WEIRD side effects
Curious about anyone else…
Coffee/hot drinks: I don’t want it at all. I used to LOVE my morning coffee and now I force myself to drink it so I don’t get a headache (I still need the caffeine). I don’t want any hot drinks, period.
SWEETS: I want sweets! I used to never have a sweet tooth and now I need something every day.
Sparkling vs Still: I used to drink a bunch of LeCroixs on a daily basis. Now? I want either plain water OR have been drinking a bunch of Crystal Light.
Perfume: The weirdest one is my perfume. I have been wearing the same scent for 20 years and now I cannot stand it. Smells all weird and powdery on me.
I don’t know if any of these are connected or if I’ve just ….changed. Anyone? I have been on the shot since Jan.

I am a huge coffee lover and at first that happened to me, but eventually it came back and I enjoyed my coffee just as much as ever now after having been on 2.4 for a few months

Still one cup a day in the morning but I have to say my sugar addiction hasn't moderated to any great degree. Oh and I never used to think about poop as much as I do now.

I had to switch from coffee to tea with almond milk. I never drank tea prior to glp but can no longer tolerate coffee. I also am craving sweets- mainly chocolate. My cravings used to be chips and salsa and guacamole. I have zero appetite for that now.

I actually feel sick from drinking coffee now, which bums me out. It was part of my morning rituals that I loved. Maybe I will switch to tea, but I sure love the smell of coffee still.

I had to switch to the white monsters. On a whim, one day a week ago, I ordered a regular coffee with Splenda and whole milk and was so sick I couldn't function for a day.

I am #2, but I also notice that my choice of diet soda doesn’t hit the same.

1, 3 = same

Same: 2 and 3. I avoid sweets all day and have a piece of dark chocolate at night with a cup of decaf.

At various times in the titration I have lost and developed a taste for different ordinary things. Went up to 1.25 mgs. recently and found that meateater me wanted blueberries and not chicken for dinner. The body is trying hard to recalibrate to drinking wine, but unless I stay at one dose for awhile it can't provide enough dopamine to make it wortjwhile. I am making crepes with champagne for friends tonight amd I will not be tempted to eat/drink the leftovers. Still really enjoying fresh scents amd aromas like mowed grass, pine terpins and ground coffee beans, but I would have to heavily cream my morning coffee to have it be a pleasure drink like a black cup would have done before. 2nd cup tastes like sludge to me now.

Yes. I have loved a hot cup of coffee for ever but now I don’t want it. I drink iced instead.

Not quite the same but I used to LOVE tea, I’d drink so much of it throughout the day (both herbal and black) but now I think it’s gross and I’m kinda upset about it haha

Omg I normally love my coffee, I have an espresso machine and the pods and I’ve been on it Semaglutide 4 weeks and I can’t stand the taste of coffee, hot or iced and it’s making me sad… I’m hoping my taste for coffee comes back !

- Yesssss I’m a serious coffee connoisseur and can barely stand to drink more than 2 oz of coffee a day.
- I actually usually have a sweet tooth but now I can’t stomach anything sweet. Even store bought pasta sauce and bread makes me nauseous because it’s too sweet
- Yes!!!! The smell of any perfume is now so overpowering is and is making me instantly nauseous. Idc how good it smells I want to puke. Even essential oils are driving me insane

Thank you for confirming the perfume ick!! It’s almost like I’m pregnant again…back then, scents were SO overpowering.

u/Cali-Texan 1d ago
Wow I also now don’t want coffee and love sweets. Used to be the complete opposite

u/Wellthatscute 1d ago
I can relate to most of these assumptions too. Why do I crave sweets more than before?! I hate it!

I was also a multiple coffee a day person, and now have a serious aversion to hot coffee and pretty much all hot drinks. My beloved coffee mug collection is collecting dust, and the new Nespresso machine I bought hasn't been used in months.
I can't say I miss the coffee itself (because even the thought of drinking it makes me nauseous), but I miss the experience of pouring a cup, how the warm mug feels in my hand, the ritual of slowly walking up in the morning while enjoying my coffee.

Yes!! It doesn’t make me feel sick, but the idea of having it is just like ughhhh I do NOT want it!

u/AngieSparkles 1d ago
Food aversion! I've experienced so much of this on this medication, it's wild.

Yes for sure! Coffee came back though but I feel I am more sensitive to the caffeine.

1) I am an iced coffee in the middle of a snowstorm kind of a person & now I can only drink it warm. Not hot, but warm. 2) sweets are the only food group that still tastes good & I can experience the same "food enthusiasm" for now. 3) The burping is extra intense, not pleasant for me either. 4) I haven't noticed this.
I always liked hard candies & now I eat them even more. Am I craving the sugar because my glucose is low? Not sure. But only red meat is tolerable. Cannot eat chicken or port (ham is ok). The meats have a very gamey smell even though they are just form the grocery store.

