Product Question [product Question] Anyone else having problems with peach and lily glass skin set ? Spoiler

Post image
Upvotes

**SN , I took this picture at an angle so you can really see all the textures , i promise i’m not normally this ugly 😂😂 I’m so sad that peach and lily glass skin set is TERRIBLE for me . I got it for $40 at ulta , and my skin has transformed in the worst way . I haven’t had skin this bad since i was a teenager (think 15 years old so almost 10 years ago) . Now its super dry , few acne spots all over , clumpy dry skin patches , and peeling skin . I wanted to love it sooo bad but its messing up my normally clear skin . I only used it for 2 weeks (and this was about a month ago) , but it feels like suchhh a waste to throw it away . I wanna try again but i’m scared .. i’m in the process of clearing up my skin again , and its looking better now that i stopped but idk lol just sad really and wanna know if anyone else has had this issue and what would you recommend thats budget friendly for dry sensitive skin . Any help is appreciated

Acne [Acne] How do i get rid of this forehead texture and acne? Spoiler

Post image
Upvotes

To preface, my acne is wayyy better than it used to be, and now i deal with mostly texture issues, with a few pimples popping up now and then. My routine: AM: Gentle cleanser, 345 relief cream PM: Gentle cleanser/salicylic acid cleanser, epiduo equivalent, moisturizer

Also, I have oily skin, & whenever i exfoliate which dries out the skin, i get very oily, and I heard this is due to lack of moisturization after, but i make sure to moisturize

Any help?

Acne [Acne] do i need to see derm at this point ? Spoiler

I'm tired of having acne and it's just ruined everything for me. My actual skin looks very tan but now my face looks dark and have uneven skin tone because of lots of acne breakout and it won't just stop. I started to have acne when i was 13 and now i'm 21 and it's just won't stop. I have oily and acne prone skin.

My routine is cleanser follows up with toner, serum and moisturizer and all of my product contain salicylic acid. And i exfoliate twice a week. At first it's helped me alot but starting from a week ago my face get really tan and dark. Even worse the breakout happens mostly at chin and forehead, sometimes breakout happens at the same place where old acne just healed. No matter how hard i try i can't rid of acne and whiteheads on my chin. My forehead getting more darker.

Do i need to see derm at this point ? Do you guys have any suggetions ?

Research [Acne] [research] topical spironolactone

Upvotes

Hi! I bit the bullet about two months ago and visited the derm 😵‍💫 I do my best to be an informed patient(I have to push my derm and explain my reasoning often to get anywhere), and have decided to climb the therapeutic ladder. Starting at 0.05% Tretinoin, I'm considering my next steps as it's not strong enough to combat the time around my menstrual cycle.

Before you say, "Give it time!" I am very conscious of what works and what doesn't work for my skin. While I may not see the full benefits yet, I have seen enough to know the current percentage is not enough to hold off my sebaceous glands.

I'm holding off on any oral forms of birth control, steroids, or antibiotics.

Which brings me to my question! Has anyone had any experience with topical spironolactone? I've done minimal digging and heard some successful stories. Also wondering if anyone has had it formulated with tretinoin? And if so, what was the approximate cost post-insurance?

Thanks so much!

Routine Help What else should I incorporate in my skincare routine to meet goals below ? 🫧 (25 yrs) [Routine Help] Spoiler

Hello! Happy to be a new member of this sub. Please see my selfies below (with minimal makeup on). GOALS- I would love to get some advice on my current routine and what else I could do to help with: dark under eyes, large pores, texture and slight frown and forehead lines/ overall preventative aging). See current routine below:

⛅️ AM- Very generous amount La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Moisturizer SPF UV 50 and Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid (very rarely do I wear makeup, maybe 3 times a month!)

🌙 PM- Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant (twice a week) and Paula’s Choice Retinol (once a week) mixed with a (daily) generous amount of Rhode Glazing Milk and/or Cetaphil PM moisturizer + Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid

I would like to find a good eye cream for more awake look since I rarely wear makeup, a good skin tint also with skin care benefits (hate foundation), and something for my huge pores.

Thank you all soooo much in advance, any advice is greatly appreciated! 🫧

Ive had bumps like these for awhile. I thought it might be an allergy but i am unsure:///

I am currently using the following since my breakout: 1. Cetaphil cleanser 2 Avene tolerance moisturizer 3. Centella Sunscreen

Before this i was using paulas choice AHA/BHA, the ordinarys retinol, Kopari moisturizer and prequel salicylic acid cleanser. Loadsss of actives…i know

I suspected it was the moisturizer since it was relatively the newest product i was using. I am nervous to start using actives again but i need to bc i have very (sensitive) and acne prone skin. I have been told about differin. Thoughts?

any help is greatly appreciated:)

Routine Help [Routine Help] New skincare routine by dermatologist

Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I went to see a dermatologist and he updated my skincare routine after I started experiencing red spots and breakouts, mostly on my forehead. My old routine had worked well for years, but either my skin changed—or the products did.

After evaluating my skin, he diagnosed me with hormonal acne. I’ve kept my cleanser and moisturizer the same, but everything else is new.

