Alright peeps, time to sit down and have a talk I never thought I'd have to have

1.1k Upvotes

First of all if I come off as annoyed I apologize, but I am, I'm sick as shit and tired as shit. So apologies in advance.

Second, I'm blown away by how this community has expanded and evolved, looking at this sub, I'd never recognize it from its humble beginnings, and I'm okay with it, I created this sub to celebrate the well worn and you folks have taken it and ran with it, and it's awesome, I see the most unexpected coolest things. That said, the statue posts bug me, but the upvotes indicate you all like them, so they stay, for now.

Now on to the meat and potatoes. We're a super hands off mod team, probably a little too hands off for some peoples liking. We remove very little, obvious junk and spam, and have only banned three or four people. One being a troll, the rest spammers. Today we added to that.

Going forward, as an addendum to rule 5, there will be zero tolerance for begging, asking, insinuating want for, private messaging, so on and so on, for used and free stuff. (the side bar won't be updated because I have no idea if our css guy is alive and I'll just break it). Here at /r/wellworn we don't judge your ahem preferences, like what you want, how you want, when you want. But being creepy as fuck on this sub or through PMs is sure as hell not the right way to do it.

This is unfortunately not an isolated case, we've had reports of this being done by a few users. This is the only warning, there will be a one month Insta ban for your first violation, permanent for your next.

There are plenty of subs where you can buy all that kinda stuff, from A-Z, from willing participants. (no I'm not looking them up for you).

Please be liberal with the report button I'd you see it and if you get pmd with one of these requests please send a mod mail with the /u/ so they can be banned.

There will be one, and only one exception, if it's a truly rare case like "my mom gave me one of these as a kid but I lost it and she just died" , or I'm a legitimate museum curator or something of that sort, please mod mail us first with the post in question.

That said, if you are truly in need, need some gear to get you that first job to get a leg up, I have a not /r/wellworn pair of size 10 steel toes, extra wallets, belts, maybe even a hard hat and coveralls, or most other stuff that gets posted on here regularly that costs money that's needed for employment, that I'd be more than happy to send you for free (within reason, shipping across the oven is expensive) pm me privately and we'll figure out some sort of verification to ensure that it's going to the right person.

Asides from that, stay frosty peeps, don't be pervs.

Hi! Welcome! Since the rules don't seem to show up on new Reddit, please take a moment to gander at the rules.

Rules: 1.Don't be a dick. The very nature of the sub means people have had their items for a lengthy period of time. They may not be anything special to you, but to the OP, they can hold a substantial significance. Well you may not agree with what it is, for whatever reason, but please keep it to yourself. If you think that it's offensive for one reason or another, report it, and the mods will take a look.

2.Don't police what is or is not "well worn". Different people have different definitions of what it means to them, and that's okay!

3.Please try to leave a description in the comments. You all have some awesome things, and we want to know more and foster a discussion. Well we know sometimes it's not possible due to the nature of the sub and it's content, but we do encourage it.

4.No NSFW/NSFL posts. We all like looking at attractive people in well fitting clothes, but there is a thousand GW subs to fit every style and taste, please take your posts there. It should go without saying this includes blood and gore.

5.No selling or referral links. If you work out a deal through pm, we are NOT responsible for anything that happens. Buying and selling is not permitted here, and there is more than likely a subreddit to buy or sell what you are looking for. Links to a place where a product is for sale are okay, as long as there are no referral links.

6.Web content is encouraged! Feel free to post your Web finds, but please post where you found it, in the comments, unless it leads to a potentially NSFW website. Everyone likes getting credit for their work and their things.

7.No digital content. Sorry.

8.We love old vehicles, but please use your discretion. We don't want to see your rusted Civic on the way to the junk yard. We do want to see your well maintained old trucks and cars that are still running and cared for.

9.Posts about shoes or any kind of footwear are only allowed on Fridays. All posts about footwear are automatically removed. If its a friday and your post got removed kindly message the mods.

Repeat offenders will be banned.

My old Spongebob blanket I have since I was a preemie baby (I was born in April 2004, will be 21 this month). Been through a lot with me, survived lot of moves, lost it a few times, took it with me on road trips once or twice, and even survived a house fire. Still have it to this day.

I had this blanket right after I was prematurely born in the afternoon of April 23rd, 2004, dunno who gave it to me though, I'll have to ask my mom about it, but it's one of my prized possessions and I'm highly sure I was probably watching cartoons in my early days of existing with this very blanket. And I think this is evidence that SB is already engrained into my family's lives way before I was even born. It's really been through a lot: I lost it once or twice and fortunately found it, survived a house fire eight years ago, I turned it into a poncho thanks to the Dollars trilogy I've been seeing, been through several moves to several different houses, and I even took it with me on a road trips a few times. I still have it to this day. Wouldn't trade it for anything else.

My bicycle's stand is slightly in the way of the pedal, so it slowly grinded a small part of it away

Rusted and oxidized to all hell. I'm not sure when it was last changed and it was a bitch to get off since the screws were badly rusted. One of the plastic pieces holding the screw to the seat ended up breaking off completely, which helped me get the seat off.
