Question GPU for Triple 32in monitors with 1440@144hz

I’m looking to buy an entire sim setup for drifting. The rig is a full moza r5 setup + the stated monitors + cockpit. I’d like to know the GPU needed to safely run these specs, or possibly what it’s like to run on lower specs w cheaper GPU. Thanks for the help!

Rigs Finally got my setup just how I like it with the space I've got.

Cable management is totally sucky, but it's about the best it can possibly be given where everything is situated. Got my knock-off Stream Deck setup as a button box that has separate profiles for all the sims I play, and my wife's super old Nexus tablet acting as a timing screen. It's taken years to get to this point, but I'm finally comfortable with it.

Discussion Coming from ACC, is playing GT7 worth it?

Been playing ACC (and Assetto Corsa) for a good while now and honestly starting to feel a bit burnt out. I’ve been keeping an eye on Rennsport, but the impressions so far even considering it’s still in development haven’t exactly been confidence-inspiring.

The only other alternative I’ve really got right now is Gran Turismo 7. I know it’s often labeled as “simcade,” but one of the main reasons I picked up a PS5 was actually to play GT7. That said, coming from a hardcore sim like ACC, I’m wondering if it would actually be worth the switch. Will it feel too casual? Or is there enough depth in GT7 to keep someone used to top-tier sim racing engaged?

Would love to hear from anyone who’s made a similar transition or bounced between the two. e switch. Will it feel too casual? Or is there enough depth in GT7 to keep someone used to top-tier sim racing engaged?

Question Help with reducing tire wear on F1 24

I’ve got around 45 hours of playtime in F1 24 and I’m playing on controller. I use no assists for braking and racing line, but I still keep ABS, traction control, and automatic gears on.

Lately, I’ve noticed that during long races I’m dealing with a lot of tire wear. Naturally, I’m getting faster lap times compared to my friend and the AI, but as a result, I’m also having to pit earlier and I lose performance quicker.

I’ve been paying attention and noticed my tires overheat a lot during high-speed corners — like, way too much. Could this be related to any in-game setup I’m missing, or is it simply because I’m pushing too hard into the corners?

Would switching traction control to medium and learning to drive that way help reduce tire wear?

Question New R5 or used 8nm CSL DD?

So in my country its hard to find used racing gear for a good price. I have found someone selling a R2R Mclaren Elite bundle, which is €800 new. Only problem is its QR1. They are looking for €650, but id only pay atound €550.

My original plan was to buy a R5 bundle with break mod and es formula wheel. That will cost me €580 delivered, and the alien mods load cell will cost another €60.

Is the fanatec the better option as the pedals are natively load cell, and is 8nm? Is QR1 going to be a drawback? Am i better off spending more money on new moza gear?

And help appreciated!

Rigs ASR 6 GEN 1 VS ASR PRO GEN 2

Looking to get my dream sim rig. After reviewing multiple YouTube videos and Reddit post, I found that advancedsimracing.com would be the best for me (I live in west coast USA). Their price includes shipping which is a huge bonus since most companies like Simlab, gtomega, nextlevelracing, etc charge a lot for shipping.

Been stuck on ASR 6 gen 1 vs ASR pro gen 2. I heard the main difference is the open vs flat face and cable management. I plan on getting the adjustable pro wheel deck as well.

Would love to get your opinion on which one is better. I'm stuck between the two.

Question Pedal Mount BST-1 + pedal haptics = overkill?

Assembling new profile rig and have recently added Simagic Pedal Haptics. Previous to the profile alum rig, before having the p1000s I had a BST1 + nobosound mounted on near my pedal.

I already have a BST-1 under my seat, moved over to new rig as well.

Question to you all: should I place the bass shaker back under my pedal plate with the haptics already on my pedals? Should I place it elsewhere?

Currently I use haptics mostly for notification (low number of feedback points) but I assume I will move over to heavier immersion haptics as I get better and more experienced.

Rigs Thinking of buying a beginner cockpit found a couple by NLR, any advice (btw please dont recommend the GT Omega because its not available in Australia). Cockpits below.

These cockpits are all the same value, 499 AUD or 300 USD (keep in mind this is roughly my budget):

  1. FGT-Lite

  2. GT Lite Pro

  3. Victory Simulator

  4. Formula Lite Pro

If not these, should I just buy the NLR Wheelstand Lite 2.0 and get an add-on over time?

Question Decent budget upgrade?

I won this racing seat for $70 in an auction. Seems like a decent path forward for the money!

Now I have to go pick it up and make sure all the parts are there. I bought the insurance for $7 so it has a 5 day no questions asked return period.

One time I got a bedframe from this auction site and it ended up being a broken electric scooter 🤷🏼‍♂️

Discussion Somebody want to help a retired sim racing "veteran" with the current hardware?

