Have they even said thank you?! At least they are wearing suits!

21

u/Rushing_Russian 1d ago

They wear tuxedos not suits that's just inappropriate, raise tarrif's to 2000000000000%

4

u/Snr_Wilson 1d ago

Of course they're wearing tuxedos. It's after 6pm, what are they? Farmers?

1

u/Signal_Reach_5838 1d ago

Good lord, Lemon!

Hey, you shut your mouth. Leave us outta this crap.

4

u/GetNooted 1d ago

I agree noot noot

4

u/pickled_penguin_ 1d ago

I..uh..missed the last meeting. Is 'noot' how we, uh...ya know...type our noise?

5

u/RockApeGear 1d ago

Well, we lock them in zoos, and their captive slavery generates income for the zoos, so there's that. After all, why not? Why shouldn't we profit off their adorable looks?

1

u/Farseyeted 23h ago

We annexed several of their guano islands to bolster domestic agriculture and arms manufacture for which we paid them nothing.

1

u/sometimesgetslost1 19h ago

Did the penguins help us reclaim the airports in the Revolutionary War?

1

u/fairportmtg1 19h ago

Did they say thank you once for Happy Feet?

Our pilots a penguin, and he’s been drinking.. but Penguins can’t fly!

we got our own penguins. We don't need penguins from south america

13

u/CL_55z 1d ago

The pittsburgh penguins are owed by Mario Lemieux. I just hope he takes us with him.

2

u/Fishydeals 23h ago

Fucking Mario. When will he pay those honest, hardworking, suit wearing, high performing penguins?

He might be playing 4D chess, but he is using a checkers set and doesn't understand the rules. It's only a matter of time before he throws the board off the table like a 5 year old kid when he realises he's losing.

7

u/thekyledavid 1d ago

“Checkmate!”

“Don, we’re playing Uno”

11

u/PUNd_it 1d ago

Critical point: chess is notoriously 2D

5

u/creampop_ 1d ago

I'd even argue 3D since it does have an element of time/sequencing

2

u/SleepyTaylor216 1d ago

Counter point: Most chess sets are made in 3d. Checkmate atheists.

0

u/thekyledavid 1d ago

2D is regular chess

3D is chess with multiple boards added

4D is chess with multiple boards and time manipulation added

2

4

"Some people seem to think Trump's playing chess, when most of the time the staff are just trying to stop him from eating the pieces."

I loathe how often I'm forced to reflect on that quote, of late.

1

u/Keji70gsm 1d ago

I would love to see him play chess...

1

u/Anxious_Ad936 1d ago

I'd maybe buy 2d fingerpainting, and that brown paint isn't actually paint

1

I loved how he put tariffs on Russian goods

EDIT: Sorry I accidentally dropped this "/s" sorry my fellow regards

-16

u/iDarCo 1d ago

Russia is sanctioned by the US.

The whole tariff circus is laughable but russia not being on that goofy list isn't the smoking gun you think it is.

20

u/Whyn0t69 1d ago

There are other countries sanctioned by the US which are on that list.

1

u/iDarCo 1d ago

Fair point that I did not consider

4

u/writers_block 19h ago

That was... a remarkable thing to see on the internet. No fight, no bullshit, just "oh, yeah I guess so."

It makes me sad that this is amazing, but it is, in fact, amazing.

5

u/idoeno 23h ago

True, however the US government is not enforcing the sanction anymore since trump took office. Agent krasnov is doing the job putin assigned him, burning America to the ground...

20

u/Dokibatt 1d ago

Look, nobody’s talking about it, but these penguins — these penguins are taking advantage of us like you wouldn’t believe. Tremendous advantage. They’re down there in Antarctica, okay, sitting on all that ice — beautiful ice, the best ice — and they’re laughing at us. They’re laughing! These penguins, they don’t pay anything for defense. We protect their ice, their fish, everything, and what do we get? Nothing. Zero. And they waddle around in their little tuxedos, very fancy, very elite, looking down on everybody. Believe me, I know more about penguins than anybody. People are saying these penguins are stealing our fish. Millions and billions of fish. It’s a disaster what they’re doing to our oceans, absolute disaster. And the fake news won’t cover it, won’t cover the penguin problem. It’s sad, very sad. We need to be tough on penguins, very tough, or they’ll keep taking advantage. Not good!

3

u/Calm-Reason718 1d ago

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

2

u/WholeFactor 13h ago

They're eating the fish, they're eating the shrimp!

37

u/actingseeker 1d ago

It's a prelude to war. Tank an economic hit now so he can stop relying on trade with countries that he'll either be at war with or can sanction him later.

