accusation in a mirror is a propaganda strategy made famous by none other than the nazis. Be sure to click the description tab in the wiki to see the basic explanation and nazi connection. The right has used this method dramatically since maga and Trump has come around. Packing the court, illegals, conflating patriotism and religion with nationalism, George soros, election interference, etc. pretty much all their major talking points have been some form of double standard hyper bullshit.

During the 2024 election, whenever JV Pence was asked about Jan 6th, or if Trump actually won in 2020, he deflected to "Twitter censored posts about Hunter Biden". As if Trump whipping up an angry mob with lies and pointing them at the Capitol with violent intent was equivalent to the Biden campaign (Trump was President at the time - it wasn't even government censorship) asking twitter to take down dick pics of the candidate's son.

There was a day during the 2024 election where headlines about JD Vance's deflection about twitter censorship and headlines about Elon Musk taking down posts critical of Trump were right next to each other.
