Showcase Don’t Panic!

This, other than some great advice, is the 1955 Hamilton Surf. This was basically a one year model because it underwent radical changes in 1956. Only the case remained the same. This one has 18k gold numerals plated with rhodium to appear white. To me it looks like a fancy field watch.

Also, bonus info, at certain times of the day the hands line up to seem like a cat’s eyes.

Picked up my KFA a little while ago and almost immediately spotted this little vintage beauty. Wanting a very discreet dress watch for occasional use, it seemed to fit the bill nicely.

No idea of a identification name so apologies for not being the most clued up. I just really like it.

This is Hamilton’s first “Strap Watch For Men.”

The year is 1919 and the works are a zero size pocket watch caliber. The first wrist watches Hamilton made, this Cushion and a Round one, are a good deal larger than the 20’s-40’s. The size is approximately 31 mm across, by 36 mm lug to lug. This is a sizable piece. The next generation of Cushion shapes were 27 mm across, for example. This one is being taken in for a service today. It’s a truly beautiful watch, and for 126 years old, it’s in stellar condition.

I made myself a green crocodile strap for Saint Patty’s Day, but have not got around to posting about it until now. But, it’s still March. 🤷🏽‍♂️🍀 It’s on a Hamilton Tonneau from I believe the 1920’s. What do you think?

Showcase Camille Fournet for grandfather’s Hamilton

Do you have a watch in your collection that holds so much sentimental value it transcends its monetary worth? For me, it’s my grandfather’s Hamilton Austin from 1949. He wore it for 74 years, and at the age of 96, he passed it down to me.

I had it serviced and wear it biweekly. I’ve been fortunate in life to afford some “higher horology” pieces, but let’s just say—if the house ever caught fire and I could only save one watch, without hesitation, it would be this one.

I finally decided to have a custom strap commissioned from Camille Fournet, complete with an original, period-correct Hamilton buckle. It’s alligator leather in a Patina Coffee Bean color with matching stitching and quick-release spring bars. In person, it looks and feels amazing! Apologies for the bad lighting in the video. I’ll post photos in the comments.
