Crazy how trade wars affect trade

538

u/justbs 9d ago

Who would’ve guess. Nobody saw it coming

47

u/mynameisjoenotjeff 4d ago

I'm greatly missing those gains..

319

u/buythedipnow 9d ago

I know that I for one did Nazi it coming

98

u/ShortsAndLadders 9d ago

Stonk goes up. Stonk goes down. You can’t explain that.

78

u/Altruistic-Cat-7531 9d ago

In this situation the answer is usually magnets.

45

u/StrobeLightRomance 9d ago

Two wise men once spoke:

Water, fire, air and dirt
Fucking magnets, how do they work?
And I don't wanna talk to a scientist
Y'all motherfuckers lying, and getting me pissed

It is now obvious that they were referring to anomalies in the trading game.

11

u/bleeding_heart687 9d ago

This is the most understood line in American literature, they were referring to "fucking magnets" a distinct branch of physics which is largely unknown.

15

u/tatojah 9d ago

Physicist here.

This is the electromagnetism subfield called eromagnetism. Most who dedicate their life to it become pariahs in the scientific community.

And deservedly so. Magnets have rights and aren't there to indulge your depravity.

2

u/ShredGuru 9d ago

So you are saying it IS a miracle, Scienceman?

2

u/Viddlemethis 9d ago

As a scientist it is clearly the fault of Jewish space lasers. And Biden.

Fake news Or something

1

u/JaxTaylor2 8d ago

A fact little known to the wider scientific community is that the left hand rule was actually developed by eromagnetists investigating the Hall effect in relation to.. er.. “viscous fluids” moving through a.. um.. “cylinder” oriented perpendicularly to a magnetic field. This was where the first idea for a toroid shaped magnet was developed, for.. obvious reasons.

So next time you’re not sure which way the charges will move under the influence of a current moving ⊥ to a magnetic field, you can thank Eromagnetists and their free hand for helping you figure it out.

2

u/DapperGovernment4245 9d ago

I actually want to talk to a fucking magnet scientist now. Honestly don’t even care if they’re lying

1

u/JaxTaylor2 8d ago

Magnet scientist here. I can verify that most of the people you talk to in this line of work are bipolar.

1

u/DapperGovernment4245 8d ago

My pole is bi so I’m attracted to that.

1

u/FallAlternative8615 9d ago

Crazy how ICP was just a long game for indoctrination to fundie Christianity. Hence the being puzzled about at magnets and shit. Probably had stock in Faygo too.

2

You mean magats?

2

u/Rank_14 9d ago

Just don't get them wet.

1

u/Altruistic-Cat-7531 9d ago

Got it, magnets = gremlins.

1

u/SeamusMcBalls 9d ago

Motherfucking magnets?

2

u/Blue_Jays 9d ago

Only until you get them wet. Then, they're gone.

1

u/penty 9d ago

"Donnie says vacuum!"

1

u/Fluff_thetragicdragn 9d ago

Lolol hadn’t seen a Just Shoot Me quote in the wild 🩵

1

u/Guinness 9d ago

Magats? Yes. They seem to be the cause of market woes.

1

u/UKMEGA 9d ago

Unless they get wet /s

1

u/JizMaster69 9d ago

I don't understand em and I don't trust em

1

u/Competitive-Fly2204 8d ago

Average paste consumption by the average kindergardener has increased.

1

u/IGD-974 4d ago

How do magnets even work?

6

u/smytti12 9d ago

It's an old meme, but it checks out

2

u/riggs124 9d ago

I enjoyed that. Thank you

3

u/johnnyribcage 8d ago

Excellent O’Reilly call back. A bunch of Gen Z white male 2024 trump voters were 5 years old when that clown made that observation.

2

u/beekeeper1981 9d ago

Everythings computer

2

u/EfficiencySafe 8d ago

Enjoy the recession. Trump has fucked it up so bad it will probably be a 1930s Great Depression that lasted for 10 years until WW2. It's easy to trash the economy but it's very hard to fix it especially a country with as much debt as the USA.

6

u/Bitter-Good-2540 9d ago

Stonk goes nazi, stonk goes facism. You can't explain that

2

u/Stup1dMan3000 9d ago

The plan is things will be bad for 2 years then in 10-15 it will be better? Not sure S&P is going up anytime soon with this fast and furious administration with little success outside of reality TV

1

0

u/Davge107 9d ago

You can explain it now.

u/failbotron 9d ago

Fucking vaccines!

2

u/Mysterious-Job-469 8d ago

"The cost of living is exploding out of control to the point where no one has any fucking money and all anyone wants to do is blame Nazis"

Watch out for this talking point. They're crying over the cost of living *THAT THEY FUCKING CAUSED* to distract from literal nazis

1

u/Nivlac024 9d ago

nazi jokes arnt funny ann frank-ly i dont think you should make them.

1

u/Major-Frame2193 9d ago

Little know fact as a child Elon’s favorite board game was Yahtzee! But he would pronounce it wrong 🤔or did he……🤔🤔🤔

1

u/TacticalSunroof69 9d ago

Yeah and you didn’t see me coming with my discretionary counter measures.

