Not loosing

Today is officially 3 months on Semaglutide (7 weeks on full dose of 40 units) and I've only lost 12lbs. I feel really discouraged because I've seen other people lose 20+lbs by now. I also track calories and workout 3-4 times a week. Not sure if I should try something new or just keep with it? Has anyone else been this slow to lose?

You're averaging 1 lbs per week of weight loss, which is literally the ideal rste for sustainable success while maintaining your health. Congratulations!!!! I'm happy for you, and hope you can feel good about this :) For context, my average is half yours, 0.5 lbs per week, and I'm pretty heavy. I'd love to "see" faster results, but I'm very happy to be losing at a healthy (ie slower) rate. People who lose a ton are losing fast because of how drastically their caloric deficit is. You probably will have a healthier metabolism (and nicer looking face/hair/skin/nails) by going slower than you would at a faster rate.

Thank you!! I am proud of my progress, but comparing to others loss can be hard! I know I’m at least making progress, and I just need to stick with it. Thank you for the encouragement!

What do you mean “ only”? That’s a pound a week. Seems like it’s working. Do you have a goal outfit? Try it on. How’s it feel?

A goal outfit is such a good idea, thank you!

Everybody's body reacts differently to this stuff. My 10 month journey so far has been full of jitter and plateaus, but if you zoom out it's a slow, steady downward line.

It took me DECADES to put on the 53 lbs I've lost so far. The fact that it took 10 months to take it off is a blip, it's nothing. It's SO little time for such a life-altering result.

SO TRUE! Thank you for the encouragement.

Have you tracked your body composition?

Besides the scale, do you track how clothes fit? Waist chest thigh measurements?

But everyone's different. Maybe you just need to reach the higher doses.

Years to gain and months (however many) to lose is still a good spot to be.

I haven’t done any measurements, but I can definitely tell my clothes are fitting looser. The comparison game is hard for sure!

You are doing well. I lose 1 pound a month. Think about it: isn’t this better than going it on your own? Keep going. I think everyone is different. If you have less to lose, the weight comes off more slowly. Don’t be discouraged.

Thank you! I’m sure without the help of Semaglutide, I would be the same I was or weigh more. Just hard to not compare to others loss amount.

That's exactly 1 pound per week which is the perfect rate to lose so you cut down your chances of saggy loose skin. Great job! Do some weight lifting to build and retain muscle and make sure you're eating protein with every meal.

Thank you! Great advice.

You are doing fine. I lost 2 kgs (4.4 lbs) only in 3 months with exercise and calorie deficit

1-2 lbs per week is still considered losing weight. I'm on week 6. At 10 units(.5). I'm not going up a dose unless I see no weightloss. Iam at a 9 lb weightloss so far on glp1 and 16 lbs all together since middle of Feb. Keep going!

Keep going with how you are and look for signs in other areas than weight specifically.

Working out causes all sorts of weight fluctuations, after a heavy workout where I can feel what I've done the next day bad, I'll usually pickup at least a pound maybe more for a good while until I deload for a week or two. I usually go up 5-10lb's per mesocycle for example only to lose it when I take a rest period.

Outside of this when I do eventually lose the weight down to a new low or at least to what it was at my previous low, I may or may not see any weight loss each month, its been 2 months since I last lost anything according to the scale (4 months on semaglutide now), however I have gone down significantly in measurements.

I definitely can see a difference in my body and how my clothes fit. But watching the scale can be discouraging!

My own experience: I went from 240-220 in 3 months. That is 20 pounds in 3 months. 12 is not insignificant. I also have fluctuated frequently to the point I would suddenly drop 5 pounds then the next three weeks the scale would tell me no I was not 5 pounds lighter. Sounds like 12 pounds in 3 months is good. That’s 1 pound a week. I don’t know your starting weight, either. You could be building muscle as well so while you’re getting slimmer you still have a heavier mass being built. This is when the way clothes fit on you matters most since you’re working out.

I’ve definitely noticed a change in my body and clothes fitting better, so I know I am making progress. Of course I wish it was faster though. Lol but I know this is more sustainable, just can get frustrating.

Keep at it. I’m losing about .5 to 1 lb per week on average, but over six months it adds up! I put on my favorite shorts yesterday that I couldn’t wear the last two summers and they fit perfectly!

3 months is 12 weeks which equals one pound per week. You’re doing great

I've only lost about 6 in 2.5 months... feels disappointing for sure, and hopefully because it was on a really low dose. Moving up to .5mg now.