Hello sim racers,

being one of you in the past, starting really early with Toca Racing, owning the famous Logitech G27 and also playing iRacing (2010-2013), I now want to try my comeback.

Now unfortunately I am out of touch with the latest hardware. I did some research but it seems like so many companies catched up with sim racing hardware compared to the old times.

My budget in total is 5K (EUR).

I own two 27 inch Monitors (4K) and a Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Ultra with a RTX 4050 and 16GB of RAM, that's it.

I prefer screens over VR (getting sick) and I love the gt3 class. From what I have seen iRacing is still the gold standard and I would stick with iRacing therefore (competitive).

A have enough space now and my wife said she will support my hobby (she will regret).

What would be your choice of hardware with that kind of budget? I simply would appreciate any kind of input of you guys.

Also if you have any questions, I will answer them obviously.

Thank you guys.

Question Dasboard suggestions/ascher led brightness ?

Hi,

Im looking for a dashboard between wheelbase/wheel in 4 or 5 inch for simucube. What suggestions would you have in 350-450 max price range and simhub integration.

My current option is the Ascher dashboard, but how blinding are the leds with lowest brightness. I've watched videos of it and in reviews its stated that they are extremely bright. Seems also that they cant be tuned down to 0-5 brightness without turning them completely off in simhub. Im a little light sensitive, so having the leds too bright and having to run them at 10-20 minimum in simhub is a little concerning. Wouldnt want to add some film or anything on them.

Question 4th monitor

Hello all. I have recently upgraded my rig to triple 32" monitors, i kinda want to declutter my monitors of overlays and the perfect way to do this seems a 4th monitor.

I kinda don't want a 4th on top but rather a smaller one down low where a center console would be, anyone here with a similar kind of setup or any pros-cons?

Rigs DIY FFB Power Supply Help!!

Guys so I've planned a diy ffb wheel build with 2 - RS775 motors with a gear ratio of 3:1.

I'm confused of what psu to use whether a 12v/30A or 24v/15A.

I want a descent ffb response but still don't want to risk the motors and other components by overheating them. Also I leaned towards the 24volt but now am confused of whether it actually is needed or 12volt is more than enough or weak for descent ffb.

So people who built their own ffb wheel or has knowledge in these things please help me out!!

(*I plan to play F1, Forza and Gt3 )

Rigs Fanatec GT Cockpit + Motion System

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi all, I have a Fanatec GT Cockpit simulator and I would like to upgrade it with a movement system. I know that for this purpose a profiled rig would have been better, but my goal is to try to understand if there is the possibility of making the Fanatec GT Cockpit move. I have identified some movement platforms, such as the Thermaltake GM5 3DOF Motion System that theoretically could be fine, provided that I find a way to fix each "leg" to each side of the cockpit. To do this I imagine that I could use the hole where the foot is fixed, to fix a sort of metal plate with the right holes to fix the leg. Clearly this is a fairly artisanal job and before deciding whether to try it, I wanted to know if anyone had already developed a solution of this kind, or if there are platforms on the market that are already natively compatible with the Fanatec Cockpit GT. Thanks!

Question Slipping cog T-500rs

Hey everyone, I recently bought a second-hand Thrustmaster T500RS wheel base paired with a Ferrari F1 wheel. However, when I’m driving and having a medium to high ffb(especially when turning to the left), I feel like something inside the wheel base is skipping or jumping—like a notch or a cog slipping. After that, the neutral position isn’t centered (like 10 degrees left). My wheel looks well attached, so I guess it’s inside the base. For now, my only solution has been to reduce the ffb (currently 60% sim/60% in game). Is there any solution excepting buying a new base or limiting ffb pls?

Question Recommended setup for newbie with desk setup?

So I’ve decided the take the plunge and want to get into sim racing. Only catch is at the moment I’m quite space restricted in my apartment and it really needs to work well with my current desk & chair setup.

I’m looking at Moza R9 or Fanatec CSL DD at around 8 nm so I’m quite sure desk mounting is not a viable option. I’m also a bit concerned about how the chair will spin under braking, even if I have one of these connecting pieces that will lock in the chair wheels to prevent movement?

I’ve seen things like the GT Omega and similar recommended on here which seem like they have decent upgrade paths as well for the future, but I’m still not sure if they will really work out with my setup?

Any tips or advice? Thanks

Rigs Average sim racer set up

Post image
11 Upvotes

Heard someone say in a comment to not compare yourself to the people you see on this forum, most people's set ups are much more budget friendly. So here's my average cheap set up: moza r5 (used), srp lite clutch with performance upgrade springs, moza hgp shifter, old 60hz TV from my brother, and a knock off playseat from Amazon. Any and all suggestions are welcome!
