Unfortunate fact is that Trump is directly responsible for the inflation we saw back in 2020. It took Biden a good 3-4 years to curb that inflationary spike in the face of Republican opposition.

Some of the inflationary pressures came from covid relief-spending, which Biden had a part in. There were many contributing factors, and it was a worldwide phenomenon. Also, the Federal Reserve is the body that fights inflation, with higher interest rates and other tools. It's purposely designed to NOT be subordinate to the president, because all presidents would want low interest rates before the election, to boost their chances. So it's set up to be insulated from political influence. The Fed raised rates, which irritated a lot of people, and may have contributed to Biden losing.

And Biden was too old and gentle. He should not have run for reelection. Staying in so long made a real primary impossible, and so unfortunately I think Biden bungled the whole thing. He also gave the nomination to Harris, who had lost the primary in 20, badly, so that was very unwise. It's a tragedy. I hope it's not a fatal one.

You’re last paragraph in particular is spot on. Biden erred, should have stuck to his 2020 pledge to do one term.

5

u/Cyndakill88 4d ago

Never actually said “one term” he said he would be a transitional president. Which could be “one term” or it could mean he hires more young cabinet members. It was an open ended double speak debate answer. So it never should have been taken as a signed contract. The one term false memory is proof at how little people actually pay attention

I took "transitional" to mean he was filling the gap until Trump was not going to run.

2

u/cascadianindy66 4d ago

Whatever. I pay close attention. Biden said what he said, and I took him to mean he recognized his age and the state of political play. Perhaps I WANTED to believe he meant he’d be a one termer. It’s partly why I voted for him in ‘20. Bottom line, Biden screwed the pooch.

Sure but the headline is Trump printed 1/3 of the circulating money supply during his term. Biden economic spending was far less and strategically targeted, and during his term the money supply trend had reversed.

This isn't a 'both sides are the same" thing unless the intent is to deceive.

u/CumBubbleFarts 4d ago

Did the person say both sides are the same?

Not every criticism of the democrats is an endorsement of the republicans. This attitude is exactly what gets us into these situations where regular people won’t speak up because insane partisans will immediately ostracize anyone who might possibly be thinking about maybe starting to potentially have a criticism of their own party or candidate.

Do you want a demagogue? Do you want a party solely populated by yes men? Do you want to ignore facts? Do you want to ignore actual solutions?

Actually listen to what people are saying instead of immediately assuming it’s a personal attack against you.

I'm not really certain how much either president played into the inflation. IMO, Inflationary pressures came primarily from global supply chain constraints. Government spending played a role in it for certain. But Trumps deficit was larger than Bidens. So, I never understood how conservatives bought hook line and sinker, it was solely spending under Bidens term was the cause.

So, I never understood how conservatives bought hook line and sinker, it was solely spending under Bidens term was the cause.

Its not that hard to grasp, Fox told them it was Biden. Thats literally all they need to know.

u/Dcajunpimp Greg Abbott is a little piss baby 4d ago

To be fair, if FOX wouldn't have told them what they wanted to hear they would have found a propaganda outlet that would.

24

u/ty_xy 4d ago

Where's there NOT to understand? The conservative mind is a simple one. Dems bad, republicans good. Anything bad happens? Dems fault. Anything good? Credit to republicans. Republicans fucked up? Dems fault. Economy shit? Dems fault. Republicans have successfully indoctrinated their cult so well that NOTHING will shake their belief. Trump could take a shit on stage and everyone will be cheering and trying to take lick saying it takes a real mango to do that.

3

u/kauthonk 4d ago

It was the 8 trillion dollars they printed. Everything else is minor

1

u/DoggedStooge 3d ago

Eh, I’m more inclined to blame the Fed than the executive branch for the inflation we saw. The fed printed a fuck ton of money, reduced interest rates to zero, and reduced mandatory bank reserves to zero. They basically turned everything onto full blast to get money circulating. The Trump admin response certainly didn’t help, but the Fed is who panicked and fucked up.

2

u/skawn 3d ago

Trump negotiated for reduced worldwide oil production in order to drive up costs. This agreement wasn't set to end until two years into Biden's term.

Although there may be other factors, it feels like this is one of the key factors.

u/conn_r2112 3d ago

I mean, I would argue it was a covid thing… every country saw great inflation

The comedy of when they try to "no u!" us on this one.

