If Kamala Harris was President and the stock market were tanking this bad, Trump and every Republican in the country would be demanding her impeachment
I know this is borderline snobby but hearing some of them try to talk about the potential wine/champagne tariffs was painful. They just don’t know how anything works and they’re proud
They are also willing to look up and say the sky is green if their dear leader say so. I asked one to do the Elon salute in public if that wasn’t a nazi salute. And out comes the narcissist playbook. It was that. If it was it wasn’t that bad. They see with their eyes but have the ability to lie to themselves because of fear and identity politics. There is no hope for them. If they are okay with that then they are okay with far worse things.
I think a big part of the problem is the "greatest country" mentality. Every good country's citizens are aware of its biggest problems instead of just saying "YeAh bUt fReEdOm".
I used to find it poor form to make fun of obviously dumb people, but at this point, it should be called out in their face. I'm actually surprised the MAGA faithful are still alive and walking around, considering they are brain-dead. It's truly bizarre that the US empire will fall because a bunch of imbeciles decided to elect THE Village Idiot as their president.
I think it's worse than willful ignorance. They are purposefully misinformed. They're literally going out of their way to put lies and propaganda into their empty skulls because that's what makes them feel good. They also go out of their way to steer clear of inconvenient things like truth, science, historically accurate facts, etc, because they just don't vibe with them.
someone with a decade in mRNA boosting platforms who lived through the pandemic and still to this day has siblings that genuinely think a non-self-amplifying mRNA can reverse transcribe and transposition itself into DNA, thereby taking a dump on the entire Central Dogma of Biology
Well Trump and his party have brainwashed their voters into thinking that everyone is the enemy. That they live in the richest nation in the world is forgotten. Maybe if they had a few brain cells more they would see the corporations and billionaires as enemies and not thy neighbours
And if you were a moving spherical human with evenly distributed electrical charge and if they were fat enough to produce a uniform magnetic field in your general direction, you'd start going in circles. You'd be going around in a circumference, probably very fast.
But we'd need a very, very fat maga chud high as fuck on the republican bullshit. And they'd need to be flat and wide too, I think. Yeah.
Yup, just going into the conservative sub is like stepping into an alternate reality where they just decide what is or isn't true based on whatever Trump says/does.
Sleepy Joe was a tyrant and a dictator whenever he did anything via EOs, but Trump illegally fired federal employees and cut funding to entire departments by circumventing Congress/unions and somehow now the judges blocking this are the tyrants.
That sub is another vessel just like Fox News and all the other social media groups. It's a literal coordinated effort to spread the narrative that the party wants adopted.
You can watch things happen in real time. Something crazy will happen and conservative and other groups will have a ton of questions and some diversity of comments.
Within a few hours every group is parroting the same exact talking points and the comments begin to align with those talking points or they're removed.
Jesse Waters literally said it about 2 weeks ago on Fox.
They are waging Information warfare with the left, someone tweets something, Elon retweets it, Rogan podcasts it, Fox broadcasts it and before you know it it's reached millions, it free money.
Its a subconcious hive mentality. Essentialy is deathdriven at its core. Like a grudge for life at its fundamentals, and the bitterness of beeing alive, and the willingness to end life for others, if it just relieves ones own suffering.
This is hyperbolic and you know it. A black and white view of the world like this doesn't serve anyone, and I sincerely believe the Democratic party will lose again in 4 years if you guys keep parroting this sentiment. People vote for the party that represents what they believe their interests and ideals are. If you can't recognize that and see it through a child's lens of "They just repeat what they hear on FOX News and are too stupid to think" then people are going to rightly make fun of you.
Enjoy 5000 upvotes though because of the epic Reddit circle jerk
And then they tell us that we are sheep and we only listen to mainstream media. And then when you ask them for a source they say "do your own research". Straight up cult.
to many. the economy is a reflection of the stock market. which it isnt if u had any clue about economics. most people actually dont care if the stock goes up or down. what they care about is food and living costs going up or down. which some think it is the stock market
We get it. You hate republicans/maga/conservatives. Please, I’m begging, come up with original insults. I feel like y’all just have these same insults saved and they are pasted in every sub. I welcome all criticism but please don’t be lazy and please please please be funny.
