some far right hate jews so much that they are against israel but in general the far right parties all over the western world overwhelmingly support it. They always jump at the opportunity to make a settler colonialist state and genocide the locals, they love that shit. Especially if religion plays a major role.
it's not sudden. The right wing has always been zionist and always supported israel. A core principle of zionism is that jews need their own place to live, far from europe, because they will never integrate with what they see as "normal people". It's an antisemitic ideology at its core.
Israel is also not a pillar of anything progressive. It's only marginally better than the neighboring countries. Gay marriage is still illegal, people have to go to other countries to get married. Netanyahu is from the conservative party and the largest opposition to him in the parliament is from a party even more to the right. Israel uses and blackmails palestinian lgbt people to further their colonization project goals and continue massacring palestinian people, lgbt or not. Looks like you're the one who has been fed all the imperialist propaganda, and as an lgbt person I find it disgusting that we are being used to justify a genocide, especially one as blatantly obvious as this one. You should be too.
