Is it wrong to fantasize about this as an American?

No, but it would be even greater if you (aka the supposedly sane parts of the American public) did your part and started protesting appropriately?

How come the french will burn shit when some politician sneezes the wrong way, and how come hundreds of thousands to millions of Germans took to the streets for weeks when some politicians who werenā€™t even in power talked about deporting German citizens/revoking the German citizenship of the opposition and those they donā€™t deem German enough, but you (as in Americans) let Trump openly demand deportations of American citizens to El Salvador and nothing happens?

This was Frankfurt in early 2024:

This was Berlin:

Where are your protests? Donā€™t wait for activists to protest for you. They wonā€™t. You have to protest. So do your part and stand united with us against Trump, and do it publicly.

We marched in 2016, it didnā€™t affect our brethren on the right and they voted that rapist back into office. How do you gain anything by protesting against your fellow voters when it just confirms to them that anyone with an education is a crazy leftist? Seriously, Iā€™m open to ideas

You donā€™t. But by protesting you also show the others who disagree that thereā€™s more of you. You make the apathetic folks question why youā€™re protesting and some will create their own stance. Alsoā€¦the marches in 2016 were cool and all, as was BLM, but your current protests havenā€™t even reached BLM levels. You need to not just reach it, but surpass that.

And I know it can be frustrating, but protesting and turning out is still your best course of action. But if you donā€™t turn out and keep turning out, nobody will. Be active. Invite folks to protests, advertise protests. Bring friends and tell them to bring friends and to tell these friends to bring friends and so on. Itā€™s clear that not nearly enough people are becoming active right now. Be the person who does.

Those BLM protests were the exact thing that got so many people to turn against the idea of progressivism and toward Trump: ā€œSee? Those people are crazy and violent. We need Trump to restore law and orderā€. We need a sneakier, 2025 response to this situation.
