NSFW Pottery My husband told me I spelled unity wrong
I made this for my favorite coach at the gym I go to. She’s real sassy and got it right away. It really cracked me up that my husband thought I made a pride mug and misspelled unity though. This was my first time using mayco stroke and coat. I couldn’t find many threads on the results of this brand so I thought I’d share my mine. I freehand painted it on bisque and fired cone 6 oxidation. Not knowing what to expect, I didn’t Want to put a ton of time into this painting and kinda half assed my application. I did 2-3 coats and you can tell by the opacity and patchy areas. No clear glaze on top which was nice because I’ve had issues with other underglazes running on bisque even with zinc free clears. I hope that helps anyone looking to use the stroke and coat. Gotta love the name…

DinnerWare Two years in, a plate/bowl set I’m really proud of
Simple but I’m happy with how they turned out. Plates are flat, bowl is light, so that’s a win for me. Cone 6 brown stoneware, cobalt brushed on. Got a second set there in the background but have to take a second crack at glazing as the brush strokes were crap on my first try.

Hand building Related Handbuilt Ceramic Matchboxes
Handbuilt matchboxes from slabs as an experiment, as I haven’t seen this done much. Excited they turned out so well. I love being able to think of something, design it, and then see it come to life with my own hands.

Also these are going for their first firing and then will be glazed fired! 🥰

Vases A vase with a school of fish.
Korean sanggam technique. There were two rounds of inlay, the first was with white for the bodies of the fish, then black for the details

Mugs & Cups I never update 😂 so here’s an update !
Shaggy ink cap incense burner did fall during the glaze fire . In hindsight I shouldn’t have tried to Fuse it with so much glaze . It was a little off kilter ( the application of glaze ) and when the glaze melted it went a little off balance and fell. Taking out most of my mugs which I sucessfully sanded and clean up . The wire was mangled and the thin parts of the drips have been replaced with E6000 which is probably better in the long run Because at some point those glass drips were Going to break! It’s nice to push boundaries and make some impossible things, but I need to accept when the universe steps in to give me a reality check.
“I hear you!!!!” 😂
The couldron mugs are not the colors I had expected but I think I love them the most of anything this go. Even tried some of Maycos pearl luster on one and that one is my favorite!
Sorry it took so long for an update but I’m realizing if I sit with the pieces for a few days I give them the love the deserve rather then sulking in the coulda woulda shouldas🖤🖤🖤

Mugs & Cups The best thing I made in my first semester of beginner throwing!
This was originally just going to be a cup for my mom but my roommate and I got a candle making kit and it seemed like the perfect size for a candle! My mom loves it :) I’m returning for my second semester of beginner throwing later this month and I’m so excited. These glazes are named Lucy and Opal at my studio.
