A real Tri veteran would know that GU Lagi is but a shadow of its former, glorious water dwelling ancestor.
That game came out 16 years ago and it is where Lagiacrus was at his prime. The wait has been long. Welcome home old friend. I will cherish our clash the same way I've cherished it on my 3DS just this morning.
I doubt it; of course it won't be like fighting him underwater (unless Capcom pulls a huge surprise from their asses but I'm not delusional to that extent).
But Lagi's GU fight is just... sad. And Capcom knows that. Ivory Lagi in 3U was not well received either. The community has a long history of complaining about their fights.
We're talking about Lagi. The poster boy for Tri: a game that, while not having the success of 4U or World, is definitely one that helped break the barrier to the western audience.
We're talking about a monster whose last appearance was a fac simile of its original self, and yet managed to place third in the popularity contest, despite not being as widely available to fight or recent as other monsters. That monster placed 1st in popularity in Europe. Heck, it beat fcking VALSTRAX and GORE MAGALA.
Capcom knows the hype and love around that monster. Because they love it as much as we do; just take a look at what they say about bringing him back in world. "We didn't think we could bring him back and do him justice; but we're working on it".
They're not letting us down. We're getting prime Lagi again.
You mean the one that got one new move underwater? An electrified tackle? While the landlocked Lagi in Generations got several, far more interesting electric moves?
I’m with you here- I know I am in the minority here but I loved the underwater combat and the Lagi fight was a joy. But Wilds is not going to be the one to incorporate underwater combat.

I've been waiting almost 20 years for him to return.
I can wait a bit longer.
