The dog was like:" Ok, let me just stay here and see how long it will take him to notice."

It's like your kid start walking away, and you just wait to see how long they realize they are following the wrong person

u/Southernguy9763 3d ago

IT'S THAT A THING PARENTS DO?! I still have flashbacks to the time I followed the wrong mom around a target

179

u/KatokaMika 3d ago

When your child refuses to hold your hand and stay beside you, sometimes you need to do stuff like that. Obviously, the parent has to have always control of the situation, and usually, the child never goes thar far

79

u/Zebra_Shadow 2d ago

Or just leave the little shit and run the opposite direction

54

u/Jonsbe 2d ago

To get the milk, right?

25

u/Salt_Cranberry3087 2d ago

Scratchers and smokes!

u/NatNatMcree 2d ago

My mom would do that all the time growing up. If me or my brother got distracted and wandered off or looked at something for too long she would sneak away and hide and start sprinting down different aisles if one of us found her. Good times

I went to Disney when I was 7 and was obsessed with the paper maps they handed out. I stared at it almost the whole trip and I accidentally followed the wrong dad with a baseball cap, knee-high white socks, and khaki shorts. My parents didn’t stop and abandon me on purpose, but damn man those 30 seconds were scary for me and my parents. I can still see my mom’s face when she found me. She took the map from me and I was devastated.

u/DrCausti 3d ago

"eh, she will do"

u/Lithl 2d ago

I once grabbed a strange man's hand in an airport terminal, thinking he was my father.

In my defense, he was of similar height (read: much taller than me), and was wearing the same trenchcoat my dad was wearing that day.

16

u/ponchoacademy 2d ago

I once grabbed a strange childs hand at Disney. Was there with my son and bf, and we were waiting to get into something or another. The lights dimmed and I heard kiddo whisper "I'm scared!" So I reached over and held his hand all, "I'm here it's okay!"

A moment later the lights went back up, and the doors opened for us to go in... We start walking and my bf is all, uh who's child is that? I look and realize this isn't my kid, the people next to me look at me all confused, and my bf, who is holding my kiddos hand, starts laughing.

I was so mortified 😭😂

Thankfully the parents understood what happened, and cracked up.

Phone Zombie

u/_WeSellBlankets_ 3d ago

I don't even understand how this is possible. Like I get not being visually aware of your surroundings because of your phone, but it would be impossible for me not to notice that I'm dragging the leash. Even if I'm wearing headphones and oblivious to the sound there is added resistance.

50

u/Storm_COMING_later 2d ago

I have had this happened to me and my dog.. and you are just completely in your own world and my dogi was a dog that I had to half drag to get to walk and for some reason the leach dragging felt very similar to my dog when I was distracted.. did notice eventually but no idé how long she was free

12

u/anomalous_cowherd 2d ago

I had the opposite. One of my dogs trails along behind me and walks very nicely, the other two tend to be all over the place, pulling to the nearest good smell.

One time the good one slipped her collar but I didn't realise because she was walking along right behind me just like always. Once I realised I thought back and realised the last tug I felt from her lead was about a mile back...

Because right around :06 there is an edit in the video where someone obviously undid the harness. If you were doing it for Internet points I bet you could do a whole lot of dumb shit you can't imagine you would do accidentally.

17

u/AndrewInaTree 2d ago

That cut was just a zoom-in so we could see it better. The harness starts to fall off before that cut.

7

u/kratosgranola 2d ago

The dog accidentally steps into the inside of the harness, undoing the velcro/snaps/whatever holds it together

6

u/Rorsaur 2d ago

This plus one of ignorant dog walkers, a shocking amount of people attach a dog to a lead and think that's enough, they don't even need to look at them after that.

1

u/frunf1 2d ago

I agree. Most people do not train their dogs at all. The goal is that the dog basically needs no leash and still follows you

186

u/temporary-name93 3d ago

the sound alone from that thing draggin behind him. come on

72

u/milkygalaxy24 2d ago

The weight

2

u/rjnd2828 1d ago

Has headphones on for sure

2

u/makhay 1d ago

The guy has headphones on and he's staring at his phone. Probably scrolling through tiktok

172

u/brandonsp111 3d ago

It must be nice to live without functioning brain cells

52

u/ChildhoodProper1337 3d ago

What a good dog!!

22

u/your_mom_made_me 3d ago

The fucking dog with the “bruh” pose.

69

u/ReliableChoom 3d ago

I blame the man

15

u/posting_drunk_naked 2d ago

I agree!

Being distracted by the phone isn't going to prevent you from A) hearing the dragging, b) feeling the difference in weight and resistance, c) noticing the leash is never moving to the side or in front as dogs are oft to do.

He does notice once he looks up but, nah. This is by far fake.

