Hands Off! Protest in Boston today.
Great meeting some of you at City Hall Plaza today! There were also at least four more New England flags in the crowd who didn't make it to our subway vent platform. MASSIVE turnout overall, lots of flyers were handed out, spirits and solidarity were turned up to 11 despite the drizzle.

It would be crazy if we end up doing this Kind of like a reverse Civil War (hopefully w/o the war)

Trump is going to end up being the best thing to ever happen to the cause of New England independence. Not only has the openness of the average New Englander increased dramatically in the last five months, but the country will be seriously weakened and the government will be working overtime to do damage control once he finally leaves office. If we vote to secede in the wake of it, they'll feel immense international pressure to let us go, rather than using military aggression to keep us against our will. Just imagine the optics of his successor beginning a de facto military occupation of New England, basically signalling to the world that though Trump is gone, this is still the same country that was threatening to take over Greenland, Canada, Panama, Gaza, etc.

I like this take. A rationally optimistic good point.

It won't just be us either. Other states will leave with us. That's how the USSR was destroyed and thats most likely the fate of the USA.

You hit on some really good points. But are you sure the orange menace will ever leave office? Vertically anyways? Only horizontally in my mind. But that works for us either way.
To your point though, even without Trump, Pandora's box is open and there isn't any going back. The flaws in the American system, held in check for so long by people of good conscience, will continue to be exploited. Probably even worse than today and that amplifies our reasoning for separation.
I still don't think there would ever be any armed conflict if we, the West Coast, etc., packed up and left. The American mindset is very different than it was in the mid 19th century. Some regions would be happy to see us go and I don't think any of them would willingly risk their lives to keep us. Would some guy in South Carolina actually risk getting killed just to keep Boston or San Francisco in the union? Probably not.

The rest of the country talks about Texas or Alaska with awe. Part of the reason is everyone there has guns.
Imagine how’d the union approach us if the birthplace of American revolution owned guns like the forefathers.

We also handed out 400 Secede flyers! Got lots of good reactions from people.
