Rock textures flickering:

Example of flickering
I'm using a 7800XT and 7800X3D 1. Boot into safe mode
2. Run DDU (uninstalled gpu drivers)
3. Restart
4. Install latest AMD beta drivers
5. Now it's fixed

Recommended Settings:

  • Upscaling mode: DLSS Quality - Depend if you want some more perf, use Balanced give like almost 6-10% more perf. AND UPGRADE TO DLSS4 (v310) IS A MUST, IT LOOKS CLEANER THAN EVEN NATIVE 1080p TAA. Balanced actually look very close to Quality with >DLSS4 too, there are some artifacts compare to native but really hard to notice them. (Just google the way, it's very simple to force update). Without DLSS I would recommend upgrade your FSR to FSR4 when it available, or try the newest XESS 2 which way better than the one in the game. -> Ray Tracing: OFF - actually it's usable, RT in this game only affect reflections with like 3 overall fps drop in my test, the thing is it takes a lot of VRAM
  • Texture Quality: >High (or medium) - high to medium gives me like 1 more average fps, noticeably worse texture details, on high my vram almost always near it's limit (5.5-5.7gb), medium more manageable (4.4-5.1gb) in case there need more vram overhead
  • Texture Filtering: Medium (ANISO x4) - make textures look cleaner when viewing from certain angles, in main menu, highest take 3 fps hit (of 70 fps), medium only about 1fps, no noticeable fps hit in-game.
  • Mesh Quality: High (or medium) - drop to medium give slightly better perf and use less vram, but reduce some polygons, noticable on some model details, like NPC hair strands less smooth, some round objects noticeably less polygons...
  • Fur Quality: Low - Seem barely improve fur quality at all so just leave it at low
  • Sky/Cloud Quality: Lowest - This setting seem doesn't do anything, no visual or perf impact, but if the gpu/vram indicator in the demonstration is true then it should be turned down.
  • Grass/Tree Quality: .Low - grasses look BETTER at Low, with shorter, less grass density = less shimmering and more ground details can be shown, easier to find small endemic life too. Hardly noticeable changes on the trees. Almost no performance difference between low and high.
  • Grass/Tree Sway: Enable - make them more lively, barely performance increase not worth disable it
  • Sand/Snow Quality: Lowest - It looks fine and who cares about pebbles slightly more realistic anyway. .- Water Effects: Enable - Couldn't spot any differences, assuming this affect water physics stuff, will need to test again with more water.
  • Render Distance: Medium - you'll notice the choppy animation with far away creatures with this on low, seem zero performance hit and should keep it on.
  • Shadow Quality: High - it does take some vram but not demanding at all, High vs Medium have THE SAME performance while Low look absolutely horrible and should be avoided.
  • Distant Shadow Quality: Low - I don't notice a lot performance impact or visual changes but lower this reduce like 100mb vram usage
  • Shadow Distance: Far - seem no performance hit, just leave it medium or far.
  • Ambient Light Quality: Low - TURN THIS SHT DOWN, seem like zero difference (perhaps slightly brighter rocks?) for A LOT VRAM hog
  • Contact Shadows: Enable - honestly I don't notice particular areas where this setting affect or performance hit, but from the demonstration pic should leave it on for some fine shadow details.
  • Ambient Occlusion: Medium - small perf hit, add some details to shadows kinda like contact shadows, no noticeable visual or performance changes from medium to high, some may prefer it off as it can create some smeary shadow on ground around character
  • Bloom: High - Personal preference, almost no perf impact
  • Motion Blur: OFF - Less blur the better
  • Vignette Effects: OFF - personal preference, no perf impact
  • Screen Space Reflection: On - add reflections, should keep it on
  • SSSS Scattering: On - very very minimal performance impact and honestly really hard to spot differences (characters skin slightly smoother)
  • Depth of Field: OFF - surprising turning it off like give me 2-3 more fps when in the settings menu, in Focus mode it looks pretty cinematic and can hide some ugly far away details tho
  • Volumetric Fog: Low - noticeably save some performance, no noticeable visual change
  • Variable Rate Shading: OFF - Turning this ON give you nearly 1% better performance at the cost of some shader grainy/fuzziness you may notice sometimes.
  • Framegen: OFF - unless you can run stable above 40fps And If you don't have DLSS framegen, don't use FSR framegen - at lower fps FSR framegen in this game is the worst I've seen with a lot of flickering and artifacts. Use Lossless Scaling framegen instead, I've tested them and got better performance and visual when using them both with DLSS

Yeah after the update this shit runs like ass

1

u/imsozenbro 2h ago

I run Wilds on a i7-10700k and a 3080, runs pretty well most of the time but, much better with FSR DLSS gives me so many issues in this game, also steam overlay causes issues and crashing in many games so I turned it off for this game don't know if it's making a difference, also I play on 1440p most of the time and anytime there is an update the settings in this game auto change back to 4k which usually causes it to crash pretty quickly. For those having crashes I would maybe check if it's auto set itself to 4k and default settings as if you don't have the appropriate setup it will crash you. Just a few things to try that might make it playable for you. Also, I sometimes play with the high res pack and I only have 10 gb vram and it's fine no real issues unless I turn to many other things up high. Usually most of my settings are on high to ultra frame Gen with FSR generally makes it smooth at the highest settings still the occasional pop in textures and whatnot also I recommend restarting the game after changing the settings if you change from dlss to FSR or change res it seems to act up till restarting, best everything available aside from some lower level optionals and never had a major crash outside of the 4k res thing and all and all pretty smooth experience, I keep all my Intel, nvidia and pretty much all drivers up to date, including bios so could be possible that that might make a difference, seen a lot of people with many different issues I would say if your hardware is good and you at least have a 3080 you should be able to get this game going pretty smooth with only minor issues.

