lauren Spoiler

I'm currently almost done with episode three, I'm watching it as I type, and this is just annoying. Why is Syndee trying so hard to kick her off, especially when she doesn't even have anything to lose. As I'm typing she literally just said "I might look like a million bucks, but I'm not the millionaire" and it's just radiating being self-absorbed, and she seems entitled as well. It feels like she thinks she deserves the information Lauren has, even though she likely would do the exact same thing in her shoes, even showing that when earlier this episode it was implied she wouldn't tell the group (or at least not Lauren) the details that were given to her in the trophy room if she was the one selected to go in, even after saying that she would tell them. This is hypocritical and honestly more deceitful than what Lauren did as she literally only lied when she had to, and then stopped as soon as she could. Seems objectively better to only lie when you have to and not just because you're mad someone didn't share information with you that they never had to in the first place - Heck Lauren shared more information than most of them probably would've. Jaimi is acting similarly, as well as the guy in the blue plaid jacket in this episode (his name might be Chris bc I saw people saying Chris was annoying and he is indeed annoying and rude, but not sure) is also incredibly rude, even interrupting Lauren's points with snobbish remarks because what, he thinks he knows better? Honestly, yeah she was wrong but she was most likely to be right out of all of them and was at least trying, I don't even know his name, so clearly he's not putting much out there. Also, as Sam said, she's valuable with the information and experience she has, and she's definitely not the millionaire so it is genuinely stupid to pick her for no reason and to spend so much time arguing about kicking her off instead of looking for who it actually is. Just annoyed me and wanted to share

Theory about Corey Spoiler

Ok so yk how Corey has been saying people are the millionaire and being so open about it but clearly wrong and *usually* not having good reasoning for why he picked who he narrowed in on? What if he's doing that to avoid suspicion so when he's the millionaire he could point fingers like this to other people and no one would suspect him since that's what he usually does? And he also gets underestimated and when it's his time to become the millionaire, he flies under the radar.

This can also be seen when he's given the three words to make people say: 911, Misdemeanor, Handcuffs, and effortlessly makes someone say those three words to say and doesn't make people suspicious of him. Not one person suspected him of getting that agenda.

Plus he's seen as trustworthy by others since they trust him in the trophy room so he would get chosen and then could lie about the secret when he really has to (but others would think it's the truth since he told the truth even tho it meant putting him on the chopping block).

Opinions Spoiler

They should’ve chose Jaime to be the shooter since she did the best with shooting the fridges in the air.

Glad they removed Lauren, she knew secrets but didn’t tell

I actually like Sydnee

Jaime was real lowkey in the beginning but towards the end she’s quite present

I want Cara to win, she’s very chill and smart

Jaimi

I noticed there’s a small handful of you that defend jaimi HARD.

Please let me preface with the following as we can skip the general discourse and get to the real points in the comments:

-it’s semi-reality tv. So yes this is all to get views and is edited a certain way. We only see so much of a character and what they do and say HOWEVER she acts and talks to ppl just as rude on her personal social media accounts (that could be due to the fact the show is still airing and trying to stay in character) but still not the best look and her friends bandwagon and are also rude to those in the comments to ppl expressing they didn’t like how she acted

Please tell me what ya’ll love about her in specifics. Nothing about looks. What beyond a gorgeous woman do ya’ll see in her. She’s beautiful but what else is it.

Strong player? I haven’t seen much strategy. She was being accused of being the millionaire but how did she get herself out of it lol

Again. Againnnn, AGAIN. i know it’s edited a certain way but i genuinely wanna know what im missing. Maybe im fumbling a strategic player.

But the argument is never telling any of us what ya’ll actually like about her it’s just being defensive that ppl don’t like her lol so i wanna hear ya’ll out! What are the jaimi fans fannin about

Did anyone think this was a spinoff to The Trust? The premise reminded me of that show….

Lydia Spoiler

Lydia reading each person in that room at the end was so satisfying. But why didn't she read Chris? I had to rewind to make sure. It's would've been nice to hear her thoughts on him.

My observations on the show Spoiler

Firstly, I absolutely love it. As someone who loved The Mole, I like the secrecy and the betrayal factor of the show. However, some things that bother me and I have only partially watched till Episode 5 so no spoilers please.

1) what is the true incentive to catching the Millionaire? -> I would have rather kept a weak millionaire(Phil) as opposed to a strong player(Sydnee). There is no benefit to catching the millionaire except the advantage that the millionaire gets but it's sometimes easy to ignore any weird request unless executed well (Phil clearly wasnt executing it well)

2) why did Phil not vote out Sydnee? -> did he not think it through??? He was already on the spotlight and he made it worse by creating a tie situation. He already lost the game there

3) Why the hell did Lauren reveal herself as the ex millionaire? -> Lauren shot herself in the feet by saying she was the millionaire. Ofcourse people were irked by her holier than thou act. She confided and then said she would keep the challenges to herself. She was trying or atleast acting smart and it heavily backfired

4) Lydia is a queen -> Absolutely loved her strategy to try and get Sydnee out. Unfortunately I got a spoiler that she ends up leaving. What a bummer :(

I disagree that the mechanics are broken

I see a lot of people commenting that, from the point of view of pure gameplay, it doesn't make sense for the players to eliminate the millionaire.

