OP sent the following text as an explanation on why this is unexpected:

The speech is largely boring until the speaker suddenly gets hit with a paint bomb at the end

If you haven't watched the show (LOL, Last One Laughing, UK version), I thoroughly recommend it.

Can't remember the last time I laughed so hard.

10 top comedians trying real hard NOT to laugh

54

u/Joee0201 2d ago

If curious in the US it is on Amazon Prime

10

u/missannethropic12 2d ago

Thanks for answering my question before I could ask. I must watch this immediately!

5

u/ToonaSandWatch 2d ago

Couldn’t take the American one more than 2 episodes.

3

u/blindreefer 2d ago

I’ve only seen a few minutes of the Aussie and Canadian versions and wow they were bad

2

u/tijaya 2d ago

Have you seen the Japanese ones?

2

u/No-Function3409 2d ago

Lots of seppuku in that one?

1

u/Kirbykidx 1d ago

Documental is my favorite format of this.

2

u/Laura_Biden 1d ago

As an Aussie....yes.

1

u/Born-Network-7582 1h ago

I think it is hard to watch versions of other countries when you don't know the comedians and have no idea what to expect from them.

1

u/blindreefer 1h ago

I’ll buy that. Lots of countries have their own style of humor too. So maybe I’m just not getting it

1

u/Born-Network-7582 1h ago

Yes, this is true as well.

1

u/supercodes83 15h ago

There isn't an American one yet.

38

u/Zhouston63 2d ago

There were definitely some surprises in that show - knowing Bob and Richard were in the show though I knew I immediately had to watch it.

My friend and I binged it before going to see Nish Kumar live

15

u/trubol 2d ago

Yeah, Bob, Richard and Sara Pascoe.

How are they not gonna laugh? You just look at Bob and you wanna laugh.

What a great format. Hopefully they'll do lots more series

7

u/Hailstar07 2d ago

It originally started as a Japanese show called Documental which is also on prime I believe, and is completely unhinged and fantastic.

1

u/r1Rqc1vPeF 2d ago

I think there’s an Irish version and also Italian.

5

u/rep_13Blocks 2d ago

There's like 26 international versions on Amazon Prime

0

u/trubol 2d ago

Oh. And Judi Love. She's so fucking funny

10

u/BobTheFettt 2d ago

I watched the Canada one and it was great. I gotta watch the UK one, I know all of these people from taskmaster and Jimmy's other panels

8

u/duhvorced 2d ago

What I liked about this UK season is that the humor was pretty clean compared to other seasons in other countries. All 10 of the comedians on the show were amazing, and the quality of humor stayed top-notch throughout.

6

u/carmicheal 2d ago

I got a asthma attack from laughing too hard, worth it :)

3

u/OreoYip 2d ago

Thanks for the context. I was wondering why people were making weird faces. Watching it the second time makes it funnier.

2

u/[deleted] 2d ago

Oh man this looks good

2

u/LrdCheesterBear 2d ago

Seems like a more accessible version of Documental. Less long form, at least. I'll take a look. I've heard of it before but never given it a shot, but this clip was pretty good.

2

u/mtrueman 1d ago

My god, when Mortimer sat on that chair me and the wife lost it. Then ayoade walked back in and I nearly died from suffocation.

0

u/petrifiedwilly 2d ago

Should watch the Canadian one, this guy reminds me of Tom Greene. I’ll have to watch it

-14

u/LiGhTMaGiCk 2d ago

So did this bit make you laugh? I feel like he let it go on too long and they only started laughing in the clip almost out of pity. This is the most unfunny thing I think I've ever seen.

0

u/Cantarella702 19h ago

Joe Wilkinson is known for his deadpan, awkward delivery when talking about absurd things. I don't think this was one of his funniest bits, but yeah, he regularly makes me laugh. Sometimes with awkwardness alone - a lot of people laugh when they're uncomfortable.

55

u/Fuggins4U 2d ago

I have never seen Richard Ayoade this close to breaking before.

39

u/Life-Duty-965 2d ago

Bob Mortimer wave noises. I lost it.

I was hoping he'd do just one more well timed.

82

u/bsurfn2day 2d ago

Joe's many appearances on Count Down are absolutely hilarious. Such a funny guy.

