Book Request Mcā€˜s have different tastes in sex

As mentioned I want the fmc and mmc to have different tastes in sex. I want them to figure that out the first time theyā€™re about to get into bed together. It shouldnā€™t be about a specific kink, since you can easily concentrate on something else, but more the style itself.

Example: Perhaps the fmc likes it rough and the mmc doesnā€˜t, which may lead to one of them not coming.

Iā€˜d like for them to be almost incompatible in bed, but sometime in the book to figure it out and make it work.

Iā€˜ve never read a book into that direction and I certainly donā€™t know if that even exists. In other books the mcā€˜s always seem to be on the same wavelength when it comes to what they want, which often doesnā€™t happen in real life. Mostly people have to get to know each other first and adapt to make it good for both. So Iā€˜m curious if anyone has ever stumbled across a book like that.

Banter/Fun The Read Your Color Assessment

This guys on tiktok (stevenjreese) made a test that categorizes readers not by genre but by six colors, and I thought some people on this community might enjoy it. Each type even has recommendations https://www.readyourcolor.com/ Iā€™m mostly a yellow reader (the emotional catalyst) and I couldnā€™t agree more! Iā€™m ALWAYS on the search for books filled with angst šŸ«¢

Discussion MMC you ended up NOT falling for?

Hello! I recently read the book {The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker} and I could not fall in love with the MMC Jonah. He was kind of a misogynist and kept wanting to change the FMC. I love asshole MMCs and hate-to-love stories, but it was so hard to find good qualities in him. I almost stopped reading, but I kept going because I did enjoy some of the other subplots.

Has this ever happened to you? What gave you the ick? Did it stop you from finishing the book?

Book Request FMCs that are secretly hopeless romantics but have had bad past relationships

this totally has nothing to do with me personallyšŸ™

i want an FMC that really just wants love and deep connection that goes beyond sex but her past relationships have just been men only lusting after her so she was stuck in a cycle of giving in to whatever they asked and feeling used because she wanted to believe that they loved her

not saying i donā€™t want smut just that thereā€™s deeper connection and intimacy between the MMC and FMC and she realizes that men are not completely lost causes

this request is also kinda inspired by cassie howard from euphoria

thank u lovely people this is my fav sub ever

Book Request Any HR books with non-virgin/widow FMC?

Hi all, I've been stuck in one category of books for a while, and am very mych in the mood for a good HR book. Virgin FMCs aren't my thing though so I would love some recommendations for non-virgin FMCs.

  • Preferably she's 25-40 yo
  • Didn't just have sex once and was ruined, nor was tricked into it by some asshole when she was like 15 yo preferably. Would be nice if she's experienced, relaxed around and enjoys sex. (unlikely I know)
  • I would strongly prefer a MMC who isn't "a rake" - isn't a 35+ yo man who is an asshole and still does nothing with his life but sleep around. In fact, it's a strong bonus point if he's less sexually experienced and/or younger than her.

I know how few books will meet these things so I'll stop there! Appreciate any recommendationsšŸ™

Books I can remember that meet some of this:

{His forsaken bride by Alice Coldbreath} is of course one of my faves among HR in general!

{Kisses to steal by Tilly Wallace} also meets several of these points and I liked a lot about it! I also found it refreshing that she is a courtesan (not a major spoiler it's in the books description). I kind of lost interest in the last part of the book, which I personally am prone to lol, but definetely an honorable mention still.

Book Request MMC plans to marry off/set up the FMC with someone else but eventually starts wanting her for himself

Any type of recs are fine, but I do need the smut to be a bit on the higher scale or at least for there to be lots of flirting and tension/build-up between them.

I love it when the MMC is like a guardian of the FMC or something and is like, I'm going to get rid of her by just marrying her off so she is no longer my responsability. Or maybe the MMC is like an heir or a mafia prince and either him or one of his brothers have to enter an arranged marriage for *reasons* and he is like ''I don't want her, one of you will have to do it''. Or maybe they are friends and he tries to play wingman and set her up with one of his guy friends. The possibilities are endless. Point is, eventually he starts regretting his choices and starts wanting her for himself and things start getting messy.

Book Request Romance books where FMC ended up being the replacement/accidental girlfriend/bride for MMC

Rereading { A Substitute Wife for the Prizefighter by Alice Coldbreath } and { An Ill-Made Match by Alice Coldbreath } which are replacement bride and accidental bride respectively which unironically both [minor spoiler] FMC on both books basically ended up stealing their cousin's bridegroom

Anyways I cant keep rereading either books. I would want to read something else similar where the FMC is definitely not the intended by both FMC and MMC as a partner but she ended as the partner anyways due to circumstances or taking responsibility or whatever

Preferences:

  1. HR, Fantasy or contemporary
  2. No cheating
  3. No mafia, alien, fae and werewolf/vampire/mate stuff (i dont enjoy them)

Any recommendations ? Thank you !

