What if he's right though, and 2025 is actually the best year the US will have in the coming decades...

134

u/GIC68 2d ago

Considering what's probably coming, 2025 might actually be the best (i.e. least catastrophic) year for a very long time.

71

u/Playingwithmyrod 2d ago

Not to fear monger too much but if they can’t talk Trump down from these we are truly fucked. The entire world will pull away from the US in terms of trade and hand China insane economic power. If things get too bad and countries start to decouple their economies from the USD as a reserve currency then we are so unbelievably fucked.

58

u/OkDescription4243 2d ago

Honestly they probably will anyway. You can’t count on a trade partner that you can’t count on.

17

u/capncanuck00 2d ago

Bingo. Canadian here. How can we ever go back to what we had before. If the president can just simply ignore trade agreements on a whim then they aren’t worth the paper they are written on. All trust is gone from this point forward.

7

u/AberrantKitsune 2d ago

The "president" needs to be forcibly removed in all honesty.

3

u/retiredincostarica 1d ago

I'm old enough to remember the violent protests of the '70's and wouldn't be surprised if we have poltically related violence in the future if Trump ignores the U.S. Constitution. I wonder what the odds are in Vegas on armed conflict.

2

u/mattnificient 2d ago

We are stuck with him for two to four years. High likely the Dems will take back Congress in 2027 and will impeach him straight off, but Senate won't have the votes to convict.

2

u/retiredincostarica 1d ago

Mid terms are less than 2 years away. If the damage the idiot is doing hasn't subsided by then MAGA might lose both houses, depending on how bad the recession is and at least he'll be politically neutered.

6

u/OkDescription4243 2d ago

As an American it is sickening to see our greatest resource destroyed; our reliability. A T-note will be good, our agreements will be honored and our currency you can take that to the bank.

1

u/retiredincostarica 1d ago

I have advised my relatives in Germany that the U.S. should not ever be regarded as anything more than another competitor. They are not Europe's ally. Times have changed, the voters in the U.S. could care less about Europe's security. The generations that remember Russian aggression are all dying out. When I visit my family this summer they will get an earful from me about how they have had eight years, since Trump's last administration to prepare for what's coming and did nothing so they share some of the blame. IMO, Canada should be doing the same.

29

u/Playingwithmyrod 2d ago

Oh I agree the damage is done and will be lasting. This isn’t shattered confidence because of Trump alone, its shattered confidence that the US population can elect competent leaders. Even if the next administration is friendlier these relationships will take a loooong time to mend.

11

u/Xijit 2d ago

It isn't just Trump and his direct appointments; those are easy to get rid of.

It is the purges of rational employees & emplacement of MAGA fanatics will either take generations to wash out.

3

u/Lumpy-Succotash-9236 2d ago

I can't believe people aren't literally shouting at Trump either behind the scenes or in public. Watching Rome burn is fucking wild

2

u/Playingwithmyrod 2d ago

I’m sure they are. He just fires them. He just wiped the national security council of any non MAGA. Last time he at least had adults around him. This time he ensured that only the deep throaters could so much as speak to him.

-3

u/GooseDaPlaymaker 2d ago

I don’t agree. There are too many times a world leader has expressed how they do not hold the American people in contempt as they do DJ & Musk. The world would love us to ‘move on as quickly as possible’ from our government leaders.

This IS Trump & Elon’s pot of mess alone, and the world acknowledges that.

9

u/Playingwithmyrod 2d ago

It’s not about contempt, it’s about risk. If there’s even a chance the American people elect someone like this again other countries have now seen how disastrous that can be. They have to start thinking about what to do long term to mitigate risk. They would love to have us back as an ally and that time will come but long term trade relations will take much longer to swing back in our favor.

1

u/BluBetty2698 2d ago

I hope you're right...🙏...

3

u/IggysPop3 1d ago

The finance minister of France already said something to the effect of not having Wisconsin voters decide every 4 years if the USA can be trusted to keep their deals. They’ve already decided to move on without us.

1

u/NutsonYoChin88 2d ago

Big orange isn’t thinking that far ahead. Tariff machine go burrrrr

1

u/SuperDaveOzborne 1d ago

What if China and other counties start unloading US debt?

1

u/grathad 1d ago

Even if trump backs down it's already too late

-11

u/D3ATHTRaps 2d ago

No, people forget china also burned alot of bridges the last 4 years. Especially to their neighbours. If anything, globalism is on the verge.

