COMMUNITY It will happen when you least expect it.

So we often hear people in this community say to not delete your old videos because you never know if/when it'll blow up.

Well I just experienced that myself with one of my videos, it's almost a year old and it had 130 veiws and then within the past 24 hours it shot up to almost 650.

A pleasant surprise especially since I only have 20 subscribers, so hopefully this will encourage some of you to keep put out quality content.

Because you never know when it'll be your turn.

COMMUNITY Does anyone here actually enjoy creating videos or just cares about views?

Sorry for the provocative title, it's just that I joined this subreddit just a few weeks ago and the majority of the posts are either gurus or people complaining about a 1% decrease in views or profit..

Listen, I won't be the last one to admit that it sucks when you put your soul into a video and absolutely no one watches it, but there's gotta be more to it because it seems many people here aren't happy because of lack of viral success.

I've been making videos since 2016 on and off, pretty niche, but I've been getting sub-100 views and sometimes no likes basically permanently, and yet I never stopped because I enjoy the process, I had a video recently explode and become the most successful ever, and it felt really good but I have zero expectations for the next video, even if I've gained the most subscribers than in many years, I don't expect any of them to come back and watch my next video.

This post is a semi-rant semi-advisory, I want you to work on your videos for YOURSELF, I want you and your friends to watch your video and enjoy it, have a laugh, learn something new etc, internet points are cool for validation I'm not gonna disagree but you should also remember and the algorithm isn't fair and you shouldn't doubt yourself and start dooming over views counts, good luck!

COMMUNITY In a very volatile platform, how do you guys keep going?

Hey! I've been doing youtube for almost 2 months now and it sure is tough! There are times when my videos don't do well or I don't have any good video ideas at all. Sometimes it's demotivating and I feel impatient to progress considering that I might get busier with studies in a few months.

Just like others, my goal is to really get monetized. Although I'm not just in it for the money but for the sense of achievement too you know? Like to prove something to myself.

With this in mind and how discouraging making content here sometimes is, how do you guys keep going? What do you do whenever you feel these negative emitions? I'd like to hear your thoughts. Cheers!

COMMUNITY YT is a funny little thing

Fully aware that there are many factors (title, thumbnail, actual content) But the whole ‘luck’ part is so real

I finally got around to post a new video (you can find it in my bio, but this isn’t to promote), and it’s not like i do numbers on yt but i do pull an average 500 views the first day. And now i can’t even go over 100?

Can’t say it’s not discouraging :/ but also wonder why it’s doing so poorly, as it’s very much my normal content and based on the comments and feedback ppl so enjoy it.

All this to say I miss the old days when ppl didn’t clickbait their thumbnails and recommendations were actually good.

CONTENT QUESTION Copy cat or not? Wheres the line?

I run a gaming channel where I mainly review and talk about one or two games. Over the past week, I’ve been working on making things more efficient by creating 20–30 second video templates. These are simple clips showing the champ screen — nothing super creative, just a clean and consistent look I can reuse whenever a character gets updated. It’s meant to help me put out content faster.

But… here's the thing.

The game just had some major changes, and a big YouTuber dropped a video recently. I noticed that the templates I’ve been making look very similar to his. I haven’t released mine yet, and again — it’s just a champ screen, so there’s not much room for originality. Still, it feels off now.

I’ve been sitting on this for two days because I feel weird about using them. Part of me wants to delete them and start from scratch just to avoid being seen as a copycat.

For context, I’ve had a few of my video ideas and designs stolen before, and it really sucked. I’ve got about 1K subs and my content is decent, but I’m still growing — and I just don’t want this to come across the wrong way.

So I guess I’m just looking for some honest opinions. Should I scrap the templates or keep going?

COMMUNITY YouTube is not easy Ground

Let me tell you something my friend, before creating a youtube channel don't consider earning money at the first place. Not everyone is the same on YouTube, there are people who can get 1K subs within a week and millions of Subscribers within 3Months that's fine, that's happens because their content is needed by wider audience. Keep in mind that you will blow up by your own way it can take up to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 years it's okay. More importantly believe in yourself! Sub 4Sub Is useless

CONTENT QUESTION How long does a live stream ban last?

Upvotes

Hi. I create Fortnite duo fill streams and like a couple weeks ago about 3 I was streaming as usual and since I keep my mic muted on Youtube since I’m not comfortable yet. I got asked on Fortnite for my age which is over 13 and the person I was playing with told me their age which could be heard on the stream getting my stream removed and my ability to stream. I have tried to ask TeamYoutube which told me I would have to wait. How long would it actually take because it’s been 3 weeks and no ability to stream.

CRITIQUE OTHERS Have realistic expectations

I've seen quiet a bit of people on here who talk about the amount of disappointment they experience because they didn't blow up after a month of making shit videos.

While I only have 13 subscribers I can't at all talk about advice on how you go about making a successful channel. As a viewer I can most definitely discern shitty content that is being made with the sole purpose of trying to become big on youtube. Here is my opinion

1: If you are creating a channel with the sole purpose to try and get big and go viral stop. People can smell that shit a mile away, it's the smell of desperation at the cost of poorly done content.

2: Stop chasing what is viral and stop editing in the exact style as larger creators. Do you want to be known as the guy/girl who just copies and chases trends? Or do you want to be known as the person who is unique?

3: LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS, after you post your first video you will not get 1 million views, also create content YOU enjoy. Say you make it big on youtube, make tons of money but now you hate it because you make shit content you don't like and the initial excitement of becoming a large youtuber is gone. Now you have a job you absolutely hate and will most likely stop so the whole endeavor become a waste of time.

