UPDATE He believes that the murderer knew the family
Simon Suppiah a Singaporean retired police officer believes that the perpetrator of the 1979 unsolved Geylang Bahru murders in Singapore was someone who knew the family. He said "all I could say is it might have been done by someone maybe known to the parents. No stranger would just go into the house and hack a bunch of kids and then bar them up at the toilet". Many people agree with him because the door of the house didn't have any signs of forced entry which means that the victims knew the murderer. The parents received a card with a taunting message written by the murderer. In the card, the murderer mentioned the nicknames of the murdered kids and even have pictures of them. This led to many people including the authorities to believe that the murderer could indeed be someone known to the family. The biggest theory is "uncle found out that the parents of the kids kept the lottery winnings for themselves when they should have gave it to him instead. He knew the kids will open the door for him because he had always been visiting them to borrow their phone so he decided to go to their house when their parents are at work because he knew he will have an opportunity to murder all of the kids". The taxi driver identified the suspicious passenger as uncle so the police kept uncle in custody but released him 2 weeks later due to lack of evidence and the possibility of misidentification. According to the taxi driver, the suspicious passenger came into his taxi and was trying to hide a knife covered with blood even his shirt was covered with blood after the time of the murders. Many people in the apartment block moved out and the block was demolished and rebuilt. In 2022, a show titled "Inside Crime Scene" recreated the events. In the show, I noticed the murderer and uncle wearing the same dark colored t-shirt even though both of them were played by different actors even the scene where a suspicious passenger enters a taxi was also played by a different actor. In the scene, the suspicious passenger was wearing a red shirt with grey jacket. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geylang_Bahru_family_murders