68

u/Dayzlikethis 3d ago

either that guy is really stoned or this is fake.

59

u/MrHasuu 3d ago

This is def fake. As a dog owner you know when there's no weight on the end of that leash.

6

u/xaiires 3d ago

IIRC, it wasn't his dog. But who knows with so many reposts

1

u/audrina-saav 1d ago

Yup fake. Idk how so many people are falling for it.

25

u/KenUsimi 3d ago

Naw, dude was on their phone

6

u/max_nukem 2d ago

There is an obvious cut between when the dog stops and when the human proceeds.

1

u/Woo-Cash1900 2d ago

There is a cut but probably just to zoom in. I don't think it's made of two takes. But I think it's still fake. Everything in the internet is.

1

u/Cosmic_Quasar 1d ago

The cut is so that they could undo the harness so it just slids off, because the buckle of it is just out of frame below the stairs at that point making harder to notice.

1

u/Woo-Cash1900 1d ago

You may be right. I've checked it slowly now and it looks just like you say.

9

u/Puzzleheaded_Win2496 3d ago

That’s not a leash, that’s a negotiation.

3

u/Corpsepicker 3d ago

3

u/Kvarcov 3d ago

"Bring back something nice"

3

u/Bergtroepie 2d ago

Is the video clipping just as the harnass comes of a coincidence?

4

u/Randompersonomreddit 3d ago

The last where he started yelling the dogs name was cut off. That's the funniest part

2

u/mada010 3d ago

The dog started questioning his life choices

2

u/_Oops_I_Did_It_Again 2d ago

The way my heart would have fallen out of my ass

2

u/___dani 2d ago

The goodest pup said I’ll just wait right here for that idiot human of mine to notice

2

u/SopieMunkyy 3d ago

Good dog

2

u/MayContainRawNuts 3d ago

Dog has been well trained not to go on the road unless it's walking time.

His training had not prepared him for this moment.

1

u/Alternative-Dare5878 3d ago

So well behaved <3

1

u/El_Morgos 3d ago

That's why I don't like wearing hoods.

1

u/upickleweasel 3d ago

Taking the dog out for a stumble on a bender

1

u/SPIKE176 3d ago

0 awareness

1

u/CesareBach 3d ago

The dog is confused

1

u/fakenews_thankme 2d ago

The dog knows that this is not the first time he did it lol

1

u/PicaDiet 2d ago

Why is there an edit right where someone loosened the harness completely?

1

u/MisterWafflles 2d ago

A Nissan owner on their phone. Nothing new!

1

u/miletest 2d ago

I'd probably believe it more if it didn't perfectly time the discovery to just before he walked out of shot.

1

u/One_Introduction_217 2d ago

That dog got raptured from The guy's perspective.

1

u/Nixinthedix 2d ago

Best heckin' doggo

1

u/MrDaVernacular 2d ago

That dog was a good dog staying there.

1

u/andyman935 2d ago

Why are people so addicted to their phones? It's honestly getting scary how distracted people constantly are.

1

u/fejable 2d ago

the making of a terrible dad. wont bother to look back at your dog for a second

1

u/8tqz803 2d ago

Sure it's real, buddy.

1

u/YeetusMeridius 2d ago

It sounds like the dog had a cast thst had recently been removed, and this was the first walk minus cast so harness didnt fit dog it fit the cast.

1

u/kettle106 2d ago

Ahhh men

1

u/FrequencyBegins 2d ago

"Good Booooyy"

1

u/No_Media378 2d ago

Dude must be absolutely zooted

1

u/MaybeMaphew 2d ago

the dogs butt looks like a little dog face

1

u/a-random-duk 2d ago

This guy is actually an asshole though because the number one rule of dog walking is that you let the dog set the pace, for this exact reason.

1

u/IzzyDarkhart 2d ago

My dog would have kept following me as if was connected lol.

1

u/rancid_mayonnaise 2d ago

"testing how long it takes for my best friend to notice I'm gone!"

1

u/OG_Maars 2d ago

Him looking into the sky had me laughing like crazy

1

u/Thunder_breslin 2d ago

I'm calling shenanigans on this one, the change in sound and weight would be more than enough to make you aware.

1

u/StretchMotor8 2d ago

his little cute feet bops down the steps was so cute LOL

1

u/aryzkryz 2d ago

He got a new pet named vest

1

u/Soka59 2d ago

1

u/StanDan95 2d ago

Dog was like "Mission successful! Uhm.... What the fuck do I now?"

1

u/SubstantialLoquat291 1d ago

I couldn’t imagine being this unaware of my surroundings, I’m constantly worried about what’s going on around me

1

u/Maxpowers13 1d ago

Is there a cut right before the dog gets out of the thing? Staged I guess but wierd

1

u/k0skid 3d ago
