That was actually a super good quest. Starts out as a silly joke and ends with "I hope you actually learned this fight, because there's no room for mistakes".
Ugh, Crystal-Ya-Ku, that bird was responsible for the literal ONLY ass beating I took throughout all of World/Iceborn *slams head on desk trying to forget*
World was my first monster hunter game. It won against me my first time trying to hunt it. Let me tell you, getting bodied by this fucking comedy chicken is the most tilting fucking thing in the world. When I finally got to high rank I spent a significant amount of time just hunting this fucker out of pure spite.
I beats my sanity pretty efficiently, especially because they gather and then you are facing 3+ at once, all charging at you, spitting fireballs or tail spinning and knocking you about like a ragdoll.
Note that Hildibrand Quests have a unique style that most other quests don’t share, if that’s what you are looking for.
The main story is written very well in certain parts (like The Shadowbringer expansion and the Dark Knight questline), but has many low points that may discourage new players.
I'm just a few hours in and that's pretty depressing to hear. They really pulled an FFXV with the car or in this case, the seikrat to skip populating the world with stuff to do and explore.
The weird this is it feels like the opposite. There's plenty to do and explore and the bird speedruns you passed all of it. Once I beat the story I enjoyed myself capturing all the endemic life, farming crystals (which you can't slinger grab from mount), and finding the base camp areas that I missed.
"Well then just don't ride the mount!" It's not that easy though. Still have monkey brain, game designed to speedrun us around the world via bird taxi.
I miss that first couple minutes in ancient forest before you spotted the monster.
You'd find it right away after finding a track if you hunted it before, so it didn't take super long, but for maybe a minute you would be just walking in the woods looking around.
That's totally gone. You push the go to monster button and then spin around looking for materials to claw. The game never really gives you a chance to stop walking for a second and look through the canopy and listen to the birds.
Tbf, you can do that on your own time, the game doesn't stop you. For someone like me, I just want to get to hunting my monster, thats what I play the franchise for. Sure it can be cool but I'm not into the PokeSnap or Phoenix Wright investigations World had and sure as hell would hate it for that to be the norm as it'e never been the main selling point of the franchise since time immemorial.
I wish you could leave the bird and the handler at the camp, because walking when my mount is following me around and my handler riding her own mount is behind me makes me feel like I should also be riding my bird.
You are both right and wrong. The game doesn't stop you. It's just no longer how it is designed to be played. It's no longer on the wayside mechanically.
Coz the only exception ever was Worlds?!? Literally every other MH game didn't have you do any "look for tracks and investigate". That gameplay design wasn't even considered in Rise. What Rise did was just add relics around that drops lore info since no monsters would be ever fought in some areas of the maps and it was optional, but alot of people didn't even bother to do them because it was never the appeal of the franchise. Nothing about what I said is wrong, the game doesn't stop you nor force you so exploring is still there but only for people that want to which is how it should always be.
Just more proof that games are getting uglier compared to 2016-2018. Worst part is, instead of being lighter to run they require hardware twice as powerful. Sad.
This is just what Quematrice does in wilds, always getting into fights it has no hope of winning. And it's always the one that starts them. Over a dozen times ive seen Quematrice run up to an arkveld or a rey dau and yell at it only to get blasted for thousands of damage seconds later.
XYZ vs Arkveld turf wars only initiate after the XYZ is flailing at which point it normally autoloss’ the turf wars only initiate. If arkveld cant knock it on the first contact whatever XYZ is normally gets some pretty decent damage in
I've seen it run into Jin Dahaad on the cliffs and get ABSOLUTELY bodied. Jin didn't give a fuck, just blasted the hell out of Adkveld and it immediately fled.
There is nothing better than being two hits from killing a chatacabra only to have it run off and instantly square up to a dragon god. Absolute legend.
Capcom should make Turf Wars percentage-based and give Kulu a 0.5% chance against Jho by climbing on his back and pecking his eyes out. Jho could then react as if he were hit with a flashbang, giving Kulu enough time to haul ass.
My dream has been a colluseum type area where you can watch monster match ups. Tune the hps and status thresholds so they're not too long but still dynamic with staggers and turf wars and stuff. Throw in a gambling mechanic too, because why wouldn't you.
I think it was World where Odogaron can "Turf War" Deviljho. Jho will quickly remind them of the size difference, thrash Garon around like a ragdoll, use it as a club to attack hunter, and finally yeet it across a great distance.
