Every major airport in the world has a McDonald’s. They figure out how to make their bullshit food using local products. They make the food in a different country, sell the food in a different country and send the U.S. franchising fees. Why the hell would we want to bring back manufacturing? We make intellectual property.
Imagine making a fortune franchising the right to sell very unremarkable food in unremarkable cafes. Then also franchising the rights to sell branded but otherwise generic drinks in same places across the globe, getting customers world wide to buy all that crap, and even then not thinking you'd already won the game of domination.
America has a long way to fall from where they are if they piss off the world.
