Narrator: They did not get it.

Came here for this. Where's the reply? No way he replied with, " Oh, now I understand."

u/ClaimsAdjuster1312 14d ago

Nope, the moment of self-awareness was terrifying and they subsequently doubled-down on their ignorance.

u/El_Rey_de_Spices 14d ago

Doubtful they even had that moment. They probably just rejected the retort out of hand.

148

u/TBANON24 14d ago

Or they laughed and went back to lying and spreading disinformation because they profit from doing so....

People keep expecting ethics and morality when these people run on monetary goals.

They know they are lying, they know they are hypocritical, they know they use false equivalences, they know their words dont matter, they know they are spreading disinformation, and arguing against provable facts they themselves already know and agree with,

but they will continue to smile while emptying the pockets of dumbasses who believe them.

I angered a British fascist (who I thought was no longer a fascist), and he went magat! I think he was just trying to provoke me, though. I hope so, because the very idea of a British magat is insane. He's probably reading this, too :/

u/Mightyena319 14d ago

Someone came into the shop I work at wearing a maga hat a couple of months ago, and I live in England. I don't understand it either

33

u/MaldmalumConsilium 13d ago

it's considered a little obvious to wear a white hood or nazi armband these days

u/TiredMogwai 13d ago

I'd guess a combination of Internet "research", watching GB News (as appropriately named as Fox News), and daily mail/sun consumption, coupled with a desire to belong to something, whilst wanting the decline in living standards and ridiculous house prices to end.

Genuinely depressing šŸ™ƒ

Iā€™m British/American. It came as a shock to me that there are indeed British magats. They have red Mega hats. Donā€™t know if they are astroturfed or not but they had a march in central London protesting a jailbird who they like a lot couple of weeks ago. Iā€™m in a Facebook group for Brits in the USA and there are a number of Trump worshippers among them.

u/UrUrinousAnus 9d ago

I've met Qultists here in EnglandšŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø. I used to want to visit America when I was younger because there's so much wilderness left, but I'd hate to live there. Especially now.

1

u/Pristine_Mud_1204 9d ago

Oh donā€™t worry there wonā€™t be much wilderness left. I donā€™t know if the national park service who do fire maintenance etc are back working yet. Courts are in flux. But between wildfires, and talks about development on federal land, it might be gone soon.

1

u/UrUrinousAnus 8d ago

I've been thinking about this. Maybe it's an angle worth pushing. "Tourists are money!". Brits have been using that one as an excuse for keeping royalty around for so long that the Sex Pistols took the piss out of monarchy apologists for it, but it still works now and is at least as applicable to America's national parks. They can't drain the country of money if it doesn't have any left.

People keep expecting ethics and morality when these people run on monetary goals

Which is why they only "get" it when it's material goods and not people involved.

44

u/Vyzantinist 14d ago

You know it. I imagine their thought process went straight to "that's different!" They are so good at, and fond of, false equivalences they fundamentally cannot see a valid comparison when it's right in front of them.

38

u/KeyboardGrunt 14d ago

They only see life through their personal lenses, they'd follow up by saying it was whites that are being oppressed. I've had this debate so many times.

One specific time I was asked why black people don't just give up their grievances about slavery so society can finally move on, I asked how come they didn't just stop critizing black people for being aggrieved instead, without missing a beat their reply was "it's my first amendment right".

So yeah, they're blind as a bat from self entitlement.

33

u/Vyzantinist 14d ago

Amongst everything else, they don't understand burden; they're so certain x group or person should be the one to do or not do something, they hit a mental error 404 when you ask them why it has to be x person and not y person. I have seen the brain fart in realtime when rape has come up in discussion and they victim-blame; when they're asked "um, well why didn't the rapist just not, ya know, rape the victim?" you get the textual equivalent of a blank stare and they just circle back around to "what was she wearing tho?" because their thinking begins and ends with their pre-loaded talking points and catchphrases.

29

u/That_Flippin_Drutt 14d ago

"Because there's no video showing what that unarmed Black person was doing in the five hours before they were shot in the back by a cop, I can only assume it was justified." /S

u/TallyMasala 13d ago

My favorite aunt married someone like this. I realized he was parroting Fox News but when I was like 12 years old. The economy is crashing, and he's giddy that Disney toned down promotion for live action Snow White. Someone who doesn't understand burden.

15

u/Cafrilly 14d ago

Guarantee they just went "it's not the same" and moved on.

12

u/buttskinboots 14d ago

This is exactly it because they treat property with more respect than other people (especially brown folks)

2

u/Exotic-Beat-9224 9d ago

Not too long ago they treated brown people as property.

12

u/Save_Cows_Eat_Vegans 14d ago

If we're being honest there's at least a solid chance OP is both people.

10

u/ImNotSelling 14d ago

Being Frank, they probably arenā€™t the same person, but are probably both ai bots

15

u/Save_Cows_Eat_Vegans 14d ago

And a bot that posted it here. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm even real or just another AI bot.

7

u/Tysiliogogogoch 14d ago

If it helps, I cannot prove that you are real.