45

u/dale_dug_a_hole 2d ago

Whenever I’m having a bad day I just watch his poem on cats do countdown. Maybe the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

42

u/INPUT_INPUT 2d ago

You’re welcome, I have just named your penis

38

u/dale_dug_a_hole 2d ago

Sean Locke in tears… “please stop” - all time.

21

u/Little_Blue_Shed 2d ago

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xvz4zqqlCiI for those who want to watch it again now

4

u/Willdiealonewithcats 2d ago

Thank you for sharing that. I will be using that poem to practice my calligraphy.

2

u/CptAlcoholicA 2d ago

My daughter came asking why i was laughing so hard. Difficult to explain!

6

u/alaorath 2d ago

9 out of 10 Cats does Countdown

Joe is a national treasure. Dead-pan delivery comedy gets me every time.

4

u/Mr_Menril 2d ago

Joe and Sean Locke were the 2 best repeat comedians on 9/10Cats for me.

3

u/kyledwray 2d ago

"You've got an erection in it you fucking idiot! I said don't have an erection!"

18

u/DonnieDarkoRabbit 2d ago

Son of a gun

Richard Ayoade supremacy!

9

u/SatansMoisture 2d ago

I have no idea what this is, but Richard Ayoade is there, so I'm in. What in the actual fuck did I just see?

6

u/squirtlesdaddy 2d ago

Lou Sanders was the biggest surprise for me. I didn't realise she was so funny. Joe's reaction to the butt wiggle had me in stitches.

25

u/xmichann 2d ago

We were laughing so hard at this part of the episode, he’s a genius

21

u/StevenMC19 2d ago

What show is this? I haven't seen this group together since Taskmaster or Countdown.

13

u/SpecialNeeds963 2d ago

Last One Laughing

2

u/StevenMC19 2d ago

Thank you!

3

u/SpecialNeeds963 2d ago

My pleasure!

7

u/merrychristmasyo 2d ago

Last One Laughing, it’s on Prime. Brilliant comedy, worth the watch and play along.

13

u/DBio616 2d ago

What's the source?

51

u/HightowersWorld 2d ago

Its from a show called Last One Laughing on Amazon Prime. 10 Comedians in a room together trying to make each other laugh without laughing themselves.

5

u/DBio616 2d ago

I figured, it was LOL, but the background seemed non-wacky.

Jesus, that's quite a lineup. In our LOL usually we have like two or three good comedians. I'll look it up, thanks!

2

u/PsyJak 2d ago

I mean it was certainly wacky.

0

u/8thTimeLucky 2d ago

I don’t think it’s sauce I think it’s just pink goo

11

u/Funmachine 2d ago

fuck the vertical crop

3

u/ToonaSandWatch 2d ago

As a Yank, I’d like to thank Taskmaster for helping me recognize most everyone in this room.

Richard being the outlier.

2

u/69FlirtySnow 2d ago

The sound of the sea, got me 😭

2

u/Ghost_of_Nellie_Fox 2d ago

I've never seen this show before now but it reminds me of the old Comedy Central show "Make Me Laugh" good stuff here!

2

u/Vandal_A 2d ago

If Sean Lock was still around...I can just imagine him and Bob dueling it out while everyone else has no chance

6

u/hazelnutterbutter 2d ago

I thought the unexpected bit was Joe Lycett’s body transformation… Good to see he’s been eating well.

8

u/Arpikarhu 2d ago

Oooh bitchy…..but true

1

u/LAJeepLife 2d ago

I was so shocked at this.

3

u/malloryjo13 2d ago

This show is absolutely hilarious, and one big Taskmaster reunion pretty much if you're a fan!

3

u/MagmaTroop 2d ago

Jimmy Carr’s face is getting hard to look at. I mean he really does not look right at all with the work he’s done.

2

u/just_some_onlooker 2d ago

I'm sorry I don't get it...

2

u/Specific-Morning-985 2d ago

Holy shit. I didn't know the made an Lol UK edition. The Og Japanese version was great but the Canadian one was kinda meh but this UK version has some really big names.

0

u/gilwendeg 2d ago

The Australian one is pure chaotic madness.

2

u/pauloss_palos 2d ago

I don't get this show. Are they giving the guest instructions to not be too funny? I know Joe is usually hilarious, but this just seems random.