Documented.

1

u/TacticalSunroof69 9d ago

You a link in a long chain son if you know it or not.

Sit tight.

1

u/Strangeronthebus2019 9d ago

I know that I for one did Nazi it coming

Yup… there we go…

1

u/FeelingKind7644 8d ago

But did you see the nazis coming?

6

u/highlander145 9d ago edited 8d ago

1 guy did saw it coming and he is Warren Buffett.

1

u/Ina_While1155 8d ago

And then Trump went and started to try to devalue the dollar.....

6

u/heyeyepooped 9d ago

Nobody could have known.

8

u/_176_ 9d ago

I know a tremendous finance guy — very smart, the best — and even he said, "Nobody knows. Nobody could possibly know!" That’s how complicated it is. Even the top people, the real experts — not the phonies on TV — even they are saying it. Total uncertainty. Never seen anything like it. Unbelievable!

2

u/SquallFromGarden 8d ago

Is this "finance guy" Jim Cramer? Yeah, he would say "nobody knows" as opposed to "FOX gives me shitloads of money to be retarded and not know a fucking thing about the stock market".

2

u/Vortep1 9d ago

What's that? I'm just hearing about this for the first time. You are telling me this for the first time. -Trump

2

u/the_simurgh 9d ago

Anyone with a brain saw it coming.

2

u/joshine89 9d ago

Exactly. If only he would have warned the populace that he was going to put in place tarrifs. Would have been very helpful.

2

u/CompasslessPigeon 9d ago

I sold all my stonks and crypto the day after he was sworn in and im a fucking idiot.

2

u/BeefistPrime 9d ago

Except like every economist born after 1790

2

u/ConstantGeographer 9d ago

"Who would’ve guess. Nobody saw it coming" /s

2

u/Warm_Water_5480 9d ago

One day they'll write about this phenomen, until then I guess it's a mystery.

1

u/SluttyCosmonaut 9d ago

Next thing you know, people will start saying people get hurt in wars. Weird

1

u/No-Firefighter-1483 9d ago

including OP

1

u/Appropriate_Deal_256 9d ago

I sure fucking saw because it happen the last time

1

u/ernie-jo 9d ago

Quicksilver did…

1

u/Cernunnoos 9d ago

Seriously? Anyone who listend saw it coming. He had a whole book saying what he would do. Those who voted for the Orange Magat bare direct responsibility. The ones that didn't vote at all bare moral responsibility. He put a gun to our collective heads, cocked the trigger, promised not shoot, and denied there was a gun.

1

u/Loud-Tomatillo-38 9d ago

Reap what ya sow

1

u/BigData8734 9d ago

Well, at least nobody in this sub😂

1

u/Hike_it_Out52 9d ago

I'm convinced it's intentional. Cause foreign investors to pull out, shut down medium and smaller businesses and allow the largest cooperations, who will survive the storm, to swallow up what's left and expand into the void, paying whatever they feel is best because the Executive branch is cutting the legs out from under Unions and working class. They're unfettered robber barons without even the constraints of society who dictated that the super wealthy give back to the lower classes. Think Carnegie Libraries of Rockefellers many donations. But I'm just a historian. What do I know?

1

u/Mediocritys_finest 9d ago

Many such cases

1

u/throwthisTFaway01 9d ago

How could Obama do this to us.

1

u/shemmy 8d ago

^ BARRACK HOUSSEIN obama. ftfy

1

u/evlhornet 9d ago

No one on the right anyway

1

u/cg13a 9d ago

Imagine if anyone had told us about this!

1

u/jivaos 9d ago

Who could have known that that the stock market hate tariffs.

1

u/imadog666 9d ago

I didn't know! Nobody knew! Nobody knew it could have that effect. I talked to many people, great people, the greatest, some would say, and none of them ever thought trade wars would be bad for the economy. But look, our economy is thriving! People are doing better than ever!

1

u/sakusii 9d ago

But i was told it will make america great again

1

u/Lawyerlytired 9d ago

It's not like tariffs in 1930 turned up the crisis of the great depression or anything.

1

u/facemelter124 9d ago

All they had to do is look at stock market returns under republican presidents vs democratic presidents and they would have known.

1

u/Anonymyne353 8d ago

Except those that did…they were ignored.

1

u/the_TIGEEER 6d ago

Also all the 0 taxes the Americans now have remeber that?!

1

u/Effective_Fun_69 6d ago

What about all economists saying it's terrible for economy for the past +50 years?

1

u/Street-Wear-2925 5d ago

Wrong, most people saw this last year. I know I did and booked an immediate appointment with my Investment Advisor. After the Election the markets would be in constant turmoil and I needed advice. I still in a holding pattern, but, ready to jump just in case.

1

u/chestofpoop 5d ago

We will have huge trade wars. Some would say the biggest, and I think you're going to like it very much. The Democrats don't like trade wars, they want to take your trade wars away. It's all computer.