23

u/triedpooponlysartred 14d ago

Why would Obama do this to us?

23

u/NotMyMainAccountAtAl 14d ago

ā€œBlack people have never faced the level of violence and discrimination that a modern day Tesla does! Why no, I have never lived outside of a gated community or had any close black friends, but why would that matter?ā€

9

u/RedditAdminsBCucked 14d ago

"It's not the same!"

Doesn't elaborate

9

u/IMSLI 14d ago

Cognitive dissonance will actually kill themā€¦

66

u/Richard-Brecky 14d ago

If you sit down with a conservative and explain the basic facts of the matter and show them all the ways theyā€™ve been deceived, they usually come around to espousing a rational worldview.

What you do is you ask them how things should ideally work and they generally reinvent the left position. When you let them know that that is what the left wants then they immediately have a problem with how that idea doesn't arbitrarily make everything worse and harder or how it doesn't target certain groups for unfair treatment for no good reason. Something something, hard work abusing the system something.

23

u/caylem00 14d ago

"Why don't you want to vote for the party that has already proven they will fight for what you just suggested would work?"

And keep repeating the question until they answer it (without responding to any of their responses designed to distract you from getting an answer).

(And if you're feeling extra spicy) "Because they don't have the right team colours and weren't the party that your grandpappy decided his entire family would vote for?"

22

u/awesomefutureperfect 14d ago

"Why don't you want to vote for the party that has already proven they will fight for what you just suggested would work?"

"Conservative values". They will lie and say they care about the budget and spending or family or the veterans or defense or law and order or inflation or education or healthcare or any of the other things that they pretended to care about.

What they care about is putting people different than them in their place. They want to be able to mistreat people and those people to be afraid to do anything about it and they don't even want to see those people. They want assistance despite claiming to be against it but what they really want is to withhold assistance from groups of people different than them. They might actually care about the border because politics isn't about best possible outcomes but about vulgar displays of power.

They don't care about how anything works, they just want to be in charge. They want things that they don't deserve and didn't earn, like respect and authority and legitimacy and expertise.

Oh, I know. Studying history is not only an interest but part of my profession, and that includes a nice detour into social psychology and power structures.

My point was more aboutĀ forcing them to either work out that kind of thinking is the real reason why, or forcing them to verbalise the reason why.Ā

And if they have no problem with verbalising what they know, at that point, there's nothing to be done but shake your head, laugh, andĀ tell them they'll never be good enough for the in-group. Because if they were, they'd already be in it, and not suffering the effects of whatever they're complaining about.

And walk away.

It took my senator voting against an issue that was important to me (net neutrality) to become disenfranchised with him. But I didn't give up on the Republican party at that time. This was in the 00's.

Then I found out Comcast made a huge donation to his campaign just before the vote and I realized he is corrupt. But I didn't think the Republican party was corrupt.

Then donald trump ran for president. I laughed it off.

But when trump won the Republican nomination I was horrified. And when SO MANY Republicans kissed the ring I lost all hope that the party could be redeemed in my lifetime.

Best case scenario is a debilitating stroke turns donald trump into a drooling vegetable. I mean, more so than he is now. Enough of a vegetable that his followers forget about him.

But with project 2025 currently being implemented I fear whoever replaces him would be just as bad.

u/Asenath_W8 13d ago

So why were you perfectly happy to vote for racist bigots up until then? The GOP wasn't at all shy about what they were about.

11

u/BigGuyWhoKills 13d ago

There it is! Always at least one post by an idiot who thinks everyone had the same upbringing as they had. Can't be happy that someone changed and now agrees with you. You have to point out that you were right all along and I was wrong for so many years.

Well, congratulations! Did that help your fragile ego?

3

u/BlueJoshi 13d ago

I love to shame people for learning and growing; that definitely doesn't disincentivise others from leaving their nazi cult and joining the rest of modern society!

the dems are pbjectively less corrupt. I know youdont recognize progressives as part of the democratic party but they are. Half the party are neolibs the other half are progressives. The majority of the neolibs are probably corrupt while the majority of progressives aren't. The republicans are entirely corrupt. 100%>50% so the dems are less corrupt. I know this is reddit so thinking the world will end tomorrow is considered the most intelligent position but being cynical isn't the same as being correct.

She is. Anyone who wants to progress rights and protections for everyone is a progressive. And that is your 1st grade grammar lesson for the day.

You've got to stop screaming into that mirror buddy...

3

u/BigGuyWhoKills 14d ago

I don't recall making that claim. Maybe you replied to the wrong comment.

16

u/LtPowers 14d ago

If he did, he wouldn't be a SelfAwarewolf. They have to almost get it.

16

u/SuitableStudy3316 14d ago

The reply was "What a libtard, a car is not a person."

11

u/blahblah19999 14d ago

"White people get shot too"

Guarantee that's what you get back

7

u/CraftyKuko 14d ago

They absolutely had a brain crash, dial-up noises, and said out loud to themselves "THAT'S NOT THE SAME THING!"
