Alcohol

So I started semaglutide last week. Definitely have seen a difference in my appetite. I haven’t counted but I’m eating probably around 12-1500 calories a day. For reference I’m 31, SW 265. In the past I’ve been able to have several glasses of whiskey in a night and feel good. Last night while with some buddies a had 2 2 oz glasses over the span of 4 hours and I felt hammered. I drink over a gallon of water a day..is this normal?

totally normal! admittedly i wasn’t a big drinker before i started, but once i did even a little wine would make me bloated and sick to my stomach. now i have no desire to drink any alcohol. it’s just your body processing the liquor differently because of the medicine.

edit to add: everyone reacts differently to the medicine though. some people probably don’t notice a big difference while others notice a massive difference.

I don’t feel the sickness or bloat, but all of a sudden I felt like I was on the tail end of a bender lmao it’s just new to me because I’d be able to have a nice nightcap before bed or whatever but I guess not

tbh it’s weird. your body starts processing stuff differently and stuff that was totally okay before all of a sudden is totally different. learning to navigate it can be kinda tricky but this subreddit has been very helpful for me.

Before sema, I binge drank at least once per week, and now only drink once per month, if that. Not only did my cravings go away, but when I do drink, the buzz feels nasty and it takes at least two extra days to recover (4 total days). I also noticed that sema efficacy goes down for about a week after drinking.

Between the bad buzz, worse hangover, and reduced sema efficacy, I have no desire to drink. Which is great for me

Try not to drink. One glass of 2 oz Whiskey is 260 calories.