Sometimes beef smells like dead cow and makes me sick at the thought. I mean it is dead cow but normally that doesn't affect me. Is the med trying to even out cravings?

Same here except perfume, but I had already mostly stopped wearing it by the time I started sema.

I used to LOVE coffee, now can’t drink it. I used have an insatiable sweet tooth, now sweet turn me off. I love seltzer water more than ever. I used to love gourmand scents but now I can’t stand them. Fruity and flowery scents are ok.

u/No_Duck4805 1d ago
I’ve been a hard core morning coffee drinker for about 30 years. Now I don’t want it. I’ve tried iced, fancy, black. I just don’t want it anymore. I miss it :(

u/Laurenzo80 1d ago
Same on all of these, especially 1 & 3. I switched to iced coffee and wont touch la croix (used to drink at least a couple every day).
3
u/bingbongtake2long 1d ago
And it’s weird with the lecroix, it doesn’t DO anything to me, I’m just like “ugh no way”

1,2 and 4 for me. I am still looking for new perfume
3
u/bingbongtake2long 1d ago
I just had to find one - I honestly felt naked leaving the house without a spritz of SOMETHING - but it took forever and I still don’t love this new one

u/glam_cat 1d ago
It seems that I prefer now mix of fruity and floral scents and I never liked fruity smells

I used to drink coffee all day. Them days are over at least for now. I might get 2 cups down now.

I am so very sad that I don’t want coffee anymore. I am a 2 cups in the morning girl and since I started it I can barely stomach the thought of it and if I can, I can only get a few sips in lol

u/Winter-Document-970 1d ago
Strange how differently it impact people. I completely lost my sweet tooth, had absolutely no desire at all for sugar and I just ate some bacon and tuna fish before calling it a day.

It feels like I’m having a whole meal whenever I have a hot drink now. My friend just made me a coffee a couple hours ago and we sipped on it while we worked on his computer, then we went to get takeout and I wasn’t actually hungry but now I have to poop and I’ve been trying not to release any gas. 🤣🤣🤣 I’m so stressed!!!
Anyway, my whole reason I’m fat is because I’m addicted to sugar and savory foods, especially when I’m stressed, so it’s helping my every day consumption but not my stress cravings!!!
I’m drinking water out of a McDonald’s cup, so yay? I can’t drink my Cirkul for whatever reason ever since I started this medication and I’m just now realizing the aversion must be on the flavors.
I’m starting to not like my perfume that’s supposed to be a Marc Jacobs dupe, but that could be because it’s a knockoff. I don’t know. It just smells like stale woody air freshener after a while.

None of my favorite foods hit the same 😭 the one thing I am Newley addicted too now…. Is weirdly…. Brisk lemonade, the the only non water thing that fulfills a sweet drink. I don’t drink it everyday but if on the weekend I’m out n about and I see it I’ll get myself one.

u/SchenellStrapOn 1d ago
I’m the same with sweets. I crave a lot more sugar than I ever have before.
For me the weirdest thing is that sour cream is disgusting. I can’t stand to smell or taste it. I used to love it on Mexican, potatoes and onion dips. I’m glad I don’t want it as I am definitely a salty savory eater but it’s strange to suddenly hate something I’ve eaten and loved my whole life.
I didn’t realize it but I’ve also stoped drinking sparkling waters. I think the artificial flavors all taste metallic.

u/imemotional 20h ago
Same with sour cream for me! I LOVE it and I tried it in a taco bowl recently and couldn’t stand it. Also ground beef…I am completely repulsed by those two things currently

I am in my 6th month of taking it and after my shot on Friday night, I can’t stand any liquids. I drink coffee every morning hot or iced, but right now everything feels thick and it’s grossing me out. Is anyone else experiencing this? I went to drink a swig of water while driving Saturday morning and I almost puked at the wheel. My water felt like gel in my mouth coating everything. Yesterday I made myself chug a liquid iv but I think that’s all I drank because I couldn’t stomach anything else.

u/ClassicProgram1902 19h ago
All of this is normal. Tuna tastes like ash. Coffee sometimes.....certainly less Lots of foods I like I cant stand to even think of but my love of sparkling water ie Perrier is undiminished.

Because your body is going in a healthier direction. Every single one of those things that you are currently doing you should not be doing anymore. Take advantage of it and get unhealthier habits

I used to get tired of eating things if I had them too often in a row (like as leftovers or for meal prepping), but now I eat the same damn things everyday. It’s super rare that I am not grossed out by the thought of eating something out of what is now my daily comfort zone LOL. Plus, I’ll actually crave those meals and look forward to them. This is almost a year in for me, so it’s just a side effect that stuck I guess. Plus, it saves money rather than constantly trying to switch it up.

I also had to quit coffee and I was a HUGE addict. It literally grossed me out one day.
