are you surprised? nearly every game from a AAA company has shit pc optimization. Nier Automata, one of my favorite games, has one of the WORST pc ports in history and is damn near unplayable without the FAR mod. MH World launch on pc was TERRIBLE at launch too, mods to remove lightning effects and other particle effects were very popular in the early months of release.

I literally downloaded a mod to remove the bloom and another mod to fix the weird lighting in this game.

It's actually hilarious how good the game looks with all the post processing turned off.

Performance too. I was always hesitant to play world because of how flashy and shiny it looked. Just something about the lighting made everything too shiny and looked like it was covered in oil. I gave in when I got a pc and got some mods. A reshade filter and turned the bloom way down. Made a huge effing difference it looks way better now

Wasn't Automata patched? (yes, it took forever, but pretty sure it was eventually fixed)

It makes meremembers the Dark Souls release on PC, which got a huge help from a modder to get a lot of better details/effect.

I mean, the original DS1 was nigh unplayable on PC without the DSFix mod. Not only was it locked to 30 FPS and 720p, it was also stuck to the shitass Games for Windows Live as a nice cherry on top.

Shit, even DS2 was a mess. Playing on PC was super rough since weapon durability was tied to framerate, meaning that 60fps = your weapon breaks twice as fast.

And dont forget that attacks had a half second delay as they decided "hold mouse click" was used for another attack type too so it had to wait and see which the player wanted

I remember that port. Holy god damn that was a bad one. Extra terrestrials must live among us because whoever came up with the Mouse and Keyboard controls for DS1 could not have been from this planet.

The worst part is that most games aren't even meant to run natively anymore. You're expected to use upscaling to fix the lack of any optimization

Its very believable, in fact. A large amount of people does not give a shit about performance, they are so hyped beyond their minds that they will play no matter what, they know this, developers know this, executives know this.

Why games are releasing and will continue to release in garbage state like this? Because the incentive to make them run better quite literally doesn’t exist.