Big fan of monster hunter since the first ones but, definitely needs a lot of optimization for other platforms besides PS5 and needs a lot to be ironed out hope they get it all smoothed out sooner rather than later.

Don’t know if anyone else has run into this or maybe it’s just coincidence but twice already my console(Ps5) has turned off. Coincidently it’s right after I register a new armor set with the zoh Shia weapons. I checked to see if it was overheating and if the console was dusty or something and it could just be power issues at my house. Just reporting to see if it has happened to anyone else.

My game runs very smoothly except in one specific situation: talking to NPCs. Is there a known fix for this specific issue? The game is normally 90-120 FPS for me but when I talk to NPCs (Gemma, palico that gives rations... almost anybody really) my framerate plummets to ~15 for a few seconds.

Tell them to remove the encryption, and the obfuscation, and shorten the memory usage, why is WEAPON DATA using 4 Bytes of memory for a 1 byte VALUE!?

2

u/EleanorGreywolfe 8h ago

I don't know what they did but my game is straight up unplayable after title update. I had basically no issues post launch, some crashes every now and again, post title update though i would crash to desktop soon after loading into the game.

I have tried the fixes i've seen suggested like deleting shader cache or delete the re pak files then verifying, this did not fix my issues and infact made them worse. I no longer crash ingame, i crash to desktop after the complies the shaders. No crash report either, i am not happy.

One more game for the "don't bother for another 6+ months" pile.

The excitement around release dates for games has been completely destroyed.

3

u/vegetable01337 17h ago

Game started experiencing stutters and frame drops right after updating. After redoing the shader cache and validating the game files, it’s now running smoother than before. I'm on an R7 5800H with a mobile 3060.

u/Edge101bob64 18h ago

Any fix every time I kill a monster 2 to 4 times this happens when I load back to camp low fps problems and 0 to 10 gpu usage like it’s not reading the game or not rendering properly the only fix I have is alt enter window mode the full creen its fix it but then when I fast travel it happens again then I do the same process is there a fix to that problem am I the only one only wild gives me this type of problem sorry for English

2

u/ImSoDrab 19h ago

I dont see any improvements on vram usage since even on medium textures on forest it reached like 7.5gb vram.

I did notice however the smoothness of I think its called frametime? Framepacing? It just feels overall more smooth/stable than before this patch.

3

u/LogicalExtant 22h ago

what in the world, it feels like my game is speeding up when i go in and out of the tent

or is the optimization that much better on loading/smoothing out my fps

2

u/FrostyPotpourri 9h ago

Yeah it 100% is doing this for me too. Much, much faster to get in and out of tent. I'm curious what this is tied to.

u/J4A_Grande 1d ago edited 1d ago

Game was running fine before this update , now using the same settings it running much worse, says its using up more vram now?( from 4 gb to 6) anyone else having these exact issues?

2

u/Just_The_Dave 1d ago

Using FSR now my forge menu flickers like hell. Anyone has the same problem? Any solutions?

1

u/Sojee97 1d ago

Are you using the disable post processing mod by any chance? That mod has a sharpening setting that was causing flickering for me.

3

u/Thai_Cuisine 1d ago

complete slideshow. game is unplayable, like less than 1 fps and input delay to boot. sad too cause i was really looking forward to the title updates.

3

u/Punished_Prigo 1d ago

So after the March 4 update monster hunter introduced a rare memory leak glitch that affects some Xbox users. This made my game completely unplayable on Xbox.

It hasn’t been solved yet. Capcom says it’s an Xbox issue but it simply isn’t. See my submitted post about the issue to see how far we went with troubleshooting.

I ended up building a brand new PC to play monster hunter. My important specs are 9070xt, 7700x, 32gb ram, m.2 nvme.

Now we get this title update, and the game on my pc freezes for approximately 1 second every 3-4 seconds making it unplayable.

Fucking ridiculous.

1

u/Chemical_Bag7888 15h ago

i experienced this freeze thing. i just removed reframework and its fixed

1

u/seandude881 1d ago

How does it run on series s ? Still trash?

9

u/Ananoriel 1d ago

Unfortunately it seems like the recent patch didn't help my performance at all. I already played on mid/low settings for my 3060. It wasn't perfect, but doable.

Now I notice a lot of stutters while moving the camera, short and constant freezes and even when booting up the game, it freezes.

1

u/ARRB2 17h ago

I just gave up and put the mod that allows you to enable FSR Frame gen while using DLSS with the K preset

1

u/Soap2 22h ago

I have a 3060 running mid some settings on high.

This update did nothing in terms of improvement or detriment for me :/

2

u/MoistTour429 1d ago

i can confirm, my PC was powering thru the game before patch (9950X3D and 4090) and when i booted up today i saw a few stutters, they broke the broken game hahaha

3

u/TheUltimate3 1d ago

I'll admit, I was looking forward to the patch to see if anything would improve if only a little.

Now my game surprisingly runs worse.

2

u/CyberRaiju_ 1d ago

This update just ruined my game. I was already playing on the lowest settings at a somewhat stable 30fps and now it’s stuck at 5fps.

2

u/whenlifegivesyoulime 1d ago

Anyone else crashing every time they join quests? I had no issues before today :(

7

u/Lazydusto Shield Bonker 1d ago

Brand new patch and my game still randomly crashes. Amazing.

3

u/minidude34 1d ago

FYI, this update introduced a new bug(for me at least) where FPS is capped at 60(on a high refresh rate monitor) with framegen on if you ever alt-tab. You can easily fix it by toggling framegen off and on but it's still kinda bizarre.

3

u/synicosis 1d ago

My game ran fine prior to the update. Now, even after deleting all files and reinstalling, it sends my entire computer to BSOD after getting into the main menu. Does this happen to anyone else?

