Discussion Any SCP stories that detail/focus on the life of the personnel of The Foundation?

Upvotes

I love SCP, have for years now, but I'm curious to if there is stories that focus more on the average personnel in extraordinary circumstances instead of the famous MTFs, or O-5s. The broken masquerade with the Foundation having to make a PR team was pretty neat imo.

Any stories that delve into the lives of the researchers and doctors within the Foundation and how they work in bizzare circumstances?

Meta Post Looking for ancient disease SCP

Upvotes

Hey really sorry for dumb post but I have tried finding an SCP for years and have not been successful.

So i think it was a later series. All i remember is in the incident reports they talk about finding victims of the disease with their stomachs full of dirt. And they traced it back to ancient times because they found trilobite fossils with the same dirt in the digestive tracts of the trilobites.

I think it had some religious themes to it also. Idk. Please help me guys. I know it’s a long shot.

Help Good Starting SCPs?

I've never really read an SCP article and the only real experiences I have with them are the occasional YouTube video. Are there any specific articles I should start with?

SCP Universe Is there any SCPs that change the person into a doll?

I was rewatching Dr Who and watched the peg doll episode and it made me wonder if there were any SCPs that changed anyone into a doll if any type. I obviously know about 847 turning women into mannequins but are there any others?

Discussion Could a mansion-style place for gifted young people from the X-Men resist, where all the anomalous human beings could live?

It's just a very interesting idea and I would like to see a story/canon based on this idea.

A mansion very similar to the X-Men mansion, where humanoid and peaceful anomalies could live. (Obviously being watched by the Foundation).

There are many anomalies that could live in this place. SCP 2241,166, 507, 191, 105, 040, 527, 085, 187. And many others. There are a very large number of anomalies that could live in this place.

I would really like to see what this story would be like. I think it would be a good canon.

Discussion If a game/video featuring a GOC strike team would be made, would you rather have a bulky, astartes style white suit, or a sleek, tactical white suit?

White suits have never been officially visualised only ever described, and they were apparently tight as hell.

….but, the astartes power armour is cool as hell

Discussion Do the SCP foundation and the global occult coalition hate each other or not? I never understood this confusing relationship. Someone explain to me.

This is strange, but I, honestly, always thought that these two organizations had a relationship like enemies lovers

Looks like they can't make up their minds guys. One moment they want to destroy each other, another time they become friends, my God. What indecisive people.

Discussion If you could change, remove, or add one thing to the whole SCP community (including the wiki itself), what would you do?

Personally, I'd say i would remove the adminbright articles, there is no need for them to remain.

Otherwise, I'd say finally make the wikijump project

Discussion How powerful should the SCP Foundation/SCPs be?

One of the most important aspects of the SCP Universe as a concept is defining what it would look like for the government to address general horror concepts and overall anomalous items. In SCP:CB, the organization and the SCPs feel fairly grounded and plausible. The facility feels like the product of a smaller, more secretive and specialized organization which has limited resources to use and account for. The SCPs feel menacing and intriguing with their unique and varied functions and logic, yet are limited for the most part in demonstration. Other interpretations of the Foundation and SCPs, from what I have seen, involve the foundation practically being responsible for all of what happens that is significant in the world, and SCPs being as impactful as being able to end the world. Considering this, what do you guys think the perfect limit is for the level of power for foundation and SCP subjects?

Tip of My Tongue Machine that can answer all questions with "yes" or "no".

An SCP that could answer every question with "yes" or "no regardless of if the question was a yes or no question. I think it was some sort of small machine with lights that flash for yes or no. The test log had a lot of nonsensical questions that were answered.

Discussion Brothers death and the doctors

I suddenly wondered, why is it that the brothers death and the doctors are talked about very little?

Like one of the brothers made the scarlet king scared and even called him by his true name and the scarlet king didn't do anything because he knew he couldn't. Like im just wondering why is it that they're talked about quite less compared to some of the other eldritch entities entities

SCP Universe What if the GOC had their own Insurgency?

As we all know, the Chaos Insurgency, originally a black ops division of the Red Right Hand, defected from the SCP Foundation as a rejection of the Foundation's core mission. But despite their portrayal as the SCP Foundation's arch nemesis, I see the Global Occult Coalition as a much more appropriate foil. They're the main anomalous research organization in the [[Unfounded]] universe, they're always butting heads with the Foundation but will reluctantly tolerate each other for the sake of protecting humanity, and they're both backed up by actual governments as opposed to the Chaos Insurgency which might as well be a terrorist organization.

Dr. Wondertainment was originally a worker at the Factory, right? And Jude Kriyot of Gamers Against Weed was affiliated with Are We Cool Yet? It's a statistical impossibility for someone to defect from the GOC and start their own group with blackjack and hookers. In SCP-4231, which I will keep referencing 'til Big Charlie the Meat Cow comes home, D.C. al Fine's assistant Coda objects to the director's idea of reviving the Ichabod Campaign. Coda, and I imagine many other Coalition agents, do not want a repeat of the Cornwall Incident. I also imagine at least one of them objects to the idea of killing children just because they were born with magic powers. Yes, I know the Ichabod Campaign is an exception to how the Global Occult Coalition is usually portrayed, and I'm getting to that. You could also argue that Francis/Ukulele/Clef defected because of ideological differences, but judging by the 239 incident and his reality bender seminar, his attitude toward Type Greens didn't change all that much.

The way I see it, there's two ways a GOC civil war could go.

