For context, it's a Sharp Showview VC-M31

Maybe not a huge score, but I figured it was a nice start to yet another thing to collect 🤷‍♂️

Visited family today and asked to go through the old tapes. After getting them all together, my mom told me to take them home so my kids can watch them now. Very grateful and it will be cool to show my boys some of the tapes my siblings and I wore out as kids. Today was a good day.

I loved this show when I was younger so as soon as I saw it I snatched it up!

What blew me away is that the controller still works.

Facebook marketplace, 2 big boxes of rentabel vhs stuff, most of them are action and horror. Some clamshells, some cool so bad they are good movies (Captain America 😎), Cabal, Killer Klowns from outer Space, The Fly. Even the Ring vhs releases I have been searching for a long time (vhs was rentabel only), the Japanese Laserdisc is easier to find, were in there. Some of them are censored versions as expected from German vhs releases but that's ok.

Best of all: the smell of cold smoke, like in the shady rental store back then.

Got all of these today.

It turns off once it lets go of the tape and when i turn it on again it ejects without putting the tape back in.

Hi everyone, I have a Panasonic NV-H70 VHS VCR that recently stopped working properly. When I insert a tape, the VCR detects it and I can hear the motor spinning, but the loading mechanism doesn’t engage — the carriage just won’t drop or pull the cassette in.

It seems like something mechanical isn’t catching or triggering properly, but the motor is clearly active. Has anyone dealt with a similar issue? What could be the cause — belts, gears, sensors?

Also, if anyone knows a good technician (especially in [Europe, but I can ship to any country]) who’s experienced and willing to work on these older machines, I’d be super grateful for a recommendation. I’d really love to get this unit running again.