3070 + 5700x3d

1

u/UnknownNate 1d ago

what exact bsod are you getting? that helps narrow it down

1

u/synicosis 23h ago

It's hard to see because it legitimately only appears for .5 seconds before crashing, but I've seen two errors

I've been getting 0xc000021a the most. The second one, I only saw once so far, and only for a flash but it said CRITICAL_something...

1

u/UnknownNate 7h ago

probably critical_process_died, both of those usually point towards messed up system files, did you also do a windows update recently?

1

u/synicosis 4h ago

No I did not :(

6

u/Silentman0 1d ago

Running a 2070 super and REFramework, the game chugs when loading into a new area and during the start of hunts (The start of the Mizu hunt made me worry that my PC was going to crash), but once the hunt got going proper everything seemed to run better than it did before the patch. Truly, a land of contrasts.

2

u/Tobi-of-the-Akatsuki *Doot intensifies* 1d ago

I have a 4080 with REF and I'm now getting this exact problem! How did Capcom manage to make the performance and a game with already shitty performance WORSE?

3

u/flamengers 1d ago

Go into your game directory and delete the shader cache, I was also experiencing worse performance initially but after forcing the game to reload the shaders it ran MUCH smoother

1

u/Tobi-of-the-Akatsuki *Doot intensifies* 1d ago

Figured it out right after making my post lmao. It did fix my game, thank Gog.

3

u/GoLeftNow 1d ago

New patch says I can run the game slightly better (Sub 40 to sub 50) on still lowest settings. OS = Windows 10 - 64 CPU = AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-core GPU = Geforce 4060 Ti RAM = 16 GB

9

u/sucedaneo 1d ago

I was playing just fine until today. After the new update, the game crashes when I press play in the menu.

2

u/Poop_Scooper_Supreme 1d ago

Any change if you verify files in Steam?

2

u/sucedaneo 1d ago

Well I reinstalled the entire game and now it's working fine, next time I will verify steam files. Thanks for helping!

15

u/animefan0107 1d ago

this is depressing, the game plays even worse now...

5

u/reficurg 1d ago

Delete shadercache and verify game files. It fixed everything for me. Game is super smooth now (4080S and 7800x3d)

1

u/pockyyy 1d ago

Where can I find the shadercache?

2

u/animefan0107 1d ago

Ok I’ll try it thx

1

u/reficurg 1d ago

Let me know if it works, I'm hoping it does and I'm not some weird exception!

3

u/animefan0107 1d ago

game is running about the same for me, im getting 50fps atm lol

1

u/Jerco49 1d ago

I tried this as well and it worked for me. I was stuttering pretty bad whenever I entered a new area and then normalizes at first. Now it's as smooth as before.

6

u/RTideR GT: Tops 1d ago

Looks like this title update brought crashing back to Xbox, for anyone curious. Two crashes in my hour of playing now.. launch would crash a ton, but then an update fixed, this title update seems to have reverted that fix.

Crashed once during Mizu and now again against Zoh Shia.

4

u/User5228 1d ago

TU1 kicked me off the servers, now I can't even start in offline. i9 9900k 7900xtx.

4

u/RemoteMacaroon3098 1d ago

After updating to TU1 my controls randomly inverted themselves.

Title. After launching the game I experienced a crash and now I'm having a multitude of issues. Most annoying ones being my controls randomly inverting themselves, graphics settings reverting to 1080p every 20 ish minutes, and me not being able to turn on Vsync.

I have not played in a week so i have no idea what caused this

13

u/peixinho3 1d ago

WTF this company is doing! I was playing with 60 fps and very stable using Lossless Scaling. I don't know what the f... they have done now I can't even play the game in the hubs! CPU AND GPU AROUND 90% even with Lossless Scaling ON. I already uninstall and install the game, I already upgrade the GPU drivers...

My GPU: 3070
My CPU: Ryzen 5 5600

VRAM in menu says it's around 4gb my graphics are all medium/low... I like this game but this do not make any sense to me! I just want to ask for a refund but I've already been doing this for 70 hours! Damn time I didn't buy this for PS5!!!

3

u/Awilixsh 1d ago

Is it just placebo or did the textures loading actually improved?

2

u/ClutchUpChrissy 1d ago

While I’m still experiencing some stutter things related to camera panning, I have noticed more limited pop in than compared to before the patch. Only played ~4 hours since update. Will keep an eye on this to see if it really did get better.

3

u/Nikkelmann 1d ago

How is the Performance on the usual Playstation 5?

Im thinking about buying this game, but heard so often, that its pretty much nonsense to buy it on the PS5

1

u/Icarus--13 1d ago

100 hours into PS5 version here. Game is perfectly playable on PS5. Play on Balance. Some textures (mostly characters in real time cutscenes) in some of the more intense areas (I'm looking at you Basin) may be janky but overall the game looks and runs well.

7

u/Quazarstar 1d ago

Really don't notice any improvements from the latest update. Shame really.

1

u/Azerhan 1d ago

Does the update erase the others fix ?

3

u/levlow 1d ago

gathering hub has a lot of texture loading issues for me whenever i turn the camera

6

u/PhysikBuch 1d ago

Literally unplayable, crashes every 5min in a quest old and new content since TU1. Do we have to worry every patch if the game is playable or not?

4

u/myrmecii 1d ago edited 1d ago

The update make my CPU usage at 100% while GPU below 80%, before the game utilizing the GPU more than CPU. Also the framerate drop like crazy

Edit: After revalidating game file integrity there is 1 corrupt file so the game redownload that then i delete shader cache, now my game back to normal, utilizing GPU more than the CPU and the FPS back to normal also

1

u/JFK360NoScopeLmao 1d ago

What did you mean by revalidate game file integrity, what did you do specifically?

