Not in this case.
The indicators were (are) both clear and extreme, leaving little room for doubt.
In this age of non-expert opinion, where uninformed speculation somehow gets traction over the consensus of individuals who make a living working with the facts (think anti-vax), I'm sure you can find an alternative view for anything .... But...
I tend to look for mainstream professional opinion on key issues.
Things like Brexit, vaccination, tariffs, authoritarianism.
The broad consensus from mainstream professionals in these and other areas tend to be born out after the event.
So, take note USA.
The professionals think there is worse to come.