Book Request toof rotting sickening sweet fluff and innocence

I want to preface by saying absolutely NO NSFW PLEASE

I need the most cutesy, innocent romance kinda want like, parental vibes? like healing daddy/mommy issues, caregiver vibe age regression but with NO DDLG please, pure and healthy coping mechanism

like I need healing maybe some hurt/comfort, something where the heroine has past trauma or some sort of mental health/personality disorders, any sort of hard trauma, assault, abuse

genuinely I need so even mention of kink stuff or sexual things in it because I'm lowkey projecting and also honestly if they do talk abt how why she doesn't feel comfortable with sexual things that's fine but pls no shit where he takes that as a green light

tldr:

big no nos: nsfw, age kink, ddlg, animal death/abuse, more than a few kisses

big yeses: height differences, fluff, hurt/comfort, cuddles, shy fmc

Book Request Doctor MMC and (preferably) non-medical FMC

I recently stumbled upon a video of a popular MD YouTuber who spoke with such eloquence and knowledge that I think I have a crush now šŸ˜…

Does anyone have good recommendations for books where the FMC is not necessarily in the medical field (but it's not a dealbreaker)? If you know any, books with a successful FMC would be appreciated (there's enough struggles in life, I don't want to read about them), a small age gap is appreciated, enemies to lovers as well.
I've read The Worst Guy and The Hotshot Doc before (I liked The Worst Guy and DNF'd The Hotshot Doc).

Book Request Where they used to date in high school and years later they meet as adults

Okay I am looking for something specific

They used to date in high school but something happens like they both go to different colleges or they just grow estrange and after many years they meet again.

It can be a series where in book one is about high school and the other is when they are grown up.

I donā€™t mind anything else but preferably if its dark romance where MMC forces her or something.

Guys I just read {limerence by H.C Dolores} And need something to remove the itch till the next book releases.

Thank you

I've watched the anime of heaven offical's blessing before and ages ago I watch the dorian gray's movie. god of fury is a gamble for me, but I saw it pop up frequently enough that I wanted to try and read it (despite me usually not caring for mafia).

Book Request Action/thriller/suspense romance with the male version of a damsel in distress?

So Iā€™ve been rereading some old faves where the FMC is in law enforcement with a civilian love interest (The Search, High Noon and Blue Smoke by Nora Roberts). In all of them, the FMC has someone out to get her, the MMC might be in trouble because of her, so she worries and gets protective. But ultimately, heā€™s a strong man who stays by her side and...nothing happens to him. Iā€™d still love to see a nice, relatively strong MMC, but at the end of the day, he's a civilian and can be hurt. I've been dying for some endings where the villain uses the MMC against her and our FMC has to go full Kim Possible to save her Ron Stoppable. Any suggestions?

Hereā€™s some threads I looked at before, but couldnā€™t find much that scratched the itch.

Girl rescues guy romance

Powerful/Strong FMC saves equally Powerful/Strong MMC

Lots of danger, FMC saves MMC

Not the biggest fan of fantasy/sci-fi or anything like harems, or "alphas" or polyamory or anything like that. Along the same style as the books I mentioned above would be great!

Book Request Is there books that follows the couple after they get together like a duet? Sports romance

What I have in mind is a sports romance where the first book is about them getting together in college and the second one is about staying together while MMC is a professional athlete and FMC has her own ambitions and all that put a strain in their relationship.

I just finished The Hook-up by Kirsten Callihan, itā€™s not a duet but it is absolutely the best sports romance Iā€™ve read. Would love something with same quality writing.

Book Request Books where the MMC appears tough/cold but for the FMC, heā€™s a loverboy

The MMC should be known for being a cold and grumpy sort of fella, like really UNPLEASANT but when it comes to the FMC or when he meets her, he is putty in her hands. I want him to embrace it too and I want other people to notice the change, like to the point where people are asking him ā€œAre you okay šŸ˜•ā€ Not necessarily ā€œinsta-loveā€ just a ā€œIā€™m only soft for my lady and everyone else can just fuck right the fuck on offā€ type of MMC. FMC could be sweet but headstrong, we love an independent lady šŸ’šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø

{Until November by Aurora Rose Reynolds) KINDA has this aspect. This was insta-love but still good in my opinion. The MMC was a well know and sought after manwhore until he meets the FMC then BOOM šŸ˜‰ I say kinda because he wasnā€™t grumpy or cold in my opinion.

Mafia romances are big on this but Iā€™m already mafia-ed out for the month. I canā€™t think of anymore at the moment. So anyways, thatā€™s what Iā€™m looking for. No cheating or RH please šŸ™‚ M/F, HR, Contemporary, Fantasy, Sci-Fiā€¦ bring it onnnn šŸ«“šŸ¾

Edit : Woohooo thank you all for the recs, keep em coming if you have some that you think will fit. Iā€™m thankful to you all ! Happy Sunday šŸ«¶šŸ¾

Book Request Age gap romance where the MMC has grey hair

Iā€™ve been rewatching Greyā€™s Anatomy and Mark Sloan and Lexie Grey are making me wanna read an age gap romance. I havenā€™t read many age gap books in general, but especially ones where the MMC had grey hair. Usually they donā€™t have grey hair yet. The ones that I remember with a grey haired older MMC are {Just a Heartbeat Away by Cara Bastone} and {Pretty Face by Lucy Parker}.