I think that is structurally true, but you are forgetting the simple inevitabilities of human psychology.

They must vote out someone and in their head, the clues they get point to the millionaire. Furthermore, the millionaires have clear advantages when they complete their agendas, so it makes them dangerous for that reason alone.

After the mid-point, then, it makes complete sense to actually find the millionaire so that the money can hopefully go to yourself. If you never find it, then you ain't going to win that million dollars.

We have seen that, even though Lydia had a good strategy, she still wasn't able to get them to not eliminate Phil, because the urge to get the millionaire out, with the unfair advantage, is just too strong.

Another reason for voting out the millionaire

I think one change they should make is that the millionaires abilities get stronger and stronger tve more they last

And tell the people that So that they have an incentive to get them out because their powers keep growing

Did I miss it or they never showed votes in some of the rounds? Spoiler

When Phil was voted out, did they show the votes? Sus.

Peter Serafinowicz is an amazing host Spoiler

Honestly the way he handles himself, the contestants, and his comedic timing are fantastic. I loved the way he handled Chris when he was speaking over Syd. Just absolute chefs kiss and class. I really hope they keep him around for a season 2.

I am quietly waiting for him to mention crispy hoisin owl, sandwich casserole or bonbonbonbonbons.

A way to fix the show

So currently there really is no incentive to voting out the millionaire. If you know where the money is it almost is better for the players to wait until later in the game to get them out. A rule change would solve this problem. The prize should start at 500k and go up 100k for each millionaire eliminated. That way the players would want to get them out to increase the overall prize. Do you think this would fix this shows problems?

Season 1: Ep. 6 thoughts… Spoiler

Corey shouldn’t have moved the money. He had no heat on him so the two votes against him wouldn’t have mattered and they def would’ve had Sam cornered at that point

Lauren Spoiler

I’m on the latest episode that’s out and I can’t help but think about how DUMB it was for lauren to immediately start crying and tell everyone she was the millionare… I was cringing so hard because I could not believe she would expose herself like that. I understand the gravity of lying and how “terrible” she felt but it’s a reality tv show to win a million dollars… of course you have to lie and be not a real friend 😭😭

Another way to fix the show

Ok, haven’t gamed this out, but what do you think?

  • When players vote for the Millionaire, the person with the most votes doesn’t leave. They reveal their box as empty. One of the players who voted for someone who is not the Millionaire (whether the person who got the most votes or not) is randomly eliminated. This creates a strong incentive to get it right.

  • If the Millionaire is found, the money is distributed at random to someone who voted wrong.

Your Favorite Character Spoiler

Currently on Episode 5

My favorite is Sydnee… She is simply baddass… Smart, Fair Player imo, and gorgeous… You can tell she is a very loyal person, and has heart of gold…

First episode, getting to know the characters, at first I thought she was preppy/snudy/sneaky makeup girl, but as the episodes go on, the more down to earth I found her to be….

And I also feel so bad with her position as the scapegoat; the easiest to blame…

How about you guys?

The Mole/ Deal or No Deal link

Just noticed that Glenn Hugill is an executive producer on this show, and is currently Chief Creative Officer for the company that makes it, which I presume means he played a big part in creating it.

Glenn Hugill is a former actor, and he presented the UK’s version of The Mole back in 2001 (such a great show, and he was a brilliant presenter). He was also the executive producer and the Banker for Deal or No Deal in the UK.

Maybe that’s why Million Dollar Secret seems to be a cross between The Mole and DonD.

If they played “the quiet game” it would be so much more easier for people to find who the millionaire is and their secret agenda if they all just shut and didn’t speak and observe lol

Appreciation Post

Can I just say that this show is a fun break from reality? The stakes are low, no one is losing anything except time away from work, no one is getting their heart broken, the food looks amazing and the host is great.

I love how serious the show is without being serious. On other reality shows, I end up feeling really bad for some of the cast bc they really get their whole lives out in the public and that makes for a high chance of being hurt.

Sure, there are some things that could be cleaned up like some of the rules, but overall, it's just fun and entertaining. That's all.

So what's stopping the millionaire from colluding with other players? Spoiler

Especially at Phil's Scream task. Couldn't he have gone to 2 people he "trusts" and confess that he was the millionaire and he was given an agenda and get them to scream somewhere where nobody else would have heard.

Inexchange he would have told them more about how the agendas work and what kind of power they get during voting and plan accordingly.

In fact Sam should have done the same when she had the killshot and as she was already good friends with Lydia.. They both could have thrown suspicion on some else and would have guaranteed Syd's elimination.

Did they not show the final vote counts in episode 4?

I'm in the middle of watching the new episodes, and I went back and tried to find who voted for who on episode 5 and I don't see the final vote counts that they usually show. Did I just miss it or did they not include it for this episode? I liked seeing them because it helped show what everyone was thinking strategy wise and where their head was at.

Edit: I meant episode 5 because episode 4 had a cliffhanger episode

How is she still around? She's very clearly the strongest player so everyone should be rushing to boot her out...

Is it just because she's hot that the guys won't eliminate her?