Moral of the story, make stuff you enjoy. Don't chase trends, and be content with every view you get. It is very reasonable to make a community of say 50k. Reach for that goal, but get rid of any entitlement you have because you "put effort" into your videos. Alright, ready for the angry comments, bring them on!

TECHNICAL QUESTION How long does it typically take you to create a video?

Hey fellow creators! I know things are tough right now, and life can be challenging for small YouTubers. Regardless, I truly love what I do and believe in taking things one step at a time. It usually takes me about a day to record my voice and around four days to edit everything.

CONTENT QUESTION CTAs - Yay or Nay? Mixed feelings about them

Do you include CTAs in your videos and what kind? Do you think they're helping you convert more viewers?

I've had videos with no CTA acrue more subs than ones with CTAs, so I am wondering if they help in any way.

COMMUNITY Be happy with what you are doing

This sub is chalk full of people that are quite delusional. "My video only gets 1000 views what am I doing wrong". "Have I been shadow banned?" "My last video tanked, what did I do wrong"

Spend more time creating and less time grousing about performance.

No one here is going to help you, and the millions of 'how to succeed at youtube' videos ON youtube aren't either. If you do everything that everyone else is doing, you will always be a part of the crowd. Stand out and be original, both in your content and in your deployment schedule. Shorts + Longs, Longs only, Shorts only. Post at weird times. Post at peak times. Have intros or don't. Pay for broll or don't.

Do what you do because you believe in it, because it's fun, because you get something out of it. Get better with each video, and keep at it. What works for others won't work for you.

But in the end, for god's sake, stop stressing over your analytics. It's pathetic and it makes everyone sad, the people who read it on this sub, and chiefly yourself. Youtube is not a full time job, 98% of everyone on the platform will never make enough money off it for it to be a full time job. Don't hold yourself up to these silly (and utterly delusional) standards.

In a world where you can get anything at any time and have infinite (effectively) choice, it's the original and unique stuff that will raise above. Stop acting like AI and grasping for the lowest common 'how to succeed' denominator. Be authentic, be real and do it for yourself, not others.

(sorry, this sub feels just full of people who haven't learned the hard lessons of life yet and it has become grating...)

COMMUNITY Is something wrong with my Niche?

Upvotes

So I have a YouTube channel and it's true crime documentary channel... The growth is very slow, i remember i asked this one question on another reddit community and they told me that my niche is very common that's why I am not getting results... Idk people tell to wait and be patient and that things will get better with time if I just post consistently but will things get better that's my question? Are there anyone who is in the same niche as me and could guide me or probably share there experience?

COMMUNITY 8 long videos - no short, 400 hours watching and 200 subs. Is this good result?

Upvotes

Just want to know if the result is okay compared to someone who just started youtube from zero?

I'm still working on it, I think my ability to make a video is no longer a problem, now I'll move on to the ideas and packing step.

Thank you everyone for reading, I hope your channel will grow.

TECHNICAL QUESTION How often do I need to post?

I posted a video a week ago, and it got 3k views (for me it’s great, my best video only had 1.8k) to keep momentum I posted a short afterwards and it got 1k which is pretty good in my small world

I uploaded a video a full week after the first one and seems to barely be moving, should I have waited an extra week?

Would it better for me to delete it and reupload it later?

TECHNICAL QUESTION My views flatlined a few days after the upload

Hi everyone.

I uploaded my first video in the evening of April 1st (no, it's not a prima aprilis video). Since then, the views have been pretty consistent. However, almost 4 days later, the views flatlined. Up to that point, I got 772 views. Then, in the next 20 hours, it increased to only 780.

Impressions are similar. In the first 4 days, the video received 14,073, and then, in the next 20 hours, it reached only 14,114.

Is this normal?

CONTENT QUESTION How can i say my channel has traction?

Hey there! I’m an aspiring anime niche shorts creator. I have so many questions in within this context

I have a small channel of 28 Subscribers. Out of my 13 views, my highest views was 1.7k. The first two videos that i posted averaged 40 views. Right after i got the 1.7k views, i got excited and i posted 10 shorts within the span of a day and a half. As some might expect, it did worse than the 40average it only got 1-3 views within many hours.

Should i delete the 10videos and post 2-3 of them Everyday?

Should i keep it like that and just post 2-3 more daily until i get high views again?

And can you give me some pointers on what i can do to gain more attention/algorithm to my videos? I already implemented the viral songs, thumbnails, and even shortened my videos to fit this generations attention span.

I’m really at a loss here and i hope you guys can help me out and give me some pointers. Thank you!

COMMUNITY I DESPERATELY need help figuring things out

Hello peoples!

I want to start making videos but I need to figure this all out first, and that's where I need everyone's advice.

I need a catchy name but I'm not entirely sure how to come up with one and Idk if I can do better than my gamertag "ItssLotuss"

Idk how to get the content I want to do, I want to make funny moments videos but I don't have any friends I can make videos with and nobody is ever in gamechat when I try to be funny.

What software is the best for recording? I have obs installed but I'm not sure how to manage it with all the settings and hotkeys.

how do I come up with a logo?

how do I make thumbnails without paying for photoshop (I'm a broke highschool student)

AND how do I edit videos with ZERO experience????

Please someone help me

Edit : Is streaming on Twitch good for building an audience on YouTube

Edit 2 : Would social media like bluesky also be good for building an audience and making youtube friends?

CONTENT QUESTION Why am i not getting any impressions?

I created an account a month ago and my first video on that account got 100 views and i got 5 subs. Now, I started uploading on a different account that already had a channel for some time (but no videos). I uploaded a video a few days ago and it hot 0 impressions and 0 views. Do I just continue uploading 1 time every 5 days for a month or should i just make a new account and a new channel?