You know the other side thinks exactly the same thing thing about you (swap fox with MSNBC and Facebook groups with Reddit) and it makes you a brainlet to not realize this?
Fox News literally had to pay almost a billion dollars for lying about the last election. Their own lawyers say that no reasonable person would believe that most of the programming counts as news.
Someone is objectively more right and it's not the folks praising and twice impeached felon who spends half his time golfing and the other half embarrassing our country and the world's stage...
It's so "odd". Do you want to get into the hundreds of claims from the right that the left MSM is brainwashing propaganda? They have tons of evidence too, your side isn't original sweetie.
You sound so cringe bringing up a libel lawsuit without any context like it's a slam dunk to justify your media is more credible than the other sides media. Your "buuuut fox news" comments are on par or worse to the people on the right you hate commenting on the MSM fake news.
I have faith you can do research or use chatgpt to find hundreds of examples of left media doing the same or worse. For example, spreading the Russian hoax for years. Get out of your comfort zone for one, you one track minded brainlet.
Everyone knows this, but it's a false equivalence. It's just another example of a situation that cannot be resolved because we live in a post-fact world.
One side respects the scientific method and it's institutions. Glad I could clear that up for you buddy. Btw using "Brainlet" is outing yourself as a (man)child
Obviously it was a broad generalization, but when the leading edge of current conservative discourse is nothing but abject lies and objective falsehoods, it's more reasonable than not.
To wit...WH Press Secretary loudly proclaims blatant falsehoods about tariffs...Trump takes credit for the stock market going up for months, initiates a reckless trade war to cause an immediate and significant decline, then turns around and blames it on Biden...
I yearn for the days where facts were accepted and solutions to relevant problems were debated from different points of view. Now "facts" are nothing more than slaves to feelings
They literally do. I can turn on Fox News any given night and fact check til I got carpal tunnel. I used to be more understanding of republican arguments, but now almost none of it is based in reality.
And, I’m sorry man, but Donald Trump can not tell the Truth to save his life. It’s hard to listen to because he’s a lying machine gunner
They don’t understand argument or reasoning, it’s no different to fighting to them. They’re not trying to convince or understand, just win.
You can’t engage in true discourse because they are not interested in reality or logic. Just feelings.
Notice it’s impossible for them to rebut a point without name calling or petty insults.
That’s their version of a sound counter-argument.
It actually makes them feel clever to throw in a sweetie or brainlet.
Well, if republicans didn't go on tv to tell America that truth isn't truth, that they have alternative facts, and getting disbarred for lying in courts about how an election was stolen from them, and putting up pedophile frauds as smoking gun proof of said election stealing, then you might have a point.
They also say to not believe what you're seeing or hearing. Can't go trust your lyin' eyes amirite? lol
Oh and how they lie about what tariffs even are. Their White House spokeswoman is getting bodied and humiliated by the press lmao.
You need to go outside. You're getting enraged by politics which is the whole point on both sides, so that publications can keep you hooked and get more ad revenue. Also most of what you said the right can say about the left. The rest is strawmanning your ideological opposition and negatively stereotyping about 50% of the US population. If you were to characterize this way most other groups, you'd be a bigot.
Except a lot of us get our news from actual reputable sources. I'd love to meet some conservatives that regularly read the associated press and watch CSPAN, lol.
My mom and I are doing a thing right now where she listens to NPR for two weeks and I listen to whatever she usually listens to for two weeks, so I've been listening to / watching "The Drilldown" and it's incredibly low quality journalism.
Like you can pretty much ignore the actual content - like whether or not you agree with what they're saying - and just look specifically at:
The types of arguments they make
The number of claims they make where they cite no evidence
The amount of hypotheticals and speculation (there's a fuck ton)
The quality and frequency of guests
The accuracy of their interpretation of the sources they do cite
The amount of very carefully interwoven anti-libel question marks and "if" statements
The very VERY obvious conflict of interest where they basically only talk about stuff related to the books they are selling
And then you can also go way back in time watching old episodes and see how well their positions have aged. A lot of the time they have not aged well.
