Though they erred in not having the International committee select it for foreign language film in 2002, they made up for it the next year when it hit US theaters by nominating it for Director, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, and Editing.

I'd really love to get a Ghibli film on the list, I think in terms of international films they've got truly some of the best.

Flee 2021 This movie was the best thing I watched that year. So good, so unique. It should have won best international feature or best animated feature.