1

u/HeartFullONeutrality 3d ago

They don't even try. In fact, they see us now worshipping Dem politicians unquestionably as proof that Dem politicians are bad, not that they are personally wrong about their mindset. The mysteries of the authoritarian mind.

NEWS FLASH! - "Dictator Wannabe Destroys The America Economy But 'Patriotic', 'American', MAGA Republicans Are Fine With That!"

Living in the United States in the last ten years has explained everything that I wondered about my Nazi grandparents. They were literally as immoral and ignorant as I suspected as a child. But, Americans have no excuse!

Trump's tariff policy can only be explained by a psychiatrist - an economist sure couldn't do it.

For some, there is no possible version of the country that could ever be great without him as its ruler, and there is no possible version of the country that could ever be bad as long as he's its ruler.

It doesn't matter to them how good things are if he does not reign.
It doesn't matter to them how bad things are if he reigns.
It's him or nothing.

"Better to reign in hell than serve in heaven."
They would rather burn the whole world down to crown him ruler over the ashes than allow anyone to live in a world where he does not reign.

That's not patriotism.
It's chump derangement syndrome.

Pathetic sheep. What values would the right have if not for hypocrisy?

3

u/coolchris366 4d ago

I would say put it in terms they can understand but that’s impossible

3

u/itsekalavya 4d ago

MAGA - the pain is worth it as long as the libs are not winning.

5

u/Steinrikur 4d ago

When the libs are winning, everybody wins.

When MAGA is winning, everybody loses.

3

u/marsisblack 4d ago

There was a political.commentator that was saying Americans shouldn't be upset about higher prices under trump. He stated that trump never campaigned under lower prices. Ah, what? Didn't he specifically state egg and gas prices coming down?

3

u/grimspectre 4d ago

can't argue with magats man......... admittedly i don't live in the US, but where i'm from, i get my fair share of trump ball garglers. mofos tell me "trump is good for the markets! i support him because he just says it like it is!", then i say, what about all the societal issues hes causing, what about him denigrating women, all of a sudden they're like, "his policies dont even affect you!". there's always that catch 22 with these fuckers when it comes to the difficult questions. this is why i dont talk international politics with magats, the goal posts just keep moving.

2

u/DontCh4ngeNAmme 4d ago

MAGA will do anything to make Trump look good and will do anything to support the guy. That’s what cults do.

It's a tribe, not a political party. In 1940, the German kids got right on the trains to go invade Russia - in the winter, They all knew about Napoleon doing it in 1812, and he had lost 98% of his troops. They couldn't refuse, but did they want to? No, most did not. They had no mental agency to resist at all. We are getting to that place. We will be very lucky to get past this without big bloodshed, one way or another.

2

u/daft-punk-heja 4d ago

They didnt invade in winter and they invaded a year later, France was in 1940

2

u/Bunch_of_Shit 4d ago

Trump should name the increased costs as the “Patriot Price”. Every good patriot should pay more help make America great again. I don’t see how this wouldn’t work with the cultists, the people who would literally die for trump.

2

u/MonsieurLeDrole 4d ago

It's a cult. America is a post-reality nation. Too many people are in way too deep to ever admit they're wrong.

2

u/Rocketboy1313 4d ago

They never cared about prices.

Stop taking them at their word.

They are just bigoted peices of shit. They like his Nazi shit and that is it.

They say eggs and whatever to waste your time, because you keep trying to win their racist ass over with evidence and logic.

2

u/SpaceShrimp 4d ago

They aren't allowed to have a different opinion. So they happily accept the opinion that is granted to them.

Hello! Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately it has been removed because you don't meet our karma threshold.

You are not being removed for political orientation. If we were, why the fuck would we tell you your comment was being removed instead of just shadow removing it? We never have, and never will, remove things down politicial or ideological lines. Unless your ideology is nihilism, then fuck you.

Let me be clear: The reason that this rule exists is to avoid unscrupulous internet denizens from trying to sell dong pills to our users. /r/PoliticalHumor mods reserve the RIGHT to hoard all of the dong pills to ourselves, and we refuse to share them with the community. I had this conversation with my father. "You don't judge an action by whether it's good or bad, you judge the action based on who does it." Fortunately, we mostly just watch old Gunsmoke episodes. lol

It's temporary, liberal! We'll be stronger than ever in 8 years after a democrat finishes their term.