2

u/merrychristmasyo 2d ago

This part was completely random, which Joe is known for. You need to watch the show to understand the context of the RNLI presentation though.

The point of the show is to make others laugh without making yourself laugh, so throughout the episodes you see the comedians back out of jokes, walk away from conversations and try to contain their smiles. That’s what makes the show, hearing random shit, whilst seeing them try to contain themselves from laughing at their own stuff.

If they laugh once, they receive a warning, but laugh twice and they are out.

2

u/ta11_kid 1d ago

I dont get it

2

u/Low-Repeat-8177 1d ago

This feels more awkward then funny tbh

4

u/CrazyScientist3754 2d ago

The unexpected part is how thoroughly unfunny this is

1

u/gwaaax 2d ago

I thought maybe I was having an aneurysm since everyone on this thread is pissing their pants at how this video is so funny and I just thought it was boring and stupid. And I have a high tolerance for boring and stupid things.

-1

u/Urschleim_in_Silicon 2d ago

I love humor and comedy and I also thought this was greatly unfunny.

1

u/lilmisssocks 1d ago

🍪🍪🍪 three should just about do it right?

1

u/NoTheOtherAC 2d ago

LET'S PLAY COUNTDOWN!

1

u/Torschlusspaniker 2d ago edited 2d ago

Fan of 9 out of 10 cats, QI and a good chunk of the shows they all go on but I can't into this show.

I feel like a fan of Taskmaster would be into this one.

1

u/kaiserlaika 2d ago

Honestly it’s worth watching this show just to watch Daisy May Cooper’s insane facial contortions as she tries not to laugh.

1

u/mr3machine 2d ago

The fuck is wrong with jimmy’s face

1

u/DrDosMucho 2d ago

So Dropout is just BBC comedy panels?

1

u/fishsalads 2d ago

I don't get it

1

u/BDGUCCII 2d ago

He could definitely play Osama bin Laden in a movie

1

u/sfjo13 1d ago

if jesus and david guetta got a kid

1

u/CaptainPerhaps 1d ago

I love how Harriet looks like she’s almost in pain. The faces they pull while trying not to smile are hilarious.

1

u/Laura_Biden 1d ago

Carr lost it at the end 😂

1

u/pjandjelly2 1d ago

This show was the best!!!!!

1

u/lonelygalexy 1d ago

I know most of them from Taskmaster lol

1

u/cerealkiller788 19h ago

How could anyone find this funny?

1

u/DJ_Gordon_Bombay 2d ago

Is Jimmy Carr ill? He looks way different

2

u/dannidoesreddit 2d ago

Just a lot of surgery

-1

u/Fair_Blood3176 2d ago

Totally unexpected that

-6

u/Busy_Reputation7254 2d ago

That was comedy?

-26

u/sykaskraabljat 2d ago

This was painfully unfunny

-9

u/Federal_Designer4002 2d ago

That was a pain to watch. The dude talks too slowly. Not worth the 2 minutes I spent watching it. 1/10

-53

u/Gloomy-Restaurant-42 2d ago

This video does NOTHING to boost my opinion of Jimmy Carr's sense of humor.

12

u/dale_dug_a_hole 2d ago

Didn’t it u/Gloomy-Restaurant-42? Can we get you a cup of tea?

1

u/ashleton 2d ago

Better get them a scone, too

3

u/HermesOnToast 2d ago

It's pronounced scone

-4

u/Gnarles_Charkley 2d ago

Did they give everyone peanut butter before this or something?

-61

u/aibot776567 2d ago

Last 5 years of the RNLI has been a taxi service for those who shall not be named.

19

u/Otherwise-Extreme-68 2d ago

No. They rescue people who's lives are in danger, just like every other emergency service, and rightly so. It's not theor place to discriminate or get involved in politics, the people of the RNLI risk their lives on a voluntary basis to save others, and demand far more respect than having people like you using them to make a political point.

10

u/Kungfubobby 2d ago

Name them, you said nearly all of it so name them.

4

u/R7ype 2d ago

It must be fucking exhausting being this miserable

2

u/Klewdo1 2d ago

Switch it off mate, sometimes you can let things go without seeing them as an opportunity to spout your daily mail opinions!