Prescribed Routine

Morning:

  1. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
  2. Even&Correct Pads (SkinMedica)
  3. Clindamycin Phosphate Lotion 1%
  4. Even&Correct Advanced brightening Serum (SkinMedica)
  5. Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer
  6. Elta MD SPF 46

Evening:

  1. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
  2. SkinMedica Retinol 0.25% (3x/week)
  3. EC Serum
  4. Moisturizer

My experience so far:

I’ve been hesitant to start the retinol and clindamycin lotion because I’m nervous about purging—but I’ve recently started breaking out on my cheeks too, so it feels like now’s the time to commit.

The EC pads feel a bit too harsh on my skin. They sting and cause redness, so I’ve decided to use them just once a week at night instead.

Adjusted Routine (What I think works for me)

Morning:

  1. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
  2. Clindamycin Lotion (Mon & Fri)
  3. EC Serum
  4. Vanicream Moisturizer
  5. Elta MD SPF 46

Evening:

  1. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
  2. EC Pads (Wed)
  3. Retinol (Sun)
  4. EC Serum
  5. Moisturizer

I’m open to suggestions or tweaks if anyone’s had experience with these products or similar routines—especially managing sensitivity while treating hormonal acne! Please and thank you!

Routine Help [Routine help] Face cleanser & benzoyl peroxide face cleanser = shiny/oily skin? Spoiler

Upvotes

I’ve been using Cerave Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser for about 2 months now, and I never had any issues. Recently I’ve been applying Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser before I use the acne foaming cream cleanser, and my skin is getting shiny/oily. Should I stop the facial cleanser and just start using the acne foaming cream cleanser?

Product Request [Product Request] Drugstore Pure Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum?

Upvotes

I've been off accutane for a while about 6 months and I saw really good results, i've basically kept my routine in a good holding pattern to help with the dark marks:

Cleansing Oil at night

usually a BHA or BP acne cleanser at night

niacinamide serum AM&PM

azelaic acid AM&PM

vitamin c serum AM

Gel cream moisturizer AM&PM

i used to use 3-o ethyl for vitamin c a long time ago, i recently started to use sodium ascorbyl phosphate, but once i run out im starting to look into a pure ascorbic acid serum at the drugstore, im looking for one thats not too expensive, about 25$ and under.

I've seen the Cerave 10% one, Prequel 15% and then the Timeless, and i'll probably have to get the 20% since that's all they have at target, what would y'all recommend or do you guys have another option? thanks!

Acne [ACNE] How the hell do you get rid of dry acne prone skin??

Everything I’m reading online of how people cleared their acne/CC texture is through topicals and treatments that are all inherently drying. I’m talking tret, spiro, accutane, differin, frequency wands, niacinamide, etc. My skin is extremely sensitive and dry yet acne prone with CC and blackheads, which I don’t understand how my pores keep on getting clogged if my skin is barely moisturized. Yet if I moisturize more I full on breakout.

I tend to get flaking on my skin paired with dozens of little CC bumps that seem to only go away with completely drying out my skin. Yet after a few weeks of drying out my skin I get these red irritated patches of skin so I switch to a gentler routine and the bumps increase again. It’s like a hell loop i’m stuck in. Even the “gentle” Vanicream cleanser started drying out my skin within a couple weeks. Been to several derms but it seems like a waste of money at this point because everything they can prescribe is just going to dry out my skin to the point where it hurts to even open my mouth with how tight it is. Please I need help or advice!

Product Request [Product Request] Finding a replacement in the US Spoiler

So I've been using this product for a while and my skin absolutely loves it. I don't use a ton of stuff and this is honestly one of my staples. However, since I moved to the US, I can't find it anywhere. I'm almost out of my current one right now and need to find a similar product that will do a similar job for my skin. I apply it once in the morning. Does anyone have any recommendations? Or has used this product in the past and found a similar one that works for them now? Thank you!! (fwiw, my skin is mixed, it can get dry but also oily in the 'hormonal' areas)

Miscellaneous [Misc] how should I heal this? Spoiler

Post image
1 Upvotes

I picked this after trying to pop whatever it was like a week ago and it's basically stayed looking like this. The redder area is the spot that hasn't scabbed, the other spots have.

I've used vaseline/hydrocolloid/hyaluronic acid/Neosporin and nothings really changed. I kept it dry yesterday and last night with a bandage. When I cover it with something like Vaseline it ends up filling up like a pimple.

I am okay with just leaving it alone, I have a hydrocolloid on it (tho I'm worried they make things worse, I may be allergic), but I'm wondering if I should just let it dry out, just put just a simple bandaid on it instead, or what I should try. Thanks

Hi!! I’m 19 and newly getting into skincare! Right now I’m using a body lotion as face moisturizer and I was wondering if this is bad for me or anything? What would be the difference between using the body lotion versus a face specific moisturizer? and does anyone have any good cheap recommendations if this isn’t good for me?

Miscellaneous [Misc] This red bump appeared on my nose 3 months ago, how do I get rid of it? Spoiler

I noticed this red dot on my nose in the middle of January, at the time I thought it was just acne. Now it's April and it's still here. Is this worth a trip to the dermatologist or is there anything I can do to get rid of it? I use CeraVe cleanser on my face when I shower pretty much every day and CeraVe face lotion right afterwards. Thanks for your help!