24

u/Neuro_Futurist 1d ago

Maybe. I think hes monetizing this - take bribes for tariff exemptions

24

u/Gym_Noob134 1d ago edited 1d ago

Several angles:

1.) His diehard base are mostly in devastated former industrial sectors. These people don’t benefit from the modern “city lib” economy (except for being a nanny state burdened upon financially productive blue states). But let’s be real, these people aren’t putting two and two together. As long as Trump promises to bring industry back, and shows he’s “trying”, they will remain diehard.

2.) Digital free banking. Trump and his cronies fanboy all over 1800’s American free banking. They want to bring back free banking but they want to digitize it. They also want to make crypto USD & allow banks to mint their own bank-institutionalized crypto currencies. They want to make the world reliant on digital USD as Fiat petrodollar USD loses its luster.

3.) Self-enrichment for insiders. I can only imagine the number of puts and shorts these fuckers placed on the stock market. After liquidating at the top, of course. They’re cashing out all the way down. On top of his trillions in proposed tax cuts for the rich. Then as it bottoms out they’ll gobble up every fucking asset with their dragon horde.

4.) Shadow alignment with Russia. It’s not just about Trump being an agent or Trump/Putin being friends. The western world won’t tolerate a lawless US. Russia will. If Republicans can cement indefinite power and are willing to turn a blind eye to Russia’s wrongdoings. Russia will do the same for America. A shitfest of crony oligarch quid pro quo. It’ll start gradually with easing sanctions, increasing trade, and eventually a formal announcement of partnership and open/warm relations between the two nations.

5.) Preparing for war, like the other user said.

6.) Using tariffs as a negotiating tool to bring Western nations to the table. Trump wants to replace Breton Woods with the Mar-a-Lago Accord. He wants green nations to inflate their currency above USD, and he wants them to pay for military protection. In exchange he gives tariff relief. In short, he wants the western world to sign on as vassal states of America.

4

u/RA-HADES 1d ago

Excellent even numbered points you've made here.

1

u/EasyPleasey 20h ago

Is this an AI reference?

2

u/NeoMaxiZoomDweebean 19h ago

3 and the sucking Russian cock thing are the only thing this administration thinks about when they wake up in the morning.

There is no deeper motivation. Everything else is a distracrion.

1

u/Gym_Noob134 16h ago

They’ve literally laid out their plans.

Stop thinking there isn’t a more nefarious agenda other than money. They’re after consolidating the world order to be centralized around them.

-2

u/actingseeker 1d ago

I really hope you're right!

7

u/Neuro_Futurist 1d ago

It’s a sad state of affairs that best case he’s exploding economy for blatant corruption. But idk. It’s a safe bet he will do the worst possible thing at every cross roads

6

u/YusoLOCO 1d ago

He doesn't have a plan. He's an idiot surrounded by idiots and he's to old to be reasoned with.

How I think tis will go in the worst case scenario:

The US economy enters a depression with hyperinflation.

He starts a war with China to stay in power, which the US will loose.

The US breaks apart.

1

u/AwesomeDog59 1d ago

He starts a war with China to stay in power, which the US will loose.

Imma stop u right there both countries have nukes both will use nukes in direct war, which means both countries will lose (when every nuclear power launches theirs too) as will the rest of the world as Armageddon comes and nuclear fallout swallows those of us that survived the expllsions and shockwaves.

Warmongering is just as unrealistic as fearmongering war between nuclear powers & military allies. Pls stop pretending nucleear bombs dont exist, ty.

He wants to secure the whole continent. That's why he talked about Canada, Mexico, Panama channel and Greenland. Si vis pacem, para bellum (If you want peace, prepare for war). I don't think he wants to occupy those countries. He wants to have strong, reliable and controlled allies.

1

u/King_Saline_IV 20h ago

Fuck off "secure". He talks about Greenland because he doesn't understand what a Mercator projection is and thinks it's gigantic.

And since he can't read, he doesn't know the US already has military bases in Greenland.

6

u/gamebloxs 1d ago

Nah you just don't get it if we tariff those penguins it will make American business make there own penguins so we can control our own resources its all very high level stuff

5

u/Zyzz2179 1d ago

Saw a comment saying they did that to ensure no loopholes….

MAGAs will literally replace Brawndo for water if Trump promotes them.

-3

u/_HIST 1d ago

But that's exactly why they did it. Only idiots would say the tariffs were a good idea. But the reason even largely uninhabited places were also included is exactly to ensure they're not used to avoid them. Your comment just shows your poor understanding.