1

u/Japaladino 1d ago

Steam > Right Click the Game > Properties > Installed Files > Verify Integrity of game files

1

u/Grief-Jerky 1d ago

The stuttering is driving me crazy, looking for validation for my insanity as I see other people with 4090's saying they have resolved it.Is anyone here with a similar system still struggling with stuttering in base camps and when panning the camera out in the "Wilds"? RTX 4090, ryzen 7 7800x3d, 32gb cl30 DDR5. Latest chip set and gpu drivers installed, I've recompiled shaders and installed reframework. If it's nothing to do with my system then this has to be the worst port since Jedi Survivor and Wild Hearts.

1

u/Independent_Royal138 1d ago

5090 and Ryzen 7 9800x3d here, game is literally unplayable. More stutters than ever before. I had to check on 3dmark and cinebench if something was wrong with my setup. Actually no, it’s just the game after the update. I was playing fine before but now the stuttering like crazy and I feel like I lost a good chunk of fps it’s like it’s running worse than before, I m only hitting 110 fps where I had way more before. I don’t understand… this game is not that great.

2

u/Grief-Jerky 1d ago

Did you recompile your shaders after the new patch? that helped a lot apparently.

1

u/Independent_Royal138 18h ago

No unfortunately I don’t know how to recompile shaders. Can you tell me or link me a guide on how to do so ? I have had better results atm turning off high res texture pack from steam. But the annoying thing is I bought a 5090 to get the most fps while playing with the highest quality setting and I m annoyed by how it turns out for this game in particular.

1

u/Grief-Jerky 10h ago

Find the game's directory, you can right click the game on Steam and select properties then browse local files. Once there find the file shader.cache2 and delete it,this will force the game to recompile shaders next time you start the game.

1

u/Aware-Evidence-5170 1d ago

I run a similar system but worse (13900K+5080, DDR5 @ 5600 MHz).

It's going to take some effort but I would recommend installing Special K as it allows you to override the game's broken reflex implementation. That should help with the framepacing issues. You could also use it to pace native frames and make the game look smoother if you're running frame gen.

I recorded some footage mainly to test the hi-res texture pop-in issue this patch (this is with 4x FG + DLSS4 override). I saw no stutter asides from texture pop-ins and some network lag (rubber-banding palicos). I would expect your system to run smoother than mine since you have enough VRAM to actually use hires textures, and a X3D CPU.

1

u/Grief-Jerky 1d ago

I did use Special K for Starfield, thanks for the recommendation I might have to install it again and give it a go. Watched your footage and I was so jealous of how smooth it was compared to what I'm getting,I'm starting to thing something may be wrong with my system.

1

u/HiDefMusic 1d ago

Are you using FSR? I've only ever encountered (bad) stuttering when using FSR but not with DLSS. REFramework doesn't really seem to make any difference for me.

Make sure you're using DLSS and also use DLSS Swapper to swap out the DLL for the newest version of DLSS.

2

u/Grief-Jerky 1d ago

No, I'm also using DLSS swapper which doesn't seem to be helping at all :(

5

u/HappyCocoMan 1d ago

The title update makes me crash way more often now.

6

u/Nick2the4reaper7 1d ago

Game is still same performance for me, but I'm just using a gb more VRAM with the same settings lmao

5

u/howar31 1d ago

Games literally not playable after title 1 update. 5070Ti + 9800X3D only got 20 fps. Used to be 65+ fps before update.

6

u/Robab222784 R9 9950X3D | MSI RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5 6000mhz | X870E Godlike 1d ago

Game is borderline unplayable for me, crashes every 10 minutes. I completely uninstalled the game and then deleted any remaining files using Revo Uninstaller Pro. After redownloading the game it only didn't crash for little over an hour or so, after that it resumed breaking every few minutes.

Even setting aside the crashes, the game does not run any better, it usually runs worse or about the same if I'm lucky. Doesn't matter what I do to the settings, it runs terribly with random large frame drops.

What the actual fuck is wrong with Capcom and the PC version of this game? At least the game was barely playable before the title update.

4

u/Akowyn 1d ago

Deleted my reframework and all related files. It kept crashing game many times after that. Game ran with the idinput8.dll, kept reinstalling reframework.. got bad screen stuttering ingame. I'm just deleting all the game files and reinstalling the game in the morning. Hope it will work

Is there a better solution to running reframework with a mod manager or something? I don't wanna go through this eachupdate

1

u/Aware-Evidence-5170 1d ago

I would not uninstall reframework, it fixes the stuttery mess that Capcom has made for themselves due to their DRM. I did not touch a single file and my game works perfectly fine (I have REFramework and Special K installed). There were some big performance improvements this patch, seeing as how I can now use hires textures on my 16 GB GPU.

But if you do want to uninstall it. Then alongside with deleting all the REFramework and dinput8.dll file, delete your shader cache, and make sure a file called REFramework.dll does not exist in your game folder.

2

u/ContraBit 1d ago

stuttering from the hi-res textures seems to be fixed (using geforce now ultimate rig)

6

u/orphans 1d ago

I played for about 2 hours after the update and noticed no appreciable performance improvement.

u/kawarazu SnS / DB 2d ago edited 2d ago

Updates fucked things up, I can see microstutters now. 4070 Ti Super

Deleting shader cache did work. Thank you for the recco, stutters gone

2

u/Azerhan 1d ago

I have the same graphic card, and I’m downloading the update - that asked me ~218go of free space, I had to delete some games on my ssd 🤡

How do you clear the shader cache ? I ask it before in case of

2

u/kawarazu SnS / DB 1d ago

  • Click Manage
  • Click Browse Local Files
  • In the folder that pops up, delete shader.cache, or shader.cache2

Make sure your Ray Tracing isn't turned on. I had it off before the update but for some reason it was turned back on after the update.

