MEGATHREAD: NALC arbitration is back, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 percent raises, steps AA and A out, most provisions of TA kept.
Congratulations on your new contract, NALC. I'm sure the rural and APWU contracts will soon follow...

Work Discussion Fellow T6s, what’s your least favorite thing about being a T6?
Mine by far is how OT works as a T6. Either it’s all or nothing. Work assignment = being eligible to work 12 hours a day. If you have an 8 hour person on your swing or person(s) who miss a lot of work you’re completely fucked.
I’ve never had a problem being on work assignment as a carrier. I like finishing the route I’m on regardless if I’m going to make 8, be over 30 mins, or be over an hour plus.
Really wish there was another option for a T6 where you’re only on work assignment for THAT single route you’re on for that given day. Not all 5 routes.

Work Discussion 60 Day Assessment CCA and my 2 cents
Feel like I have come a really long way from when I started. Remember a 3-4 hour pivot would take me a whole day the first 14 days. A regular transferred to another station and their route is open and management stuck me on that route, granted it is one of the longest routes, but one of the calmer routes. I am now finishing the whole route in a reasonable time. Management hasn’t really bothered me knocks on wood about it. Now all the folks on the route are asking if I am their new permanent carrier. All I can say for the CCA’s struggling it does get easier and opt in as soon as you get the chance. Also a random question since the route is open for regulars how long does it take for it to be filled.

Work Discussion What just happened?!!!
The contract went from 1.3%, 1.3%, 1.3% consecutive annual raises to supposedly “better” deal of 1.3%, 1.4%, 1.5% consecutive annual raise which is up by .3%.
Check this out… the top pay went from the rejected $85K+ annual salary to $81K+ annual salary… can someone look into this disturbing miscalculated transition… it’s a significant dollar amount being lost against top pay earners with bigger families to support… this ain’t right!!! It’s unacceptable!!! Please somebody fix this mistake ASAP

DISCUSSION Amazing service. BIG thank you.
I can't begin to believe the lengths the post office has gone through to figure out where my package is. After submitting a missing mail piece, I have received 3 emails and 2 phone calls tracking it down. It turned out that there was another label stuck to it so it just kept going around in an endless loop between post offices. I was shocked at the effort that went into getting this package to me. I just got a personal call telling me that the package has entered our state! Thank you to everyone who work so hard to get our letters and packages to us.

DISCUSSION City carriers are a different breed
As I sit here soaked and freezing from another midwestern storm I’ve come to the realization that we all have to be a little bit psycho to do this job.
As much as the general public and union want to act like it isn’t that hard, majority of people wouldn’t be able to walk a half marathon with mail and packages in the elements every day.
The worst it is the more I just embrace the suck. In the words of Jocko Willink in response to suffering, “Good.”

Work Discussion Is anyone else getting stand-ups in the morning about seat belts?
My office has been on our asses about making sure we use our seatbelts. Not just about making sure we use them while driving but now we cannot have the vehicle on without first putting on our seatbelts. The same goes when turning the vehicle off we first have to turn the vehicle off then unbuckle.

Work Discussion Called off
Didn’t feel well so I called off today and tomorrow ( I’m a PTF 4 years in). My supervisor text me this morning demanding documentation. My understanding is I have to call off 3 times in a 3 month timeframe to require documentation. This is my first call off in a year. What are your thoughts?

Work Discussion ARC Standby
Hi, I’m an ARC and it’s my last day at the USPS and I was put on standby until 11 (my normal time to come in is 10) does this mean I just wait for a call til 11 and come in as normal or if I don’t get a call by 11 then don’t come in at all? Also, more importantly, is this time on standby paid? I’ve actually never been on call/standby before so this is new

Work Discussion ARC Sunday
So I’ve been an arc for about two months now. We used to scan and sort inside the building and now they are forcing us to scan outside. Management said its for “efficiency.” Its a little chilly today, not terrible, but what about when its 100 + outside? Just seems counterintuitive

Work Discussion Is this a common experience?
I've been a CCA now for 6 months and in my first 90 I didn't miss a day and ran every route they gave me. Most times in under the projected times. So much that they labeled me a runner. Now after seeing that all they kept doing was stacking more work and telling me it's the same amount each day I've slowed all the way down. Now I'm considered the "lazy ass". Now my question is: can they discipline me if I no longer run the routes as fast?

DISCUSSION People need to train their dogs better
There’s a wild aggressive German Shepard at this house. I go up to the mailbox next to door and he slam the door so hard it broke a piece of the glass on the door. I won’t be surprised if that door does down from all the abuse and attacks me or a pedestrian. A big lawsuit waiting to happen

Work Discussion A special thanks.
It usually doesn't bother me when packages talk, but had one today that loudly went "HA HA HA Fuck you!" Every bump, every acceleration, deceleration, every time I'd glare at it, and when I wouldn't. Especially when people were close to the boxes as I'd pull up, the damn thing went off HA HA HA Fuck you! THE ENTIRE ROUTE Why the entire route? because it was a signature required. So a special thanks to the manufacturer for making it so loud even the radio couldn't drown it out. HA HA HA Fuck you! Thanks to the clerk who probably recommended "make it an adult sig required" that way when a kid answers the door the carrier can take it back to the station. Guess who was not home today ANYONE CLOSE TO 21. HA HA HA Fuck you! Thanks to the plant for expediting it before the batteries died because other things can be delayed, but adult novelty packages need to go out priority. HA HA HA Fuck you! Thanks to the novelty store for keeping the batteries in and the on/off switch on. HA HA HA Fuck you! I hope anyone involved with that package steps on many legos tonight. I hope everyone else has a good day.

Work Discussion USPS Canceled My Renewed Contractor Route and Rebid It looking for Cheaper — What Can I Do?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been a CDS contractor for the USPS for 22 years. My route was renewed in November 2024 for $53,000, and everything was set. But in February 2025, I got a call saying USPS wanted to cancel the renewal unless I agreed to do it for $35,000 instead, because rural carriers could do it for that price.
I refused — $35K is way too low to cover vehicle maintenance, fuel, insurance, and time. Then I found out USPS put the route back up for public bid without giving me any notice. The kicker? Rural carriers told me they couldn’t do it for that price either, yet USPS is still trying to rebid it for under $40,000.
No justification. Nothing in writing. I’m just a small business trying to provide consistent service and make a living. This feels like an abuse of power.
But I’d love to hear from anyone who’s dealt with this — or knows how to hold USPS accountable.
What can I do to fight back and protect my rights as a contractor?
Thanks in advance for any insight.

Work Discussion No hours on virtual time card
Just a quick question…is VTC showing 00.00 work hours because of the 2 begin times, or is it just acting stupid for everyone?
(I had 2 begin times because my freaking scanner froze on me while in the middle of clocking in)

Work Discussion Jury summoned on off-day, how will I get paid?
Just the wildest and most ironic thing ever. I applied for the jury summons some years back when I was new at the plant and dreamed of being selected but never did. Just received one yesterday and the scheduled day is on my off-day. Will I get paid by the post office or only get the courts daily stipends?