Memes are funny, reality not so much

4

u/Zyzz2179 1d ago

You do know doing that breaks the US customs law? Are you insane enough to think that large manufacturing companies (with millions of their product going through the US customs) would blatantly break the law? What are we talking about here?

Even if they can, they need to reroute their shipping to countries that only got the 10% tariffs first before they can go to the US. And yes, the items itself needs to have some transformation. You can’t simply slap a label on a product that comes from China to make it come from Bangladesh. Why would anyone choose an unhabitated island uncapable of receiving hordes of shipments to do that when you have other countries like singapore? There is no logical reasoning to put tariffs on those countries no matter how you spin it.

Tf are we talking about here?

3

u/Electronic_Feed3 22h ago

That doesn’t make any real sense lol

Is this the average voter?

2

u/blacksaltriver 1d ago

No, they did it because the data they are using is faulty and they didn’t do basic checks. Some importers, not connected to Australia or Heard Island, filled forms incorrectly and this is the result. The people Trump is relying on for important economic and international advice are incompetent.

10

u/No_Page_500 1d ago

I think you're overestimating something about Trump voters...

Trump bankrupted casinos. Plural. Business model who's motto is "The house always wins." He bankrupted money printers. Several. But yeah, rich fucks will buy everything when shit bottoms out, just like with covid. One might even suspect that this was the plan all along, to give the American oligarchy positions to buy everything. They will multiply their assets again and you will have even less. And you WILL take it for fear of losing what little you have. They'll make sure you have just enough to lose to make you passive, complicit. This is America. Thank fuck I wasn't born there.

3

u/Grimlord_XVII 23h ago

Has Trump ever run a successful business? And I mean like "being involved in", not buying an existing functional business and then leaving it running in the background.

3

u/firethorne 20h ago

Honestly, I'm still thinking the trump vote was just as much rooted in them not willing to vote for a black woman, and the economy was just their bs cover to pretend they're not racist bigots.

If you can see a guy going on an insane rant before the election about how immigrants will eat your cat, and you can still say, "Yep, that's my guy!" then you're racist too.

3

u/Sulli_Rabbit 14h ago

I don't know if anyone has seen this, but this is just how stupid Donald Trump is:

Madagascar: 8.1% Tariff, Trump slapped a 47% Tariff on them.

Vietnam: 5.1% Tariff, Trump imposed a 46% Tariff

Singapore had a 0% Tariff, he imposed a 10% Tariff.

Thailand had a 6.3% Tariff, Trump imposed a 36% Tariff.

The EU only had a 2.7% Tariff and even when it "ranged" it only got as high as 5%. Trump imposed a 20% Tax.

And of course the islands that are inhabitable, he charged the blanket 10% and another island that only has a US Military Base on it, a 10% tariff.

This is the level of stupidity we are working with.

5

Trump Bankrupted 4 casinos. Casinos are a business model where his customers literally gave him their money to play games of chance that they had overwhelming statistical odds of losing.

I can only think of two plausible explanations for how Trump managed to bankrupt a casino:

1) Wasting vast sums of money on tacky ass, fake gold decorations. And overspending to hire washed up former celebrities as “entertainment.”

2) Rampant corruption and fraud in the form of money laundering for organized crime and Russian oligarchs. Then pocketing his share of the profits rather than reinvesting them into his casinos.

The answer is probably a little of the first. Many other casinos indulge in this kind of lavish spending “to attract customers.” Just not at the same scale as Trump’s idiotic obsession with fake gold decor and has been celebrities…

And a whole lot of the second! Trump is precisely the kind of guy who would think it was “cool” to cozy up to seedy criminals by laundering their money for them through his casinos.

But naturally they would take advantage of his obvious stupidity. And he would undoubtedly have tried to write off his planned expenses related to paying these crooks off at his tables. As the normal, routine lo losses that all casinos face from time to time.

r/Trump is a rage bait at this point. I just checked and theres so many posts on how happy they are with the whole shit show. In one hand I hope it gets so bad they suffer and regret their words. In another hand, too many people who don't abide by the orange clown will also suffer.

1

u/auldnate 1d ago

The real tragedy of Trump are the innocent people already clinging to the fringes of society who will be cut loose in the name of “efficiency…”

Also known as devastating budget cuts to critical social safety net programs. In order to o “pay for” the GOP’s Tinkle Down tax cuts for the wealthy. Which amount to the rich pissing in the rest of our faces and calling it a golden shower!