2

u/reficurg 2d ago

I verified files and deleted my shader cache. Game is buttery smooth at 60 fps on my 4080S at 3440x1440

3

u/ELFCHASER 1d ago

I'll be sure to try that. the shader cache is in the game files, yes?

2

u/Bitter-Ferret5229 1d ago

Yeah, in the game folder there's a file literally called "shader.cache"

I had it on before so that doesn't matter. It only affects water and testing with it off and on showed less than 2 fps difference average. thanks tho

Try deleting your shader cache and see if that helps any. There are a few people saying that doing that fixed the low frame rate issues.

7

u/MrkGrn 2d ago

Ok the newest patch seems to have fucked everything up cause I had zero issues and now I have constant hitching, fps dropping to low 20s in the main menu and straight up freezing on me

Try deleting the shader cache. There are a few people saying that doing that resolved their low frame rate issues.

2

u/Reginault 2d ago

I'm getting the hitching too, not even in a lobby just menuing. Starts immediately after the logo splash screens.

It seemed to stop after i idled on the menu for 15 minutes...

u/jzaudi 2d ago

Make sure your Ray Tracing isn't turned on. I had it off before the update but for some reason it was turned back on after the update.

2

u/tommyblastfire 2d ago

Holy cow, I just updated my motherboard bios. My 5700xt + r5 3600 at 1080p went from 30 seconds of 5 fps every few minutes on super performance upscaling medium graphics to completely stable on AMD Native AA. Wow I can actually see what the game looks like now…

5

u/the_corbynite 2d ago

anyone had any luck reducing the awful dlss artifacts?

6

u/cantthink278 2d ago

I officially can’t play at all. Not sure what’s going on.

4090 oc, 14900k, 64gb 6000 cl30. If I make it into the actual game/load into town, I seem to crash within 60 seconds usually within 10 though. Tried rolling back my drivers, disabling frame gen, tried playing on my 4k tv and 1440p monitor but no bueno.

I’ve tried probably 20+ times with all random fixes but nothing seems to work, game is literally unplayable for me…

1

u/Shorkan 2d ago

Disable any and all OC and undervolt.

I had a very stable undervolt on MSI Afterburner that never gave me any crash in any game or benchmark, but Wilds kept crashing until I disabled it. A lot more people with similar experiences.

1

u/cantthink278 2d ago

Really? I definitely have an undervolt/oc on both my cpu/gpu. I will give it a go with everything set to default

1

u/Shorkan 2d ago

If I were you I would try just disabling the GPU stuff. I don't realize having reading anyone complaining about CPU OC, and I'm pretty sure mine is OC'd (but I don't really remember anymore lol).

OC and undervolt on nvidia GPUs was a no-go for sure. Plenty of people confirming it.

Also, you don't even need to restart your computer. In my case, just clicking "Reset" on Afterburner and launching the game will result on a completely crash-free experience. Applying my undervolt and launching the game will make me crash in less than 15 minutes.

2

u/cantthink278 2d ago

Yep you are the bomb. It’s run for 5 minutes now which is the longest it’s run since I disabled the afterburner settings. I truly hope they fix this sooner than later so I don’t have to keep turning off afterburner only in MH

0

u/Aware-Evidence-5170 1d ago

Have you installed REFramework to remove the Capcom anti-tamper DRM? That was the main source of my crashes for me personally. But I have heard that the Nvidia app's overlay can mess the game stability too (wasn't an issue for me).

But tbh if the game crashes because of an undervolt, it just means it's an unstable undervolt. More tuning would be required. I have PL+UV my 13900K CPU and UV+OC my RTX 5080 GPU. The game runs extremely stable even with steam recording running on the background. Last longest session I played was ~5 hours.

You absolutely need to watch your overclocks, an undervolt can be 'benchmark stable' but crashes on gaming workloads. Do note that enabling frame gen complicates the overclocking behaviour even more as the GPU shifts the load from the upper portion of the voltage-freq curve down to the lower half (assuming frame rate limiters are set; GPU usage would be lower).

I'm not sure if it's the same behaviour as on RTX 4000, but on the RTX 5000 gpus there's plenty of clock stretching on the core clocks. You can have an unstable overclock even when the synthetic benchmarks are fine and you see a higher core clocks. In this case, a higher boost clockspeed does not neccessarily mean it's better. For reference, my GPU is UV+Overclocked to 3150 Mhz @ 990 mV with memory running at 36 Gbps (ie. 4 Gbps over the memory spec; +2500 MHz memory on MSI afterburner). Anything above 3170 MHz has degraded the GPU's performance + stability. However I could get things stable if I lower my GPU memory overclock down to spec. Takeaway is - if you have time, try figuring out the optimal memory overclock for your core clocks.

2

u/Shorkan 2d ago

Glad it worked.

Sadly, it's been an issue since the first beta weekend, and I don't think they have ever acknowledged it. I'm pretty sure that with all the tech issues they have to deal with, people fiddling with OC aren't in their priority list.

u/Hour-Ad-5116 2d ago

Hey im running 9070 max settings and Framegen only works in windowed mode for some reason running 150-170 FPS with it on but when i swap to borderless the framegen seems to stop working and is laggy af any fixes?

1

u/Instincttt2 2d ago

Hey if anyone can help, I recently upgraded from a 4060TI to a 9070xt and its not performing how I would expect. I know the game runs pretty awful right now regardless but somehow my framerate is basically the same regardless if I'm playing it on lowest or ultra (stuck between 40-60fps). It is my first time switching GPU brands but I did uninstall nvidia drivers. I've also tried clearing the shaders cache. Any advice?

This is what I'm running on.