When you have actual, factual reporting, that shit doesn't age at all, because facts don't change over time.
So when you come at us with the whole "Well we think the same about you" retort I think it's important to understand that I'm not forming my opinion based on nothing, here. This is fairly easy to measure out in an objective way.
How interesting, I did something similar with my step mom and AM radio vs NPR, the lack of honesty and the blatant propoganda on AM radio was startling even back in the early 2000's when we did that.
Edit: Just going to point out one of the biggest differences that was apparent nearly immediately, which was NPR admitting they had made a mistake in an earlier segment and apologizing for the error, something that would have to be forced by a lawsuit on AM radio and be months or years later.
The biggest thing I realized is that on NPR (really, my local member station, not NPR directly) there's way more programming diversity. I just get news interspersed between Maine Calling, Folk Alley, Wait wait - Don't tell me, kelly Corrigan wonders, LATW, TED, marketplace, etcetera. It's not like solid news programming all the time.
With this podcast it's just 100% politics - but not even in general, it's like 100% politics that align with the books written and sold by the host of the program - that is, huge emphasis on biden and clinton.
Surprisingly little about obama, weirdly enough but I don't think he has a book about obama, so I guess that checks out.
I'm never going to hear a story about giraffe socialization on these programs.
Edit: also I have no clue why the stock market is in free fall either, and I probably wouldn't even know that it was in free fall if I were actually only listening to this podcast.
I'm just commenting on the fact that your reply to my comment was ridiculously reductive, inaccurate, and emblematic of right wing political commentary, as exemplified by the host of "The Drilldown" podcast I mentioned in the comment you replied to.
Well it depends on what you consider to be left wing political commentary. I don't really get into editorialized news, especially editorialized news that has an apparent lean, so my experience is rather limited, but I know in the past I have seen some pretty silly shit come out of an org called "Occupy Democrats". Usually the trope is some leading republican says some dumb shit, and they take the dumb shit, misinterpret it as much as humanly possible, and turn it into even dumber shit which defies all credibility.
It's kind of the same confirmation bias clickbait that you see from highly partisan right wing news orgs, but it's harmful in a different way in that it undermines the creditibility of those who engage with it, and it distracts from the actual problematic shit that is happening.
I generally avoid orgs like CNN for that reason, I think their journalism is pretty dubious quality. I've avoided MSNBC but not for any particular reason, I just generally find what I need through AP, politico, NYT, the BBC, NPR News and others when I need to cross reference information. Of course you can't beat CSPAN when it comes to watching shit unfold yourself after you hear about it in the news.
Editorializing can be interesting and useful but, in general, if your primary "news" sources are providing opinion, speculation, and commentary beyond the factual information that was collected by journalists, you're probably not getting the healthiest news experience.
With access to the internet, people are actually capable of doing their own little micro-journalism, which is great if you ever suspect you might be getting the slanted end of the stick on a particular story. It's not too hard to find the facts - and when it is hard, that's usually an indication that the original source either has some kind of exclusive access or is doing sketchy journalism. Depends on the reputation of the org.
Doing some quick research online I actually think Occupy Democrats is like - defunct or something? Used to be a big thing back when bernie was running for the presidential nomination, saw their shitty headlines on the front page of reddit too often.
Ultimately the best experience to be had is to just train yourself to recognize classic opinionated and emotionally charged language, avoid it, and when it can't be avoided, check multiple sources. There are also quite a few organizations out there that do reliability and bias ratings for various orgs, so you can cross reference with those too. I often have to do that when I see something pop up on reddit from a news organization I haven't heard of before.
The part that fucks with me is that this is what my mom RECOMMENDED. She could have chosen anything for me to listen to for two weeks and she chose that.
Some of the episodes are just thinly veiled infomercials for his books or books he's done work on.
Oh, I was talking about the republican who is trying to do the "both sides" defense of republican failure and embarrassment. He even went and responded to you perfectly illustrating your point about how low information and low brow republicans and their media are.
