man, you gotta be careful with that skulk. don't kill any bugs ~(or animals)~ near it, or it will spread like wildfire.

Ok jokes aside, is that not actually mold there??
37
u/Generic_Villain1 5d ago
Yeah, it does look like something that could actually be mold up on the ceiling, but i can't tell if its shadows in some spots.

u/PM_ME_Happy_Thinks 5d ago
Not exactly popcorn but it is rough textured, but that texture, in my experience, provides excellent substrate for mold to grow because it catches everything and it's impossible to clean.

Jokes aside it looks like Minecraft leaf texture

u/CallMeYox 3d ago
Well, I’m pretty sure it is, though I haven’t played the game for quite a while

u/RedPandaOpossum 3d ago
It is from Minecraft, but not leaves. It’s called Sculk, and when something dies near it, it spreads. If you find it, you need to stay quiet because there might be something nearby called a Sculk shrieker. If the shrieker hears you, it’ll scream and summon The Warden, which is the most dangerous mob in the game.

I just played Minecraft for 3 hours straight instead of going to sleep and for a second there I thought I was losing it. Idk what possessed me to start playing at 3 am

There's water in my nose. That hit me way harder than I expected, it's done so well!

u/AccomplishedIgit 5d ago
I don’t think that’s mold, I think the walls are just really dirty or really old and the texture is falling off. Need a closer photo but if it is mold it’s pretty bad….

There’s a r/moldyinterestingcj now 🥴

u/crazy_cool_pug_lady 3d ago
Do you mean that to disagree with the existence of said sub, or is it something else??
1
u/hautedabber 2d ago
No it’s for posts like this; people saying there’s a problem and not wanting real answers. It’s much like the r/plantcarecirclejerk sub
1
u/crazy_cool_pug_lady 2d ago
Do you have any suggestions for how the subreddit could improve, banner ideas, anything??
1
u/hautedabber 2d ago
I honestly have no idea about how to run a subreddit so unfortunately I have no idea
1
u/crazy_cool_pug_lady 2d ago
I'm considering putting a post like this as either the subreddits profile pic/circle thing or banner, the other contender was a Pic of a dog, but it feels like this one might be better??? Idk

That is pretty bad. It’s a special culture of mold that grows on corpses. There might be a body in your ceiling. Just saying.
1
u/Fractal_Human 4d ago
What is the humidity in that room and does that extractor fan stll work and do you actually use it?
1
u/Busy_Necessary_3326 4d ago
That is 1980's pixel mold. Very deadly, highly infectious, chemical and medication resistant. Best to just burn house down and move on.

The first time I saw this, I didn’t know what it was. So I proceeded to loot the entire place as fast as possible, opening every chest. The screen went dark so I stood still! And that fucking crawled out of the ground and I screamed bloody murder.

Thats pretty cool, if you stay late enough in the night you may hear low pitched grumbling noises coming from the depths
1
u/Calm-Vanilla4452 3d ago
It only spreads if things die around it, you should check inside your walls for any corpses

Well as long as there are no shreaking noises and nothing is dying nearby it should be fine
1
u/Due-Cod80 1d ago
Usually this happens when an excess of mobs are dying and spawning in your ceiling, have you made sure you put a torch in your ceiling/crawlspace

That is skulk. it's extremely dangerous and is known to, if allowed to spread enough, create massive, extremely aggressive creatures calld, "wardens."
The best thing to do is to smash it with a pickaxe.

The mold generally eats away at any dead organisms, it doesn’t like loud sounds or bright lights and it can last for indefinite amount of times if not taken care of.

It seems to me your house has been infected by a very aggressive kind of bad quality overhyped videogame/movie. Nothing left then to burn your house to the ground.

try making a lot of noise, that'll surely do something! If you hear shrieking, that totally means it's working, and you should do whatever you did 4 times, definitely won't end badly!
