Local creation Please help! Bike/only transportation to work stolen. Downtown
If anyone recognizes this guy or sees him near downtown San Jose it would help me out so much. 4:45 this morning he stole my electric bike from my parking garage valued at about $1500. Here’s a few screenshots of him wearing a Raiders hoodie and Nike shoes and I’m going to file a police report as soon as I get off work and walk through the park by the creek across from the target at San Jose market center. Again, I would appreciate it so much and no worries if you haven’t seen him I appreciate it. Have a great day.

News Resistance over the 101fwy at Ralston bike/ped overpass
A group of us got together and put these up today. Lots of people honked in solidarity. Only one guy on a bike came across the bridge and shouted “Go Doge!” and then attempted to tear down one of the signs.

Advice Fake DMV Permit Slips Taking Over Street Parking in My Neighborhood
Hey everyone,
About 5 months ago, some cars started appearing in my neighborhood without front or rear plates. Initially, it didn’t seem like a big deal, but now we’re seeing over 11 different vehicles—SUVs, sedans, station wagons, etc.—just sitting here, taking up our already limited street parking.
What’s especially strange is that they all have these sketchy-looking "DMV Permit" slips taped to their windows. The cars don’t move for over a week at a time, and when they do, it’s sometimes just the day before street sweeping. Other times, they leave their cars but don't seem to be ticketed at all.
I got curious one day and checked the DMV’s website to verify the permits, as it all seemed odd. From what I found, they appear to be fake based on several factors. Additionally, the stamp on them is from a business that no longer exists, which only adds to how shady this whole situation is.
I’ve reported it to 311 and parking enforcement multiple times and even spoke with a parking officer in person. Unfortunately, they said there’s not much they can do. I also reached out via email and received this response:
My neighbors and I are starting to believe someone might be establishing an illegal car lot here, especially since there's a clear lack of enforcement in our area. We even contacted our district leader, but they’re swamped, and so far, nothing’s changed.
Has anyone else dealt with something like this? I’m honestly not sure what else to do at this point.

News Yogurtland @ Brokaw freeloader
Today (4/5/2025) at approximately 8:30pm, I witnessed a female trying to help herself to frozen yogurt at the self serve station. She was acting casual and suspicious holding a large yogurt bowl and constantly looking back and forth at the cashier and will dispense yogurt and eat and later walk out and got away in a BMW 5 series car.
You can afford a BMW but won’t pay yogurt. Shame on you! No wonder why small businesses are suffering.

Event Native Garden Tour!
Check this out next weekend. Seems like a really cool way to learn about landscaping and native plants in the area, and the event is free. Im surprised by how few followers their page has considering how neat the event sounds.

Advice SJ Date Ideas On a Budget?
Looking for some new date ideas for my wife and I of 13 years that we could reasonably do in a few hours that aren't just your typical fancy restaurant or seeing a show.
She doesn't like wine, sports, shopping malls, large crowds of people, or museums. She's more of a book and anime introvert that likes theater and going for walks in nature as well as what we typically do, which is try new food places, usually sandwiches or tacos.
We haven't ever been to a couples spa and I'm on the fence about how they would go, but it's a possibility. I'm not really sure where a good place to go for that would be.
I've had zip lining on the potential list for years, but realistically I'm pretty sure she would hate that lol.
We do a lot of hiking together and now we mostly just take the kids when we go, but that's generally more of a workout thing rather than something that feels like a date now.
We're also not exactly wealthy (combined income sub six figures) and a lot of the stuff around here is exhorbitantly expensive. She's also very budget conscience, so she doesn't love it if I spend a ton of money on her at once, especially if the payout isn't great, so I'm trying to be careful what I pick. She also doesn't like going to super fancy restaurants since they make her feel uncomfortable and out of place.
Maybe this is WAY too much info lol, but any ideas would be appreciated.

Life in SJ I’d prefer THESE Canadians would boycott us instead. Alas, they’re back.
My first sighting of these rude tourists this year while passing through Tamien station. Used to live at an apartment complex with lots of water features so these guys hung out most of the year bullying the residents and being hella loud. The goslings sure were cute though.

Life in SJ Casino
New to the casinos. Does The Matrix have tables under $50 buy in? I walked into Bay 101 and the first table I walked in was $1k buy in 😭 I just want to gamble my lunch money sometimes.

Advice Local organizations to donate clothes to?
Finally sorting through all the clothes that no longer fit, have a bunch of plus size clothes that I’d like to donate to a local organization that will get it out to the community rather than resell them. Any suggestions?

Advice Can you pay property tax with apple pay inside the office?
I would like to use my credit card to pay for my property taxes but my card is on the way in the mail and my taxes are due soon. Since my CC allows me to add the card to my ApplePay to spend, does anyone know if the Department of Tax and Collection office take apple pay if I make a trip inside and pay? Would like to take advantage of my credit cards sign up bonus.
Thanks