  1. A group of Gocks sympathetic to reality benders or anomalous humans in general could cause the schism. They signed up to destroy dangerous artifacts and power-mad Type Greens, not innocent children. A similar thing happens in my favorite Chaos Insurgency tale, [[Insurrection]]. Course, maybe the Global Occult Coalition was formed in the first place in opposition to the early Foundation's non-interventionist stance, which brings me to the second option.

  2. A group of anti-revisionist Gocks feel that the current GOC is too soft on anomalous humans. They defect and start their own Ichabod Campaign. The motive of the hypothetical splinter group is important, otherwise the defectors might as well just join the Foundation, Insurgency, or the Library.

So, that's my writing prompt or whatever. GOC splinter group, maybe it could exist in the Unfounded universe in lieu of the non-existent Chaos Insurgency.

Meta Post Has anyone tried to make a Foundation classification system for reality benders, similar to the GOC's Threat Entity terminology?

I once tried to do this long ago. Various SCP articles mentioned different "levels" or "classes" of reality benders, and at least three different subtypes: Intentional, Unintentional, and Latent. Ultimately, I petered out and this idea never left the brainstorming phase. Has anyone else tried this? I feel like there's enough SCP articles that reference "Level/Class X reality bending" entities to warrant a guide similar to the guide for K-Class Scenarios.

Yes, I am aware of the GOC classification for anomalous humans, that being Type Black (deities), Type Blue (thaumaturgists), Type Red (regenerators), and Type Green (reality benders), and I know that the Foundation sometimes uses this terminology as well, but I also know that the term "reality bender" has been used for SCP's that feel like they should fall under the category of Type Blue or Type Black. Also, it's not like a GOC file would use the term "XK-Class Scenario" or "Keter SCP."

Do the different "levels" of reality bending refer to how much the Hume field changes, how many aspects of reality are altered, or something else?

Discussion Why SCP-006 must be contained

Recently, I happened to revisit the SCP-006 entry.

SCP-006 was written a long time ago, and since the concept felt pretty typcial, I ended up forgetting about it over time.

But when I looked at it again, something in it sparked my imagination.

These three lines in particular caught my attention:

the ability to regenerate DNA damaged by sufficient duplication.

heightened excitement of cellular duplication.

the effectiveness of the human immune system.

I don’t have a major in biology. just a regular person with common sense—but these three things gave me some twisted creativity.

As some ppl probably know, the human body isn’t something that runs on a few RPG-like stats.

It’s a much more complicated system, maintained by countless mechanisms.

our bodies rely on constant cell division and apoptosis thousands of times a day, plus the immune system defending us from external threats.

And none of this ever works perfectly.

Many people suffer from autoimmune diseases that only a few really understand, and even more people might be carrying cancer that could end their lives by sheer misfortune.

I believe every immune system needs a proper “enemy” to function.

If it doesn’t have one, it ends up becoming more destructive the stronger it gets.

Also, when something causes “rapid cell division,” unless it comes with specific conditions, both normal and cancerous cells will be affected.

As many of us learned from the Deadpool example: that kind of regeneration could easily lead to disgusting avocado-like tissue.

Maybe the O5s who are using this are paying a medical cost that far exceeds the price of death—all for the sake of immortality.

So does any fanfic exist that explores this kind of idea?

Tip of My Tongue Cannot remember the number of an SCP for the life of me.

I apologize if this kind of post is not allowed but this has been driving me crazy. Years ago I read an SCP wiki that has stuck with me but I cannot remember the number. It was about a Bear Grylls type nature YouTuber. I remember the plot was very emotional and had a sad ending. Apart from that I don’t remember much else. Again sorry if this is against the rules or whatever.

Discussion Am I missing something or is 3125 WAY easier to deal with than they make it seem in the Antimemetics division tales?

SPOILERS for anyone that hasnt read the "There is no antimemetics division" stories yet.

So the whole idea of 3125 is that it is everywhere in our universe, and if you are aware of it, it is aware of you, and will then kill you and everyone close to you, so its impossible to fight. The way they deal with this is "inverted containment" where there is a special chamber that has been purged of 3125, and so that is the only place its safe to know what 3125 is, and to plan how to stop it. And because knowing about it outside that chamber is fatal, they flood the airlock with amnestics on your way out, and theres also a rule that NO coherent information of any kind can be allowed to leave that room. Once every 6 weeks, someone goes in, learns all this, stays inside for a few hours trying to think of a way to stop it, then leaves, and forgets everything about it on the way out.

But like... Thats not actually necessary? Theres no reason why NO information can be allowed to leave. The only information thats dangerous is the knowledge of what 3125 IS. But you dont actually need to know what it is in order to fight it.

Like, you could write yourself a note that says "Build way more chambers like this that are shielded in the same way, and use them as safehouses. Dont look into why or what youre protecting from." Youd get out of the chamber, read that note, not know WHY you wrote it, but know you mustve had a reason... and so youd do it. And then boom. You have WAY more spaces that are purged of 3125 and safe from it.

Hell, you could write a note saying to build that kind of shielding around the ENTIRETY of site 41, and then you would no longer be restricted to only knowing what youre fighting while inside that one chamber.

Or you could write a note saying "Theres a huge area in the basement thats shielded like this. Go in there and get to to work. Do not think about why or whats in there until you are already inside." Again, no information about 3125 itself, so you wouldnt be attacked.

Or heck, just write a note saying "build a machine to destroy ideas." Again, no info about 3125 itself.

It just feels like there are a LOT of ways around the central obstacle in this saga, but theyre just ignored. Is there more to it that Im missing? or is it just a case of "They dont think of that cause if they did then the story wouldnt happen."