13

u/Playingwithmyrod 2d ago

Based on what? Vibes? They lead the US in total exports and set a record last year for exports. Nothing is declining. They just aligned themselves with Korea and Japan to retaliate against the US tariffs. Those countries never work together and we just have them a common enemy.

-3

u/D3ATHTRaps 2d ago

Their entire manufacturing sector is entirely relying on subsidies.

The last i looked a month ago, i think in was 52% of their businesses are in the red.

Unemployment in the youth is still higher.

They just bailed their 4 biggest banks that hold tier 1 capital a few days ago. Part of the recprd exports is also because warehouses have been overstocking ahead of these tariffs

10

u/Playingwithmyrod 2d ago

And now the entire world is going to look to them. It doesn’t matter if they got there in unsustainable ways, the road is paved and they are more positioned to take on additional trade now because of it, now in more sustainable trade relations rather than subsidies.

-9

u/D3ATHTRaps 2d ago

Like i said, china already burned alot of bridges. These wont be very cooperative agreements. Alot of industry already left china, and its clear china has subsidized industries in order to keep the entire world by the balls on certain things. Super powers are done. Regional powers is where it'll be at

9

u/Playingwithmyrod 2d ago

Again based on what? Covid? They are doing more trade now than ever. Whatever bridges were burned have either been mended or were not consequential in the grand economic scheme of things. A lot of industry let China and went to places like Thailand and Vietnam to avoid the tariffs we already have on China. Expect now those countries ALSO have tariffs on them. China has subsidized heavily and you can argue it wasn’t sustainable, but we just handed them the off ramp to sustainability as the rest of the world shifts their focus away from the US.

-1

u/D3ATHTRaps 2d ago

No, many things.

Hostilities towards neighbours in the south china sea, including... well everyone literally. The chinese fish illegally in their legal waters, and their ships harass the philipines.

Threats were made back when china was beginning to shake thinga up to punish the countries taking some of the countries manufacturing moved to (vietnam especially).

Supporting russia in the ukraine war (albeit nowadays they avoid it)

The only spheres china will have a strong presence in will likely be south america and africa easily, in their own region, they are watched alot more closely. With americans being potentially unable to assert protecting people there, the chinese will very likely show their fangs

Cramer playing both sides.

2

u/DCRevolutionary 2d ago

Oh crap I just realized you're right. The wording is perfect. He nailed it! This is as good as things are going to be for a long time.

2

u/danxrausch 17h ago

You know, you might have a point.

1

u/Candlelight_Fant4sia 16h ago

Tbh I hope I'm wrong, but I'm also keeping my expectations very low.

1

u/HoilCheck 2d ago

I really hope so dude, but it's not looking that way.

1

u/Adventurous-Sir444 2d ago

If your short and sitting on a pile of cash... Then yes!

1

u/Candlelight_Fant4sia 2d ago

I actually am ;)

2

u/Adventurous-Sir444 1d ago

Legend

1

u/Adventurous-Sir444 1d ago

I managed to switch my 401k before the announcement. The adviser had massive warning labels on their website warning that markets are volatile and just to ride it out. 😂

1

u/Candlelight_Fant4sia 1d ago

I put my superannuation (Aussie private - and essentially only - pension) all in cash last year, ~4.5% with zero risk, and told everyone I know. Before that, it was 40% ASX200 / 60% MSCI world excl. Aus and made massive gains, now it would be decimated though.

1

u/Tacocats_wrath 2d ago

I am going to remain bearish until Cramer says he is preparing for 2026 to be the worst year in decades.

1

u/NutsonYoChin88 2d ago

Hahahaha seriously? Look at what your president has done, it’s going to be a very bear market this year and people will be holding if they’re smart or selling at a loss.

1

u/Candlelight_Fant4sia 2d ago

Hahaha it seems you didn't understand anything I wrote at all, ask someone to explain it to you... also my country doesn't have a president, we have a prime minister ;)

0

u/NutsonYoChin88 2d ago

I guess you aren’t smart enough to explain it to me? So sure, I can ask someone else :)

1

u/dimitri000444 1d ago

Hey, I'm someone else. He means what if Trump fucks things up so bad that the years after this just get worse and worse.

-2

u/Infinite-Property-72 2d ago

What if he’s wrong.

10

u/Candlelight_Fant4sia 2d ago

Then 2025 could be the best year for the next few centuries... that's a very long and great depression...

2

u/mattnificient 2d ago

The greatest of all time.

I'm 55 years old and have been watching this clown for decades. Why is anyone still believing him? He runs a pump and dump scheme.

4

u/mattnificient 2d ago

OMG, I am 57 and have always thought of him as absurd and some people absolutely think he is the bomb. It's like I'm in a fever dream.

