Discussion Dr. John Briere's input on the brothers
As someone who is currently working on a thesis about criminal behavior and childhood trauma, I can't help but admire the work John Briere has done for the domaine (mainly because you seriously can't help but notice his name in almost EVERYTHING related to the field).
Seeing him so "prevalent" makes me smile ngl lol, not only do I find it impressive that someone like him vouched for the brothers, but it makes Pamela's treatment of him even more scandalous and insane to me

Discussion A LEGAL QUESTION: WHY not a second degree murder?
I ve got a question, if after first trial, half jury voted for first degree murder, and half for mansluaghter ( or uperfect defence), why was not decided a second degree murder, which should have been life in prison WITH parole? So probably they would have been free 15 years ago . it was harder than what the defence wanted but better than what the prosecution wanted, it would have been a compromise. Second degree murder it could have been ok, because it was not believed the fear to be killed theory , but at same times, the background family which was emerged from the stories told by the brothers and the extended family and friends, and the obivous abuses ( not talking about the sexual), would have represented an excuse for their unability to understand what they were doing

Discussion Would an Alford plea be a possibility?
Is there a possibility the brothers would be offered an Alford plea? I understand that it's reserved for cases where the defendants maintain their innocence but agree there was enough evidence to convict. As we know, Erik and Lyle don't deny what they did, but maintain they were in fear for their lives, so it's messy. I've been trying to research about it the last few days and can't figure out if an Alford plea could be a possibility for them if it doesn't go well at the resentencing hearing/risk assessment by Newsom.
The most famous case where inmates got out of jail by taking the Alford plea, was the West Memphis Three. One of the convicted, Jason Baldwin refused to agree at first saying it was not justice to admit guilt but eventually agreed because his co-accused Damien Echols was on death row and would've been killed by the state of Arkansas. The three men got out after 18 years in prison.
I just wish the brothers were offered it if all else fails, they've spent enough time in prison fror the crime they committed and at least they would be free but I just don't know if their particular circumstances could allow for such a plea. Thanks in advance if you have any insight.

Video Just a painful moment from trial
For me it's one of the most hearbreaking moments from trial. Jose visited Erik in his hotel room during tennis tournament in Louisville, where Erik did great. And we all know what Jose was doing to Erik when he was in "elated" mood and pleased with his son. The shame and embarassment on Erik's face during this moment brakes my heart💔 he even tried not to look into the audience for some time💔 and his mother stayed into the next room, next door...

Question I have a question…..
If Judge Jesic accepts Hochman’s request to withdraw the resentencing motion, is all hope lost? Would they then no longer be going before the parole board in June?
I get a little confused by everything so I’m sorry if I sound like a moron haha

Link cooper koch talks about the brothers and hochman on a recent podcast + says he talked to erik last week
about being into true crime: "I'm not really into true crime that much. I'm just a Menendez person. So I still am, you know, I'm still in touch with them. And I'm still involved in that respect. And yeah, so I'm just passionate. I'm really just passionate about their case. Other than that, I'm not a huge true crime junkie."
about hochman's recent recommendation: "Yeah, I don't want to say anything that's too rash, even though whenever I hear that, my thoughts are just like, really horrible things. But yeah, all I can say is that someone like him is still really living in the 90s and is taking the prosecution rhetoric to heart, which is just sort of bonkers to me that we're still sort of reiterating these narratives that have been debunked since then, and 30 years later, 35 years later. I just think it's ridiculous. [...] However, they do have another route of going to their parole board hearing, which is in June. So that looks really positive. Basically, they just have to go to the parole board and share their story and talk about their case, and they will essentially be let out, hopefully. You never know. I'm still having a lot of cautious optimism. But to have Gavin Newsom sort of go the clemency route and advocate for them in that way was really positive. And I spoke with Erik last week, and he's still very nervous, but also really hopeful and excited. And yeah, I'm the same.”

News Anamaria is live on TikTok,
Anamaria will be flying to California for the court date next week and the one the week after.
She said the guys are super busy right now.
She said the new tmz documentary coming out will just be the interviews with the guys from the most recent podcast. Not a new interview with them!
She said the guys won’t be physically present at any of the upcoming court dates.
She also shared a story about Jose, which she never does! But when he was working in the music industry, he brought a demo tape home and let the kids listen to it and Anamaria thought the band sucked 😂 the band would go on to be super successful lol

Question Are the April resentencing dates still on?
Just checking in if the April 11th court date is still on for the resentencing hearing or if something has changed about that? There’s been so much movement in the case I‘m not sure if I’m mixing dates up atp.
And the resentencing hearing before the judge should be considered separately from the risk assessment initiated by Newsom and the parole board hearing in June, correct?

Video In a hotel right now and on the tv they are airing criminal minds. In the intro they have the mugshots of the brothers. It irks me that they are put up there with the the worst of the worst.
Can't wait for the day they will be released and they will start correcting all the wrong narrative about them and abuse out there (very selfish of me to hope to hear a lot from them if they will get out, I know).

Question Was Micheal Burt co-council, or the lead attorney/council representing Lyle?
I've tried to figure out whether Jill Lancing was the leading attorney defending Lyle or if it was Micheal Burt, but every time I try to find out, everything says that Leslie repeated both of them when I know that's not true, she was Erik's leading attorney, she didn't represent them both. Anyways, I'd appreciate some feedback, thanks! 😁

Discussion LYLE -CRAIG RELATIONSHIPS?
do you have more specific infos about them, if were friends, or Lyle just met him when Craig was with Erik? and also do you know if Erik told Lyle to have confessed to Craig about the murders? even if later he changed his story during dinner at the restaurant. Also do you think Craig was afraid by Lyle, when he told Erik he talked with the police?

Discussion Can't stop thinking about the moment the brothers were separated for almost 22 years.
I can't be the only one who thinks about this moment whenever the song Don't Dream its Over by Crowded House. Especially considering how this song was played during that scene in Monsters.
I also can't but wonder how, from the moment they were both being driven in a completely different direction away from each other, did those drivers who drove them, feel no guilt or even some sympathy for them whatsoever? While I get that it is their job to do what they were told to do, but I seriously wonder if they ever apologized to the brothers for the shock and trauma it gave them. It confuses me how people are still even against the brothers for what they did. Do they not even see who they have become today? And how despite EVERYTHING they had to experience and deal with, and being betrayed and let down, and neglected and other things, by those they thought would help them, they STILL try to do their best to behave and change themselves.
I seriously wonder whether those who do not support the brothers for what happened, are even mentally okay and mentally insane or incapable of understanding basic survival mechanisms and how the brain works. Considering their traumas and experiences, it is completely justifiable to do such thing because of the psychological toll it has on them physically, emotionally and mentally.
Another point, considering how the majority of people who DO end up going to jail for murdering someone or their family members, DO NOT care at ALL to change themselves and to become a better person. Out of ALL those prisoners, especially those who killed their family members out of self-defense as well, how MANY of them REALLY changed themselves and were willing to change themselves, simply because THEY want too and because it is what will help them survive in the long run? That is all. I am curious to hear your opinions.