Ohhh, I understand now. You'll have to forgive me, "moldy dildo" doesn't really narrow it down at all :D
The lack of self awareness or whatever is so vexxing. Like, you should be embarrassed by this but you're like... proud? My favorite example (I hate it) is when people respond to someone's well thought out comment with "I'm not reading that" as though that's not one of the most pathetic and emblematic behaviours of the right.
Ha, yea it's fitting for most of them, so it's a bad identifier lol. Yes, that's the craziest part of it all to me; the insane over confidence in everything they say no matter how absurd or embarrassing it is. And if you manage to overcome their pathetically poor propaganda and are backing them into a corner with facts and reason, they just shut down and pivot to "trolling", which is nothing more than acting like a shitty kid who needs to be set straight with words or a paddle.
They are juvenile kids who think pissing other people off makes them cool and right. It's teenage rebellion against their parents on a political level.
It's like pissing and pooping your pants and then running around spreading it on everybody and thinking that's the coolest thing ever when it should get you put in a straight jacket. I really think at some level it's become a mental illness for many of them.
Having family that's like this, it legit is a mental health thing. My mom was kinda coerced into her marriage with my dad when she was in her twenties and rhe emotional and verbal abuse she suffered for the 10-15 years they were married eventually drove her suicidal and she ended up in the hospital for weeks until she was prescribed some rather intense antidepressants and anti anxiety meds.
She eventually got divorced but her next relationship, while not abusive at all, was just kinda lackluster. My stepdad passed away last year and at some point my mom and I were talking and she said she felt guilty for not being more sad.
Anyway, point is, all my own experience with discomfort, trauma, etc has lead me to understand how strong of a relationship there is between how mentally safe / secure / resilient you feel and how much you want things to change. The less resilient you are, the more you want shit to be absolutely unchanging.
It doesn't make you stupid. But it makes yoy act stupid, because you're being driven by an emotional imperative rather than some overarching philosophy.
Hence, conservatism.
Not to say that all change is good, but inflexible dogmatic commitment to the status quo is pretty much always bad.
The point your pushing is easily proven incorrect by taking a quick perusing of r/Conservative and watching them call each other brigaders and false flag "conservatives" and dumb libs for daring to question even a single thing trump has done.
Even the conservatives who finally break from their herd of sheep to voice the mildest of criticisms have to prove their loyalty to the trump tribe by saying how they are 3 time trump voters that agree with every single other thing trump has said and done, and they still get treated like enemies in disguise lol.
I've seen some of them go crazy and say that if a conservative didn't vote 3 times for trump then they are fake conservatives. I've seen some say that if a conservative doesn't support everything trump does, then they aren't really conservative and are actually traitors to the cause.
I don't think you'd find anything like that with the liberals lol. They're famous for constant infighting, criticizing their own party and people, and giving actual consequences to their members when they are found to be corrupt or commit crimes.
They certainly don't take and extreme and vehement stance in support of the legal system committing egregious injustices against Americans, going so far as to virtue signal how much they support law enforcement and the legal system as being paragons of justice, honor, duty, and patriotism, and then turn on a dime and say how rigged, corrupt, and weaponized that exact same system is against their Dear Leader and traitors from their tribe when it applies the law to them.
Shoot, you won't even find traitors like the Jan 6th insurrectionists on the Democratic side.
And then trump pardoned them all, including the Proud Boys leader who was serving 22 years for sedition against the US. Full blown treason is about the only crime that's worse that sedition.
And trump pardoned them to the cheers of republicans.
Holy wall of text. You know you're an online stranger to me with no credibility or reputation for me to read it and then write a response to all of that right? I'm not reading all that, a person with intelligence and wit would be more succinct to engage the interlocutor in a better way. So, "didn't read lol".
Do you feel it’s the same way with CNN and democrats as well though? People pick a side and stick through it until the end, the two party system has proven to be a failure. Hasn’t it?
There's a wealth of opinions on the left which is exactly why they struggle to compete with the right who force everyone to agree with the party or they're shunned.
The left has a lot of problems but the base acting like a brain dead cult is not one of them.