3

u/ChewyTheDog12 1d ago

The vast majority of Trump supporters are bigoted idiots who only care about social issues disguised as politics ("wokeness", DEI, etc). They see all the pointless EOs and policies passed targeting these issues and see them as a "win". When Trump inevitably fucks something up, they will deny it and defend him by drawing from the deck of Pointless Policy cards and go, "but he's owning the Libs and saving America cause he banned transgender women from playing in womens' sports!"

As long as he continues to cater towards his supporters' bigotry then he is free to do whatever he wants.

2

u/retiredincostarica 1d ago

I agree with a lot of this but the Democrats share some blame. The working class used to vote for them and somehow those people have been duped into believing that Republicans ( are there really any left or are they all just MAGA ass hats?) are on their side while continuing to give more money to the already rich in the form of tax cuts. How did that happen and aren't Democrats responsible for it in some way, like shitty messaging or emphasizing the whole DEI "wokeness" part of their platform over economic issues?

3

u/ChewyTheDog12 1d ago

That's definitely part of it too, I was just too lazy to add it to my comment. Had Kamala Harris spent less time talking about these social issues that, in the grand scheme of things, really don't matter to a president and focused on emphasizing what her admin's economic plan would be, then it definitely would've helped her out, maybe even secured her victory, especially since she was just shoehorned into everything.

Add to that being vice president of the administration that """caused"""" inflation, she was doomed from the start.

Unfortunately both parties have been duped into believing that the only thing their supporters care about is whether or not trans people should be treated like humans or people of a different skin color should be treated as equals.

13

u/redy__ 2d ago

Jackie, keep in mind, if you are mean to your friends, they will not invite you to their parties anymore.

5

u/ReleasePristine3040 2d ago

Can I steal this?

4

u/redy__ 2d ago

100%. Spread the love

19

u/TopoftheBog32 2d ago

This administration was given a terrific economy and stock market unbelievably only a few months later we see a free fall on both with no bottom in site.

4

u/Ok_Helicopter4276 2d ago

I absolutely have a bottom in sight.

Just look at the Dow’s all time chart and draw a straight line from the beginning through 2000, and extend it to today. I really don’t see us dropping below the 30,000 level because the government will step in, but it’s still a long >25% drop from where we are today. If the government doesn’t act though I think the true floor is 20,000.

6

u/Sagonator 2d ago

My guy, this will work only if the current government is logical. There is no bottom.

1

u/mattnificient 2d ago

Exactly, this admin defies past norms as a rule...as a principal.

3

u/Numerous-Process2981 2d ago

 the government will step in

Oh fuck…

0

u/dimitri000444 1d ago

The current situation is because the current government did step in. And they did so in the worst ways imaginable.

It's hard to imagine a sequence of actions done by the government that would make the US land up in a worse way.

1

u/La1zrdpch75356 2d ago

National debt 37 trillion and growing every second. Dems have a solution? Please outline for this Independent. I haven’t heard any solutions other than raise taxes.

5

Between this and Buffet selling so much you people with actual money invested should have known 🥲

4

u/Dangersloth_ 2d ago

So what you’re saying is Jim Cramer is full of sh*t

7

u/MkeyDontLikey 2d ago

This administration literally spreads disease and misinformation. They truly encapsulate the mark of the devil. How the how can things get better from here?

6

u/Exktvme4 2d ago

Or this. From a few years ago now, but they made a literal golden idol of him and the christian dominionists now in charge were like 🤷‍♂️👍. Seems like they don't believe in the bible quite as much as they spout off about lol

3

u/sweet-sweet-olive 2d ago

He is such a fucking blow hard. How is this dumbass still on TV?

I'd love to see what would happen to someone's portfolio if all they did was the opposite of Cramer's recommendations.

2

u/redblack_tree 2d ago

Someone ran a shadow account doing exactly that a few years back. For a year, it was -37%, In a year where the SP 500 closed 10%+.

The guy is serving their masters well, certainly not helping retail.

1

Why didn't I listen to Jim and sell everything yesterday. *sighs*

1

u/Mike-ggg 1d ago

It’s funny how things can change so quickly. In December most economists and brokers were very bullish on 2025. Now they’re running for the exits.

Policies matter. Inconsistent policies make investors nervous. Rapid large changes in policies cause panic. Disruptions to supply chains and external changes to agreements with trading partners (like tacking on tariffs to the original deals) hurts businesses. We’ve come along way from December and not in the right direction. Polling more than confirms that.
