel content and go with 3rd party like JW/UWumbo -- at the risk of deviating from AAMC logic.

All I know is I read faster and score higher when I'm doing CARS every day, as opposed to 1-3 times a week.

I also think I'd benefit from approximating 90 minute timed sections of CARS because I usually have 5 or less minutes to review flags on FLs.. but IDK if I have enough AAMC CARS questions to do that 1-2 times a week AND do 1-3 CARS passages a day outside those days,

Tool/Resource/Tip 🤓📚 flashcards that live on your Home Screen

Upvotes

Hello guys!

Remember that flashcard idea I posted a few weeks ago — the one that lives right on your iPhone Home Screen? Passive recall, anytime, anywhere — just unlock your phone and boom, memory boost

Well… it's almost ready.

Based on your awesome feedback, I’ve added some pretty cool features:

Smart scheduling with the FSRS spaced repetition algorithm
Add your own decks — Bio, Psych, CARS quotes, whatever

Just drop your email and I’ll send you the invite when it’s ready!

Question 🤔🤔 509 curse? 🤡 How to improve?

Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Looking for advice on how to push past this score ceiling. For context: I took the MCAT last September after very sporadically doing MilesDown Anki (most cards were still young, except for Psych/Soc), watching YouTube videos, and only read through the Psych/Soc UBook. I took two weeks off my full-time job, ~30 section bank Qs, FL 1 & 3, and ended up scoring a 509 (127/127/125/130).

Since I think I can do better, this time around, I quit my job to study full-time. There were definitely some distractions (essays), but I managed to get through all the Kaplan books (except Psych/Soc), took notes on Bio, and actually learned the content. That took about 1.5 months. Since then, I’ve been slowly reviewing Anki and started working through UWorld—done around 9% of the questions so far.

I recently took Kaplan FL1 and got another 509 (128/128/127/126). I wasn’t too discouraged since it’s Kaplan, but today I took AAMC FL2 and… yep, another 509 (129/126/128/126). Cue internal screaming. Since I have already taken FL 1-3, I just don’t want to waste another new one until I know I’ve dramatically improved.

But AAMC logic feels a lot different, like every section is CARS. With Kaplan, I can sometimes skim and still do okay just by reasoning through the questions. AAMC feels more subtle and less forgiving.

Am I cursed (jk… kinda)? With a 5/10 test date (pushed back recently), what should I focus on to finally break through this plateau?

Appreciate any thoughts or advice. Thank you all!!

Testing 5/3, goal score is 510. I got a 504 on FL 1, so I’m pretty happy with this improvement. Mostly gonna focus on B/B and P/S to improve a bit more. Basically hoping for the best on CARS bc I consistently get around 75% correct, and I know my time would be better spent elsewhere. I think that’s the best I’m gonna get because of my ADHD.

Shitpost/Meme 💩💩 Is reading theory the best CARS practice?

Upvotes

Before you guys call me a dirty commie, just listen.

Marx/Lenin/Engels writings are somewhat dense and their prose can be hard to follow sometimes, but guess what, so is CARS. Also CARS passages often contain subjects close to anthropology, philosophy, ethics, all which can be found in Marxist Theory. Read a couple chapters of theory a day and I promise your CARS score will increase.

Anyways even if you’re interested in becoming a physician I highly recommend ‘A Marxist View Of Medical Care’ by Howard Waitzkin even if you’re not interested in socialism/Marxism whatever, it’s definitely an interesting perspective and something to keep in mind if you’re pursuing the practice.

Question 🤔🤔 How plausible is this study routine? (planned test date Jan 24 2026)

After this semester, I will have taken every course needed for the MCAT besides for biochemistry and physics 2 (will take both in the fall). I plan to start my content review in June, then move on to grinding practice problems through the rest of the summer & semester, with the intermittent 3rd party FL. Then, after the end of the semester, I plan to use the AAMC full lengths & qbanks during winter break in the weeks leading up to the test date.

This study plan is long (8 months) bc of all of my other pre-med activites (clinical job, research, volunteering etc).

Any advice?

Question 🤔🤔 What should I eat for lunch that wouldn’t make me sleepy

I am pre-diabetic. Was thinking of having a protein bar and celsius for lunch. But the high sugar content in protein bar made me sleepy and made a lot of mistake in PS due to not reading closely.

What are some snacks/ lunch you eat during the breaks? Idk whether kind bars are good option.

Vent 😡😤 Accidental no-show, crying rn

Hi guys, I’m absolutely wrecked rn. I originally scheduled my exam for 4/05 but I decided I needed time so “rescheduled” it for 5/03. I even took a ss to show my bf so we can put it on our calendars.

So imagine my confusion when I received an email saying “congrats on taking your exam!” I whipped out my phone so fast and realized that the rescheduling never went through and my official exam is slotted for today.

I just feel so stupid and defeated. Absolutely fucking devastated. I checked with AAMC policies and I can schedule for another exam tomorrow, after 24-hrs. I’m just so scared rn.

Question 🤔🤔 How to improve my MCAT score from 490 to 505+ in 4 weeks? Need serious advice.

Hey everyone, I’m a non-trad pre-med aiming to apply this cycle. I just took a AAMC fl2 and scored a 490. I know I have a lot of work ahead, but I’m determined to improve and hit at least a 505 within the next month.

I’m using only AAMC and UWorld right now

If you’ve made a big jump (490 → 500+), I’d love to hear:

•What helped you most?

•How did you structure your review?

•Any traps I should avoid in these last 4. weeks?

Appreciate any and all advice — I’m giving this everything I’ve got. Thank you!

Well-being 😌✌ Anyone stressing c/p don’t

I know how you feel, I thought I failed c/p, swore up and down I got below 125. I left knowing I had guessed on 7 questions and flagged 16 by the time I was done. Ended up getting a good enough score like 90th+ percentile. Higher than my fl averages actually. So it’s kinda good it’s hard because the scaling is more forgiving. Let’s say c/p 5 questions gets you 130, maybe now it’s 8-9. Don’t stress!!!!!!! Also experimental questions do exist. It’s done anyways, nothing you can do. Just rest, relax, and enjoy yourself, oh and start prewriting. Hardest part is done!
