Public encouraged to provide input on projects that are recommended for funding
The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) will host nine meetings across Virginia and is inviting the public to share feedback on transportation projects that have been recommended for funding, as well as other transportation initiatives. Members of the community may participate by attending public meetings or submitting comments online, by email or by mail.
The public will have an opportunity to learn and share feedback about:
The Draft Fiscal Year (FY) 2026-2031 Six-Year Improvement Program (SYIP), which allocates public funds to highway, road, bridge, rail, bicycle, pedestrian, public transportation, and transportation demand management projects. The Draft FY 2026-2031 SYIP identifies projects proposed for inclusion in the final program, which will be before the CTB at its June meeting. All federally eligible projects in the SYIP will be included in the federally required Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) to document how Virginia will obligate its federal funds. The Draft FY 2026-2031SYIP includes projects recommended for funding in the following programs:
Comments will also be accepted for new projects valued at more than $25 million.
The public meetings are scheduled in each of the locations at 4 p.m., except as noted below:
You can also submit your comments via online form, email or mail by May 21, 2025:

I was truly surprised. I thought I was going to have it shoved in my face at every turn. Not so much as a red hat.
Maybe things are losing their shine, but... this is Trumpland. Very weird.

great energy, enthusiasm, and TONS of people of all ages showed up and marched from the capitol building bell tower to monroe park despite the notorious haze of richmond tree pollen:)

Basically title. I'm in Williamsburg right now and I have NEVER seen this much pollen in my life. I've never even SEEN pollen. Why is everything yellow??? Why is the sky yellow? The roads? The cars? The WATER?? I'm not allergic at all, but WOW it's shocking. This must be what it feels like to see snow for the first time.

Looking for a nice place to car camp in the DMV, preferably within a 1.5 hr drive of DC. Going with some novice/first-time campers, so brick & mortar bathrooms would be great. Somewhere along a river or lake where kayak rentals are available would be awesome though not a requirement. Brunswick Family Campground seemed great until I did some digging and learned it's very close to a trainyard and the trains run loudly all through the night. Hoping for some place more quiet/serene than that. I know I'm asking for a lot, but would appreciate any recommendations! TIA

Help! This has been bugging me since yesterday. I am located in Northern Virginia and my family and I were fishing at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax County around 10am. There were all sorts of birds out floating and flying around including cormorants, a great blue heron and more than enough Canadian geese, we even saw a bald eagle catch a fish, it was absolutely incredible. However, 3 or 4 times we heard what sounded like an elk or moose bugle. My husband and I looked at each other with utter confusion as we are unaware of either of those species in VA lol so please what could possibly be making a bugle sound on NOVA?

One of my favorite organizations doing some amazing archival work across the South shared this and I’m boosting it here for all of you! Your presence matters, your voice matters, and so does the history you’re making.
Please take time to archive your protest materials. That includes photos, videos, signs, flyers, chants, anything you created or captured. These moments deserve to be remembered, studied, & honored.
