Wow this looks so good! You must be so pleased with how it came out. I love how you’ve done the lettering

Thank you! I am very happy with it - I think I like it more now than before the fading.

Boo for merch that washes out.

Edit: If you see this, Mythical Kitchen crew, I love y’all! You’re my go to every Tuesday and Thursday. But it would be rad if you changed this to be more wash resistant.

This is at least partially my fault - I didn't read the instructions and washed it with the rest of my kitchen stuff, which goes into hot wash. The apron care instructions say it has to be cold washed.

Hey, to be fair to you it could be easily expected that you should wash kitchen textiles hot.

True enough you don’t wipe surfaces or dishes with an apron (and shouldn’t wipe your hands on them), so it’s less pertinent they be thoroughly disinfected than something like a dishtowel.

…But aprons are still subject to a whole manner of nasty stains and foody substances. You should be able to wash them hot!

At least with your lovely mend you know that you can wash your apron thoroughly without the design disappearing, though you might want to consider placing it into a pillow case or delicates bag to help protect your careful stitching.

Reminds of his Holiest, all bless his noodly appendage. He boiled for our sins.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster! Kids these days know not of his wonders!

By hand? Wow!!!

Yep! All hand stitched following the lines left behind by the original design.

Did you boil the thread for safety?

u/jkjwysa Feb 13 '25

I've never heard of this, why?

22

u/operahermit Feb 13 '25

It's a reference to Good Mythical Morning, which is what spun off Mythical Kitchen, which sold this apron.

u/jkjwysa Feb 13 '25

Oh got it! I'm too casual a viewer to know all the lore

In the early days before Mythical Chef Josh, Rhett & Link would eat weird things that had just been "boiled for safety." They still mention it every once in a while, but if you don't watch it religiously it's tricky to catch!

This is the way! And now I need a FSM apron.

Is this by chance…a Flying Spaghetti Monster?!

5

u/gloveonafoot Feb 14 '25

It's Cape-Lenny, the Pastapuss. I imagine he's a cousin of the FSM, though!