1

u/Hour-Ad-5116 2d ago

force enable FSR4 on adrenaline app and dont use high res textures those are bugged. should be seeing nothing below 60 FPS on an XT

1

u/Instincttt2 2d ago

I have FSR 4 enabled and I went down to medium settings with high res off to see and I'm still only hitting 50-60fps

1

u/Hour-Ad-5116 2d ago

heres the full photo

1

u/Instincttt2 2d ago

See that is what I would expect, I bought this cause I heard really great things about it lol I just don't get why my framerate stays the same regardless of settings, let alone the fact that its sub 60 frames

1

u/Hour-Ad-5116 2d ago

maybe ur drivers are wrong cause since u got the XT version u should technically be running 10% faster than my setup

1

u/Hour-Ad-5116 2d ago

9070 non XT max settings AMD Native AA Ray High

1

u/Ok-Championship7878 1d ago

You are running framegen and he is not

u/Chyiu 2d ago

Anyone else crashing on startup atm? been fine up until today

1

u/User5228 1d ago

I played for about 20 min and was booted from the servers and I have not been able to access the game since. I get to the menu then get communication errors.

2

u/Chyiu 1d ago

Reinstalling seemed to have fixed the startup crash for me but it’s still unstable at times

1

u/Front-Cabinet5521 2d ago

Is there a way to force FSR4 in Wilds?

1

u/Hour-Ad-5116 2d ago

use the AMD adrenaline app

1

u/Front-Cabinet5521 2d ago

I have an nvidia card, is it still possible?

1

u/hibio 2d ago

FS4 atm is a technology exclusive to the 9070/9070 XT cards, you can’t use FS4 with an Nvidia card. I assume you might have meant DLSS 4? If that’s the case it is possible to override older dlss versions with dlss4 on any 20X0 or newer gen card.

I’d recommend this tutorial:https://youtu.be/wxN6qesUgN8?si=FkjIOb9M4ngmmDiG

2

u/Yeboi_SogeKing 2d ago

It kept crashing on startup, ran it on windows 8, worked but the background island was rapidly stuttering (dont know the word for it) but it basically looked like shit. Graphics was shite ofc even tho i have an rx 6900 XT and a 32gb ram.

Installed and uninstalled it over and over, deleted crash files/ moved em to other folders, did all the YT guides and yes my driver is up to date.

Hopefully theres a solution for this shitty scam of a game :((

2

u/zidolos 2d ago

Uh Windows 10 is a minimum requirement so that might be the first step

2

u/Yeboi_SogeKing 2d ago

Its windows 11. When i said i ran it on widows 8 i meant i did both. 11 and 8

3

u/LazyMasterBaiter 3d ago

I faced this weird issue where the game is basically playable but once in a cutscene it goes from roughly 90fps to what shows as 6fps, and only in cutscenes anyone else faced a similar issue?

1

u/Floodborne 1d ago

I have also experienced this. No fix that I know of, though.

1

u/xdipcorn 3d ago

Hello everyone Did anyone had performance issues after updating their drivers?? 4080 super I used to have around 115 fps avg, but after nvidia latest driver, it went down to around 80 fps without changing any settings

1

u/Puwun 2d ago

Yes. many devs have recommend rolling back to 566.36

2

u/Fun-Adeptness43 3d ago

I'm getting lots of frametime spikes and stuttering inRuins of Wysteria, anyone else having this issue? Framerate drops have become much more frequent since the game's release, and textures take MUCH longer to fully load in. Utterly disappointed at the optimization when it's otherwise a really fun game.

u/Old-Conversation6953 2d ago

This has been happening to me as well

Hello, I have a Ryzen 7 with an RTX 4060 and according to a YouTube video with the same components, it runs it at ultra at 77 FPS with DLSS and I put the same configuration on my PC but it gives me drops up to 15 fps and there is a line that constantly cuts the image. I would greatly appreciate your help, since I am new to the PC world. Thank you!!

2

u/FrostyPotpourri 4d ago

Best to specify exactly what your CPU is. "Ryzen 7" just means Ryzen 7000 series, of which there are many models.

Also need to state if you're on 1080p or 1440p resolution. I could see the 4060 running on ultra at 77 fps with DLSS on 1080p, but definitely not 1440p. I had a 3060 ti on 1440p and was lucky to hit 77 fps with settings on medium and using the DLSS 4 mod (though my CPU wasn't as new as yours). And 3060 tis generally perform on par with 4060s.

Are you on a laptop? GPUs on laptop don't perform as well as non-laptop GPUs for power/cooling reasons.

Basically we need a lot more details about your exact specs and settings. Best to link the video as well, because various benchmarks show various things.

Yeah, I don't know everything here. I basically extracted more info from this user in hopes of providing more details. I didn't give any advice.

Is it wrong of me to pry for more info in hopes someone else comes along and helps? Point me to the advice I gave.

2

u/Tuyosdel 4d ago

You are absolutely right, it is a ryzen 7 5700g, I am at 1080p. And it's a desktop PC, tell me what else you need to know and I'll answer you as quickly as I can. Thank you

Y este es el video donde ví las configuraciones. https://youtu.be/h8tIUxLDsL0?si=azly-57diUg6LmeK

1

u/FrostyPotpourri 4d ago

I haven't heard of the 5700g until now but apparently it's not a very strong processor for gaming. Apparently it has on board graphics -- is there a chance your CPU is producing the graphics and basically unable to run MH Wilds when you should instead have your 4060 driving graphics?

Again, I don't know much about this CPU but a quick search showed that it has its own graphics processor. And that it's a lot weaker than 5700X and the 5700X3D for gaming. On 1080p 15 FPS sounds very low.

2

u/Tuyosdel 4d ago edited 4d ago

The texture pack is the one that sends the FPS to 15 when I am in a recommended room with many people But because in the video it runs super normal in ultra and with the texture pack and I can't u.u

According to me, you are using the 4060 and not the processor

I’m probably one of the few lucky souls that has the game running buttery smooth. However, this weirdly only happens after I restart my PC every time.

