EMBROIDERY Alternative mending

I learned how to embroider and darn this past year, decided my work pants need a ruler. I know this isn't darning. Or mending. But all the stuff came out of the same bag...

And yes, these pants are fresh out of the wash. The MANY stains are from things like liquid nails, caulk, probably some motor oil and paint... they're my go-to work pants 😀

Whenever I need to measure small things I never seem to have a tape measure handy. Fixed it!

This is functional embroidery, and my only caution is to measure it again after you send it through the wash cycle because they dryer might not keep it’s measurements true, otherwise this is absolutely incredible!

Is that less likely to be a problem if I did this on, say, a canvas tote bag that doesn’t get washed often if ever? Or would that still probably change due to temperature/rain/etc.?

If you preshrink it, it will likely be more true than if you did it prior to laundering. It’s the kind of thing you use where a little slop is ok, but I wouldn’t use it for cutting things on the final measure unless I was only using that ruler for the entire project.

That’s really helpful, thank you! 🫶

You can always recheck it over time and see if it’s still accurate or not. And weaves with hold up better than knits.
