Sunday post Help identifying possible John Herbert piece

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m trying to identify the designer and approximate value. It has a very clean mid-century modern design with rounded legs, warm wood (possibly cherry or teak), and solid craftsmanship. There are no visible markings or labels underneath.

It reminds me of work by John Herbert for A. Younger Ltd, especially pieces from the 1950s–60s, but I’m not 100% sure. The simplicity and proportions are very similar to the Fonseca line, though this one might be from another series.

Does anyone recognize this piece? Any help with identification and approximate market value would be greatly appreciated!

Sunday post Wooden & glass display cabinet/writing desk, handmade by my great grandfather in the 40s(?), with fox & grape detail panels

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

Hi all! My grandma is moving & will no longer have space for this beautiful piece (I'm in love with it, but don't have the room either). We know it was made by her father - a master cabinet maker - in the 40s or 50s, UK.

Features include: hinged writing desk with drawer & secret compartment behind, retractable top, glass panels either side, cupboard with beautiful panelling (two foxes, grapes & birds).

Would like to know if it's worth us having it valued/trying to sell if no-one in the family is able to take it. Thank you in advance!

This banjo has no visible mark, no engraving that could indicate the model. I think it is quite old and probably local but I have no further details.

Hi everyone! We found this interesting piece at a garage sale for $5 (Ontario Canada) a few years ago. I absolutely love it. It’s signed Borge Jorgensen 1990. It’s quite tall (about 2 1/2 feet). We found him on a Google search once but have always wondered if our $5 find was worth way more! 😁

Sunday post 🔍 Help Identifying These Mysterious Ancient-Looking Metal Pieces – Roman or Just Replicas?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I recently came across these fascinating metal pieces (see attached images), and I’d really appreciate your help identifying them. They look old — possibly Roman or inspired by ancient civilizations — but I’m not entirely sure if they’re authentic or replicas.

Some details I’ve noticed:

  • The metal seems oxidized with a green patina (maybe bronze or copper?)
  • One piece has what appears to be a turtle engraving, the other has a face that looks mythological or symbolic
  • One of them is marked with the word “РОМА” – not sure if that’s Latin or Cyrillic?

They were found in a private collection, and we’re curious about:

  • What era or culture they might belong to?
  • Are they collectible items or just decorative replicas?
  • Any ballpark idea of value, if any?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light — any tips or insights are greatly appreciated!

I'd like to get more information about these spoons.

What the symbols on the back mean?

Were they made in 1910 or 1935?

What is the approximate value of each?

Hershell Spillman Faces

These belonged to my Mom who passed away. Do they have any value and are there collectors who have interest in these carousel masks? I understand they were painted but can be restored to original look.

UNSOLVED Norman Rockwell signed letter with signed card

I picked this up in Williamsburg, Virginia the other day and I believe it to be authentic. It is well framed and matted and includes the envelope, a letter, and a signed card both showing Norman Rockwell. Curious what you might think it is worth and how would I go about selling it if you have any ideas I’d be so appreciative.

Purchased along with several similar typed letters in a box of papers from a retired Dallas police officer.

Subject matter seemed interesting, but am wondering if this has any value at all, especially to anyone interested in the JFK assassination.

Likely Solved Antique Books?

Thumbnail gallery

I’ve been holding onto these beautiful books I found about a year ago. I’ve been too scared to read them because they’re so delicate and I don’t want to ruin anything rare. I’m not actually sure if they are rare as I haven’t been able to find the exact copies of them anywhere on the internet so I thought I’d ask here. The books are “A Hundred Short Stories”(1858) “The Poetical Works of John Keats”(1901) And “Vicar of Wakefield”(unknown). I’ll add a few images of them below. I’d love to know anything I can about them- thanks!

Inherited this cap from wealthy european lady. Would guess she bought it sometime in the 60s-70s? Could not find much info on similar objects online.

I found this when cleaning out an office. It appears to be a Gucci Waste Paper bin but I can't find anything similar from reverse image search. From the logo it looks as though it is from the 1960's. Any info would be great ! Thank you.

Hey my girlfriend father worked at IBM back in the 80s and made all these DOOM wads copies that I found along with a few other game collection. I'm just wondering anyone has any idea if there's still interest in these or have value?