So for example, whenever I first start up the PC and play Wilds, the game doesn’t actually run that well. But after restarting my PC, the moment I boot up Wilds, the game actually runs flawlessly (like barely noticeable dips in performance).

Any idea why is this so? Does Windows run something that only fixes itself after a restart? I’m just wondering if there is any fix to this because it’s just a tad bit inconvenient. But if this is the only way the game can run smoothly, then so be it 😂

1

u/Linkarlos_95 4d ago

Disable fast boot

1

u/zatroz 4d ago

IIRC, by default Windows only "hibernates" your PC when pressing "shut down", it saves some sruff for a quicker boot. But Restart does a true restart from scratch. Might be that some of the stuff that's being carried over from when you last shut it down is what causes the slowdown, and rebooting cleans the slate so to speak. There's a way to disable this "fake shutdown", a quick google search should do it.

For some reason my game keep crashing when hunting on the Scarlet Forest, this only happen after I finished Low Rank story. This crash appear to be random as sometime I managed the finished some quests in the forest and then a few quest later the game crash.

My Specs:

Ryzen 7 5700X3D

RX 6800XT

24GB RAM

Game setting:

1920x1080

AMD FSR 3

Frame Gen Off

Upscaling Mode: AMD Native AA

Ray Tracing Off

Other graphic setting at highest

3

u/zatroz 4d ago

Try checking integrity of game files

1

u/Need_Sleeep 4d ago

Nope, still crash sometime

4

u/SpankedEagle 5d ago

Haven't played for a few days, now when the game first loads up during the title screen it freezes for a few seconds before continuing, sometimes multiple times. Anyone else running into this?

2

u/Aar0nGG 5d ago

I don't know if it was due to the last patch or Nvidia drivers, but I'm getting texture loading slower more frequently now and it's getting annoying... it used to be fine and would happen rarely, now it happens almost everytime I enter the Plains Base Camp

2

u/Zealousideal_Chef476 5d ago

I have this weird high MS is this normal? I use DLSS 4 (Forced with swapper) and FG Balanced

Oh and sometimes game becomes literally unplayable, like 10-15fps, after restarting game it gets back to normal, weird thing,

it shows 85fps but somehow feel like its not smooth, like still there is something mini lagging, is it because of MS or FG? (Sometimes MS rises to 100+)

Graphics: Mostly Medium-Low,, some High like wind simulation, surface quality and bloom

My MAIN question is that i feel like i have low fps and i think i have good enough laptop to handle this game, and even with DLSS and FG sometimes I have only 60-70 FPS, I think its too low what do you guys think

My Specs:
RTX 4070 (Laptop)
i9 - 13980HX
16GB Ram
Laptop - Asus rog strix g16

2

u/TreyChips 4d ago

even with DLSS and FG sometimes I have only 60-70 FPS

If you have 60fps with Frame-gen enabled, then that means your base frame-rate is 30fps which is extremely low for using with frame-gen.

For reference, Nvidia themselves recommend only using Frame-gen with a base frame-rate of 60 otherwise the input latency it occurs will be too much.

It's also why you have 70+ms latency.

2

u/Zealousideal_Chef476 2d ago

but shouldn't my specs be more than enough to play at at least 50 fps on low medium graphics? without FG

1

u/TreyChips 2d ago

I'm not well versed in laptop builds but it looks like it should definitely be alright so I'm not sure why the base FPS is so low, other than it might be thermal throttling or the RAM might be too little.

0

u/teaismagical 5d ago

Try turning off FG as it will incur a base FPS cost which would also add more latency.

1

u/Easy-Bike-3778 6d ago

Is there a way to fix the LOD pop up (sometimes delays rendering)? I'm having issues with it even I'm on the High Preset, it still happens a lot. I'm running on 4060 TI 32gb Ryzen 5 7600x 6 core

Game Settings
High Preset with volumetric fog on low
frame gen - enabled
ray tracing - off

1080p game resolution

Mods:
REFramework

Persistent Buff Glow Removal

DirectStorage 1.2.2 Upgrade to 1.2.3 - IO Stutter Fix

Disable Lens Distortion

Faster Popup Messages

Sorry for bad english

1

u/IsekaiAoko 4d ago

Supposedly volumetric fog is to hide the pop in textures. What is your draw distance set to? Some people claim capping fps to 60 and the DirectStorage to 1.2.3 helps with this issue, but you’re already doing the DirectStorage. Are you on ddr5 ram? What ssd do you have? Is your 4060 ti the 8 or 16 gb vram version?

1

u/Specific_Manager2451 6d ago

RTX 4070ti with a i5-14600k 32gb ddr5 6000 with a wd black sn770 ssd and yeah the fps i am seeing rn while just in the village area is 85 fps. I am playing at 1440p with settings on high (no high res textures) but damn the fps is fucking bad no raytracing on, on cold war 1440p all maxed out with high res assets and raytracing set on max i easily hit 144+ smooth experience, on marvel rivals with everything maxed at 1440p even with everyone throwing ults still a good high fps smooth experience (unless someone tps with strange fuck the tps) but over all smooth, damn MHW is optimized pretty bad

2

u/NefariousnessWise922 6d ago

Has anyone encountered this. The game was running fine yesterday

1

u/Philtronx 5d ago

Yeah have that happen occasionally. I've since quit the game until they do something about the performance.

1

u/Aedan_1996 5d ago

I had a similar bug, apparently shaders where failing due to a problem with the ssd: https://deltiasgaming.com/how-to-fix-monster-hunter-wilds-ssd-crash-error/

2

u/Shadowciaw 6d ago

I have a 5900x, 32 gb ram, and a 9070 xt with frame gen off. The game never goes past ~70 fps no matter if I'm on high or low graphics settings. Has anyone else had this?