Idk which is worse, if they actually got their tariff calculation from ChatGPT or if their idea was so simple that every LLM comes up with the same one, but the staggering incompetence of these people can’t be overstated.

Edit link

“A number of X users have realized that if you ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or Grok for an “easy” way to solve trade deficits and put the US on “an even playing field”, they’ll give you a version of this “deficit divided by exports” formula with remarkable consistency.”

1

u/coffee-x-tea 22h ago

Exactly.

Those people see in Trump what they want to see.

Everything is so flat earth backwards.

They see something that doesn’t make sense in their world view and have to do some mental gymnastics to explain it rather than swallowing the bitter pill that the simpler answer is they were maybe wrong.

1

It's a reciprocal tariff. This means that Trump was under the impression that penguins were charging us much more for their exports to the US.

He put a Tariff on the island so countries can't use it to circumvent their own Tariffs, or at least I'm assuming. For example: China could set up a corporation there, and then use the island as the country of origin to reduce their tariffs.

It's also possible nobody fucking researched anything and there are that dumb. Who knows.

15

u/Mecanno 1d ago edited 1d ago

That’s not how it works. You can’t just bypass country of origin rules. Customs authorities require detailed documentation to prove where a product is made, including bills of materials, manufacturing records, certificates of origin, and clear descriptions of the factory location and processes performed. That’s what determines the country of origin. Basic processes like repackaging, sorting, or simple assembly don’t change that. If someone wants to claim a different country of origin, they’d have to shift substantial manufacturing operations, and even source raw materials locally. It’s not something that can be faked or worked around easily.

It is in fact idiotic to tariff penguins. It just shows how poorly thought out the whole plan was.

15

u/MyrrhSlayter 1d ago

Not them. Conservatives are strangely silent on why he's tariffing an island only inhabited by penguins. Maybe he didn't like their suits?

Do we know if those penguins were wearing tan suits at least? Because that would add up for conservatives then.

I’m not saying I do or don’t support what it happening. However, a bit of thinking makes you realize how if he didn’t tariff every island of oceania, then Australia would start exporting goods from those deserted islands to avoid tariffs on a technicality. Again, I’m being completely neutral here. I know if the tables were turned, we’d find a crappy technicality like that as well

I think it's great that you're neutral, however I think you are missing some key information. When you export items to a country you are required to submit paperwork on the country of origin which includes bills of materials, manufacturing records, certificate of origin, factory location etc etc. Country of origin is very well defined. As what you are pointing out is a pretty obvious/easy way to get around tariffs, this was considered decades ago and accounted for.

This is why China built factories in other countries to bypass tariffs instead of just shipping it to the country, then shipping to America.

The average person doesn't care about the stock market. Think when you were young. My parents don't know anything about it. Average person cares about jobs and moving up and what their salary looks like. I don't believe the whole stock market directly influencesn jobs thing anymore. It's more of a medium influence. If companies are going to be forced to move back to America it will outweigh the stock market going up 150% in the past 5 months and then dropping 20 or 30%.

The average Joe is not as ignorant as you think. The average Joe knows stock prices are tied to their retirement fund and the propect of getting a raise, a bonus, or getting laid off. They might not be as autistic as we are, but they are aware of how stock market movements impact them at a broad level.

Sure the dumbest of the dumb don't understand basic economics, but if they're over 30 they probably remember how the GFC ruined everything for a few years.

90% of normal people don't know anything about the market dude. I stopped believing in the fairy tale of market go up means more job more success. It's bullshit. There is a light correlation yes, but not a complete one. Market has been up 150 percent over the past 5 years when the average is 8 plus the dividend. Only delusional people are having a melt down about market not go up straight line derp herp oh no my retirement guys!! That's the truth, keep up the down voted people. I only like saying the truth.

You're talking as if it's arcane wisdom that when stock prices go down it's the little people that suffer. Is this your first economic crisis?

Because they weren't taught about the market. On purpose. Because people who don't know how things work, won't be able to use it to climb the ladder.

Also, companies are already closing plants and laying off workers because of the crash. Those 900 people who lost their jobs today care very much. And that was just day 1. When the other countries start swinging back, it's gonna get worse.

Brother, a literal minor understands the stock market better then you. If a business is successful, naturally people will have more secure, possibly higher paying, jobs. How do you think retirement funds get formed out of curiosity? Tax. You know how tax works? If more people and businesses are successful, and making more more, they get more money taken from taxes. More taxes means that social security benefits, among other things, boost, and that affects retirement.

I think you underestimate the average person. Prices will go up undoubtedly, the average person will not ignore that.

Prices are already up, the average person is numb to it now
