I honestly knew this would happen the second I saw skills would be tied to weapons, because it requires Capcom to actually know the weapons. Like, Dual Blades with crit draw...what?
Yea there are just questionable decisions everywhere. Like what is the point of designing beautiful looking weapons across the board and then having the artian weapons just be best in slot?
I just can't bring myself to use the artian weapons. They look so uninspiring compared to any of the monster ones. Honestly, I don't even care if I'm sacrificing 10 or 20 percent damage it's not like the hunts take that long anyway
I followed the avalanche to its logical conclusion. Take out the cats and the armor skills and start making it into a mass effect dialogue game, and it sorta stops feeling like a monster hunter game. The action is there, sure. Hunting monsters is awesome. I just don't understand why they're still asking their writers to put cat puns in the game. It's obvious they're already on the chopping block. Where is the hair in my food? And why are there skills on my weapons??
Monster Hunter: Hack n Slash Wars is coming sooner than ya think.
Also no need to call me braindead. I actually have a ton of neurons firing right now, much activity.
Well some people mean what they say. I somehow missed the trailers for this release and decided I'd stick with that and enjoy my surprise when the game releases.
How I was supposed to expect this level of nightmare is ridiculous. Why is the player character talking? Where are all the monsters? Where are the felyne chefs? Why are they putting skills on weapons and taking them off armor? Why is the camp so crowded?
I look at this and it just feels like the least monster hunter inspired title of monster hunter titles.
It's obviously a monster hunter game still, but that line is blurred as fuuuuuck for players like me. Whyd the spirit and fun of these games have to get axed?
It's been a while since I've had the time to enjoy these and I'm having an existential crisis as the bullet train speeds by the old station covered in cat stickers I'm stuck at.
Well enjoy it while you can because felyne chefs were a part of the identity as well and that's gone and with it a lot of my love for the franchise moving forward. Our characters disgusting voice cost us our beloved kitty cooks.
Idk. Like, I get the problem. Artian are mathematically better and without layered, it sucks. But, on the other hand, if they’re, at MOST, only 7% better, then it’s really not that big of a deal for the vast majority of players. I think it’s a solid chase for the end of HR because of that. You don’t need them so if you’re the type of player that just wants to keep playing, here’s a solid grind. If you aren’t someone who wants that, then there’s no real fomo in not getting them because they aren’t really necessary.
I said it wasn’t that big of a deal for a vast majority of people, aka the average player. If you’re speedrunning, then yeah, you’ll notice the 7% difference. But if you’re just trying to normally hunt a monster, a 7% weaker weapon won’t greatly impact your hunting time. I’m not spectacular at math, but you’d only be losing a couple of minutes at most. That’s not really something that requires Artian.
As a db main i would say no to safi/kulve type of weapon no matter what. Hell! if it means not having kulve in the game than i am willing to sacrifice. No matter what element weapon every guide has the same answer "go get kjarr weapons" the fun was gone farming the same guy. And even with CUREDOSIN mods majority of cool weapon replacements were non kulve weapons. smh.
We should be able to use layered weapons from any of the other tier 8's. Even if it's limited to weapons of the same element. So you can make your fire artisan look like a rathian weapon.
What they call loadouts should be renamed to armour sets. A loadout should mean an armour set + restock item pouch + layered armour all with one button push. With an option so you can apply the layer universally to all gear, or if you want you can have specific layers saved to loadouts.
The Xu Wu Gloves keep dropping their decorations when you load them in a loadout too. It's super annoying having to resocket the decos every time. I stopped using the gloves because of it.
Admittedly I think the portable team just knows how to have more fun with it lol. Kind of seems consistent the past few games. I love 4U, but GU just hit better
Iunno, my Rank 8 Lala Barina Daggers have yet to be replaced by an artian weapon. They are always lagging behind in both damage categories and affinity, even with good rolls.
In fact no other weapon so far came close to compete with them.
Other than the Lala Barina Lance having the problem mentioned in OP, that tree has consistently had some of the highest raw, along with positive affinity, the best sharpness, paralysis being a great bonus, and decent slots... I've basically used that line almost the entire game, with a few dips into the O-Dog set since it gets Offensive Guard and upgrades at different times so the raw usually gets better.
Artian Gun Lance is not best in slot due to not being able to get better shelling and not caring as much about white sharpness. I get your point, but that is a weapon type where the artian versions are worse.
I really want to try some silly builds, like a Paralysis/Poison DB + Bow. But I also know that despite how cool they are, the meta will probably just be WEX/Burst/Raw or Elemental...again.
I like the idea of them but Artian weapons feel like they should have come waaaaay later, and have some sort of drawback so they aren't just the best choice all the time.
They're clearly basing it on the monsters and not on the weapon type.
They already struggled to balance weapons in the first place to the point where most weapons weren't usable and served no purpose in existing beyond layered appearances... not sure why they thought adding skills to the weapons to further exacerbate this problem was a good idea.
My favourite is gunlance where you can ignore 60%-70% of the roster due to them not having slightly stronger shells. Shells are now based off attack, why do we need varying scales that just eliminates any use of the weapon.
I can’t remember without looking but I swear there was also a bow with critical draw on it. I could be wrong though, I was mostly irritated with a lot of the poorly thought out skills thrown onto the weapons.
That at least has a niche, weird as it is. Bow can hold its charge directly out of a draw and fire off whatever it wants as a draw attack, including dragon piercer.
At least for my feeling on a lot of these CritDraw weapons is they wanted them to exist for ledge abusers.
CritDraw changed in Wilds to not just be the first hit, but for a duration after unsheathing, meaning you can do things like unsheathe hammer charge and it apply on the full attack, unsheathe off a ledge using demon mode and go into heavenly blade dance, etc.
I don't think it's particularly good minus some really specific optimization or meme playstyles, but we also have no idea what's coming maybe there will be a Valor mode mantle or something in the expac
Crit draw applies to the entire combo after drawing. Ive been using it on all my insect glaives and it’s actually cracked. You can even do draw into a vault spin attack and the entire spin will crit.
Crit Draw makes no sense on Lance because you'd never have a reason to sheathe in the first place. Especially in this game, where Guard Up covers all attacks that are normally unblockable.
You clearly don't know much about dual blades if you think crit draw on it makes no sense. In arch-demon mode your draw attack is flurry rush, a multi hit attack, and dual blades has a mechanic where if the first hit of one of your multi-hit combos is a crit then every following hit is a crit as well.
So dual blades with crit draw and either crit element or crit status in this game is absurdly strong and a very good combo on capcom's part.