5

u/Due-Ad4403 6d ago

i play the game on ultra settings with no fps problems but the game looks like its made in 2010

3

u/MrkGrn 6d ago

Playing in 1440p with FSR AA Native and Frame Gen with an i9 13900k and an RX 7800 XT. Get a stable High 80s to mid 70fps, hardest impact I get is the plains where it drops to high 60s. Everything maxed out minus ray tracing with high res textures. Only time I've had crashes is when I messed with ray tracing settings. After seeing it on max settings and seeing barely any difference at all I figured it wasn't worth the trouble or dent to performance.

2

u/Marcitessa6412 Percussa 6d ago

I was able to boot the game first time with huge lag, so I closed and reopened but now every time I just get a frozen black screen and need to force quit the game :( I haven’t been able to play at all

Ryzen 7 9700x, RX 7800 XT, 32gb

1

u/Auditory_Whiplash 6d ago

I had the same issue. I ran the verify integrity (no issues) started it up and it was a black screen. I let it sit for 2-3 minutes and it actually started. I assume it’s something with the shaders

1

u/Marcitessa6412 Percussa 6d ago

I’ve been letting it sit for 10-15 mins and no luck :/ also uninstalled/reinstalled + deleted the shaders file, so that isn’t the issue anymore

1

u/Auditory_Whiplash 6d ago

Lame :| wish they would launch stuff and it actually work lol

1

u/Few-Language1159 7d ago

I've been playing at 60+ fps since I bought this at the beginning of the month and woke up this morning to barely being able to get above 10 fps. This is bologna.

7

u/Exodan 7d ago

People here talking about frames, but I literally can't complete hunts without crashing. i7 12th gen + 3070. Especially in multiplayer.

9

u/lost_vault_hunter 7d ago

Performance on PC still total shit. WTF did I waste my money on this game? i7 12700k, 4070ti, 32gb 5600 playing at 1440.

10

u/Asura64 8d ago

Was there a recent update on PC? Been getting big fps drops and 100% CPU usage when it's been running with no problems since launch before this

1

u/lil_matchez 4d ago

This just started happening to me yesterday. Have ben playing at 120fps since launch but now get intermittent fps drops (sometimes to 1-4 fps). Were you able to find a fix?

1

u/Swag_XALT 6d ago

I have to launch the game with SpecialK i also used Nukem FG mod. But game still suffers from other problems like dropping my friend mid Jin Dahad fight, then lagging in a way that caused me and the remaining party to all die in one hit. So idk if I could at least get 60fps at all times I would have less to complain about.

3

u/Prism_Zet 7d ago

I've been seeing similar in the last day or two, no big cpu hits, but the game drops to like 15 fps randomly between 10 min and like an hour, and doesn't get fixed till I restart the game.

1

u/xevious92 6d ago

Same here, was experiencing this today while on Plains map mid hunt. Game would suddenly start dropping frames steadily until like 20-30 fps from 120+ fps normally. It actually recovered back to normal after about 2-3 minutes but it was very odd.

1

u/Character-Poetry2992 8d ago

Heya I have ryzen 9 zephyrus g14 with a rtx3050ti and was wondering if anyone has figured out how to get mhwilds working on it at a decent fps?

4

u/Some_Ordinary5229 8d ago

got an 9800x3d and 7900xtx , 2 weeks ago, back like 1-2 weeks ago i was on ultra and 8k textures on a 1440p setting. Got 150-180 fps, since 2 days i got huge spikes. only thing i did since it got bad was installing rgb software. these spike go down to 60 fps and sometimes hold there for a short amout of time

3

u/DifficultInspection9 7d ago

Same here i rock a 4070 oc super gpu, 14700kf cpu. On everything ultra 3440x1440 i had about 80-90 fps last week, now i go between 50-60. I can only play on fridays and Saturdays only so it's been 1-2 weeks sence i played last. Crazy drop with no settings change.

Hi, I already wrote a post on Wilds reddit about this bug (https://www.reddit.com/r/MHWilds/comments/1jisfor/has_anyone_encountered_this_bug_and_managed_to/) but had no answer. Basically, I got this problem every time I open the game: textures/models become all black and then, usually during a loading screen, the game freeze and PC reboot itself. This happens only with this game. I also tried to run some tests, for like a day, such as memtest and aida64 to see if it's a hardware related problem but I haven't got any error. Hoping that someone can help me, my pc spec are: Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon 6800xt, 32gb RAM, Gigabyte b650 eagle mobo.

EDIT: After losing all hope I kept surfing on the internet trying to find someone who had the same bug as mine and apparently it's the SSD, the WD black sn770 one in particular: https://deltiasgaming.com/how-to-fix-monster-hunter-wilds-ssd-crash-error/

1

u/Username928351 8d ago

What version drivers are you on? I tried 25.3.1 on my RX 6750 XT and it was a disaster. Went back to 24.Q4 (pro drivers) and it was substantially more stable.

2

u/Aedan_1996 8d ago

mmmmh interesting, I have 25.3.1 too, I'll try to downgrade it tomorrow. Have you used ddu?

1

u/Username928351 8d ago

I used it to be sure just in case. Boot into safe mode, DDU, reboot, reinstall drivers.

2

u/Aedan_1996 7d ago

Ok, rolled back to 22.Q4 pro driver, after recompiling shaders I got the flicklering rock textures bug. I joined a room just to check if there where any problem, as soon as the loading screen ended I got the black shape bug with crash of the game followed by pc reboot

1

u/SaltPaleontologist41 8d ago

Perhaps try decompressing your textures

2

u/Aedan_1996 8d ago

Tried a mod to decompressing textures, nothing changed tho

1

u/SaltPaleontologist41 8d ago

Uhhh, have you tried verifying integrity or reinstalling?

2

u/Aedan_1996 7d ago

yes, both, and still got the issue :/