Any subgenre works except for dark romance. Even dark romance can work if the romance itself isnā€™t dark or abusive. I can deal with a bit of dubcon, but not noncon. And I prefer open door, but I want plot too, not just sex so no erotica please. Also, no aliens or any creature that doesnā€™t look human. MF only please.

I know single dad/nanny romances are very popular right now, but they are not for me in general. Thatā€™s probably why I donā€™t read much age gap romance. I am open to reading one though since I imagine most recs here will be this trope lol. I donā€™t really like reading about children since they are very rarely written well, but I can make an exception. I would prefer a non single parent romance though if possible and if forbidden, itā€™s even better!

Thank you in advance!

Book Request Angsty College Sports Romance?

ā€¢ Upvotes

I LOVE a college sports romance and have been struggling to find a good one to scratch the itch. The off campus series (THE DEAL of course being my fave) and DEEP END and even (pls donā€™t mock lol) BEAUTIFUL DISASTER are some of my faves. But others like Icebreaker I couldnā€™t get into. Iā€™m specifically looking for less focus on quantity of smut/spice and more tension, longing, jealousy, angst, etc. Thank you !!!!

Book Request What are your favorite novellas UNDER 100 pages?

I love shorter novellas under 100 pages. Theyā€™re a quick jump-starter & palate cleanser, and especially a short breather when a longer book is dragging on.

Iā€™ve searched through past threads and found a few, but often thereā€™s no indication if a novella length is just short of a novel or if itā€™s more of a quickie such as what Iā€™m looking for now.

NO: poly, paranormal/fantasy, etc, bdsm.

Love contemporaries & occasional historicals.

Thanks a bunch!

Discussion Anal Sex in Romance/Dark Romance - What do you all think?

So I have a question for all you romance lovers. Iā€™ve been reading romance novels for 30 years. Iā€™ve been getting into mafia romances lately. Mostly I love them. I love cruel alpha-holes. Angst. Violence, Abduction, Dub-con/body betrayal, light BDSM (bondage and spanking), CNC, and other dark themes. But Iā€™m on the fence about anal.

Iā€™m not against it if itā€™s consensual and the MMC wants to do it right and make sure the FMC enjoys it, but the more I dive into mafia, the more books I come across where the MMC uses anal as a form of punishment. They are always angry over some perceived betrayal.

I donā€™t want to yuck on someone elseā€™s yum, but something about non-consensual anal sex doesnā€™t jive with me.

For example, I just finished a duology where the MMC chained the FMC up, whipped her, then did it even though she asked him not to and refused to let her orgasm, although he allowed her to give herself an orgasm once he was done while he watched (gee thanks a-hole). The MMC was completely unredeemable IMHO, and not just for that. He was horrible throughout both books.

How do you all feel about anal sex? No right or wrong answers. Love it? Hate it? on the fence? No judgements here. I'm just curious.

EDIT: After reading all these insightful and comical comments that made me laugh (Thank you) I went back and looked to see if lube was used and realized I got my scenes mixed up.Ā >!The first time the MMC locked the poor doormat FMC in a pillory. He used her "vagina wetness" as lube. The chaining whiping was a different punishment scene. The 2nd time (The punishment) he made her keep her hands on the sofa while he did his thing even tho she she "please not there". He used butter that time. Gee, how thoughtful. The writing was good. but the story was disturbing. How the FMC could fall in love with someone who treated her like she was nothing but a sex toy throughout both books is beyond me.Ā !<

The book in question for those asking for a friend isĀ Devils Pawn by Natasha Knight

Discussion Ever King duology by LJ Andrews

I randomly found {Ever King by LJ Andrews} and I loved it!! Iā€™m on the sequel now {Ever Queen by LJ Andrews} and Iā€™m in process so Iā€™ll probably avoid this thread for a few days until I finish BUT I havenā€™t heard nearly any buzz on this story and Iā€™m loving it!!

After series like ACOTAR or Fourth Wing or Veiled Kingdom, I was excited to find a spicy romantasy that was actually a finished duology. I hope I like the 2nd book as much as I liked the first! And then she has other books in the same universe apparently.

If youā€™ve read it, let me know what you think; your fan casts; your favorite spicy scene; etc!!

What was that book called...? [WWTBC] He leaves her and she accidentally get pregnant with his best friend

Hi everyone! I am looking for in which I think he goes to the military and comes back but then she leaves his girlfriend because he think he is not enough. Time passes and she got pregnant with his friend I think and he comes back and they reconnect. Does anyone know which book is this ?
