Fun fact: People with certain proclivities often cannot conceive of other people not sharing those proclivities. In this case, a serial sexual assaulter and rapist assumes that all men are prone to the same behavior. This is a prime example of what is commonly known as a “self-report.”

In Danish, we have a common saying for this: “A thief believes everyone steals”

This falls apart once you have had something stolen. Im super wary of thieves but it's cause I've dealt with the violation of somebody breaking in and stealing from me.

How does it fall apart? You having had something stolen of you doesn't change the thiev's perception about how common stealing is

I'm assuming it's an error with my reasoning. "A thief believes everybody steals." therefore a person who believes everybody steals, is a thief.

Thst second part that's insinuated(by me at least) is the thing that falls apart.

"A thief believes everyone steals" does NOT mean "if you believe people steal, you are a thief"

That's like saying "Lemons are yellow" means that everything that is yellow is a lemon, which is obviously not true :)

Oh of course. No need to go onto specifics, but I often misinterpret things and then negatively apply them to myself.