People who joined the cult feel like they must stay in it because they feel persecuted by Hillary when they were called deplorable. I don't understand why that was such a big deal, but people wore deplorable shirts, and became united. Now nothing they do is deplorable.
Yea, I've bookmarked a imgur post that has a bunch of polls and graphs showing that republicans judge actions based on who is doing them whereas democrats judge the actions or policies based on what they are.
Republican voters doing a 6 point or 6% swing from 22% support for drone strikes in Syria when done under Obama, to a 86% support when done under trump really shows just how disgustingly sheepish and tribal they are.
Democrats actually speak out when their politicians do shitty things. Look at all the democrats shitting on Schumer now. Trump can do no wrong to the cult, top comments in the conservative subs that criticize Trump get removed.
I find it mind boggling how they shot themselves on the foot by having Biden drop out so late to replaced with Kamala. They figured it would be a slam dunk perhaps
Picking a milktoast candidate to go up against a populist running on a cult nationalism platform is about as dumb of a decision as you can make. The DNC needs to realize that it either adapts to the current day and age and runs a popular and exciting younger candidate who represents the part of the party that's actually energized (more progressive) or it continues to try and find middle ground with Republicans under MAGA who simply don't exist anymore and relegate themselves and the US to single party fascist rule.
I'm not on either side, but your cultists are currently destroying America financially, socially, and diplomatically. The lefts cultists were mostly just annoying.
So I don't care how much we have in common, because there is a bright clear line. You voted for this and I didn't.
Where do you live? I'm in the Midwest and I see MAGA, lock Biden up, Trump 2028 things every single day multiple times. Hell, my wife has some coffee mugs that say "Liberal Tears" on them (from before she met me).
Not surprising that the further from civilization you get, the less you care about anyone else but yourself.
I do agree that the democrats have significant problems, but the difference between the two parties is like comparing driving over a pothole and like driving over the cliff into the grand canyon. It simply isn't helpful to discuss the "both sides" issue anymore when one party is actively engaging is dismantling the separation of powers, and blatantly breaking laws as fast as humanly possible.
democrats lose elections because democrats dont vote for them when they dont like them.
republicans win elections because the same morons show up every election and vote for whatever slop is put on the ballot for them. because this guy is going to be the one to finally kill the gay people and make me pay 0 taxes.
thats why its always a talk about "voter turnout".
If pretty much anyone else was president, it wouldn't be tanking this bad. Usually, I would say the president doesn't have that big a direct impact on things. For the most part, the president doesn't control how things go.
In this case, trump is single handedly destroying the economy, our international relations, etc etc. It's as astounding as much as it's horrifying and depressing that one man can so easily just obliterate so much.
Everyone should be re-evaluating whoever is in the office if they've made this exact set of decisions. Would be screaming to remove Kamala too if she did this.
Does no one remember the “Kamala Crash” controversy with the stock market that reversed in 24 hours? We already saw how they handled any stock market dips.
Ironically so would Democrats because they are a self defeating party. Republicans love the least qualified candidates and Democrats need the perfect candidate or they won’t vote.
To be fair, everyone on the left would love for him to be impeached (again). Actually I would prefer he were hanged for treason. Can we make that happen?
US politics is ruled by people with an IQ of an elementary kid. It’s all about feelings now. When I think about aliens being out there or us being aliens to others, I see why we never make contact. We get to a point of life where even though we are more advanced than 100 years ago, we are less educated
He's still doing dumb things that prevent business from growing in the UK, giving billions of pounds of aid to Ukraine. Plus, he signed a 100-year agreement with them. What a massive commitment. All while we have a deficit.
He's not abolishing the DEI initiative. Millions of £££ goes into those programmes. And there's two tier policing because of it. I say this as an Asian from a Muslim Family, we don't need this crap that's taking our tax money away.
He's linked to the muslim child grooming gangs, too. It's not a conspiracy. Look into Raja Miah on Twitter. He's a Bengali Muslim who's worked for the government. He's been in a few podcasts, too, so I'd recommend looking for those on YouTube. They're about an hour long and worth the listen. Listen to the one from Andrew Gold.
I wish we could talk about these things without people labelling each other "far right" or "far left" and whatnot.
