Discussion [Question] Which watch is your ultimate "if you know, you know" flex?

Post image

What’s your favorite watch that only real watch nerds appreciate?

Let’s talk about the hidden gems (not the grails or hyped up releases lol) I'm talking about those quiet killers that fly completely under the radar to most people but when a fellow watch lover sees it, they know. Like the kind of piece that gets a quiet “Wait… is that the Omega Dynamic III?" (that weirdo racing dial from the '90s that Omega fans obsess over.)

Maybe it’s a vintage sleeper with a cult following or a microbrand that nailed the design without shouting about it. Could be a quirky movement, an obscure collab or just something with finishing so good it makes you double take under the right lighting. These are the watches you wear for you, not the 'gram.

Longines Legend Diver (No Date) was my pick to flex that "I hate date windows but love vintage vibes" energy. That clean ass dial and internal bezel is a pure class. No hype, just ‘oh shit, this guy gets it’ moments from real watch nerds 😂

Can’t wait to see what underrated heat you all are rocking. No basic Rolex bros! We want to see the weird shit that makes your watch nerd heart race!

My sub200 I've been wearing daily for 6 years it's well and truly bashed and beaten but keeps on ticking. Today being used to time water pulses and coal rounds on a Victorian boiler I'm running. I keep going to try on other watches specifically been looking at blackbays especially the 54 but I'd miss the date window and I find this far comfier than the larger models so can't justify the cost.

Which one should i choose pls. I know both are very versatile watch and honestly I’ve had my eyes set on the lacquered black omega but i heard that it’s like a scratch magnet and it scratches very easily? If so i would rather choose a rolex explorer. But enlighten me pls and share what you think? And is the AT doable or it scratches too easily and isn’t worth it.

I took a picture [H.Moser] Endeavour Blue Lagoon concept dial + Hirsch Paul

While I usually enjoy wearing the H. Moser & Cie Blue Lagoon on nylon straps, this Hirsch Paul is an excellent alternative—especially for summer. The alligator-embossed leather pairs perfectly with the dial’s elegance, while the rubber lining from Hirsch’s Performance series keeps things supremely comfortable and fully ready for summer. Sweat-proof, water-resistant, and elegant all at once. A strap that looks dressy but wears like a sports band? Yes! A great option when you want something dressier than a NATO but still built for the heat.

Discussion [Question] What’s your thinnest automatic watch?

Ironically enough, mine is a diver watch, my Omega Seamaster 200m from the 80s at 9.5mm. Thinner than my Omega Genève which is a little “dressier” and 11.5mm.

My more modern autos are in the 12.5-14mm range.

If I want something really thin, I’ll wear a quartz or one of my manual wind watches.

But I’d never really considered watch height or thickness when I was younger and lived in the South (and seldom wore long sleeves).

Living in a place with actual seasons now and being older and needing to dress up more for work and whatnot, the height of my watches, while not a primary consideration, has been something I pay more attention to.

So what’s your thinnest automatic watch (or just thinnest watch) and how much do you pay attention to these things?

THE ORIGINAL Turtle from SEIKO ...The 6309 divers come in two case variations: an earlier “cushion-cased” variant produced from 1976 to 1988 and a later “slimed-down case” variant produced from 1982 to 1988.Production of the first generation continued after the second (slim turtle) generation was introduced, and overlapped the second generation models, though in reduced number.

The second generation of 6309’s abandoned the cushion style case in favor of a revised round “slimed-down” case-style, which continues to be used almost unchanged by Seiko’s basic line of divers to this day. Other than the case, there are not many differences between the two generations of 6309’s. Besides the case, the only other differences worth noting were in the style of the dial.

Discussion [Chronographs] What do you use it for?

Do you use your chronograph regularly? If so, what activities do your perform with it?

I use my 1/10th Zenith El Primero Chronomaster to: - see how long my toddlers will last in a grocery store - see how long a drive from A to B will take - entertain my daughters by watching the 1/10th marker spin wildly as they trigger it

Drop the facade and let us know what you REALLY time with your Speedmaster Pros, Daytonas, and the like 😅

I took a picture [Seiko] Enamel Dial - Sarx049

Back in 2017, Seiko introduced a new addition to the Presage collection — a series of four watches, each featuring a hand-crafted enamel dial with elegant Roman numerals. Among them was the Seiko SARX049 (also known as SPB047), a clean three-hander that debuted at Baselworld. It draws inspiration from Seiko’s earliest timepieces while showcasing the art of traditional Japanese enamelling.

The standout feature of the SARX049 is undoubtedly its enamel dial, created by master craftsman Mitsuru Yokozawa and his team at Seiko’s headquarters in Japan. The glossy white enamel, contrasted beautifully by crisp black Roman numerals and lettering, offers excellent legibility in daylight and a level of refinement typically seen in much higher-end watches. It’s a fine example of Japanese craftsmanship, holding its own against Swiss counterparts in the same category.

The watch measures 40.5mm in diameter, 47.6mm lug-to-lug, with a thickness of 12.4mm and a 20mm lug width. It runs on the in-house 6R15 automatic movement with 23 jewels, beating at 21,600vph and offering a 50-hour power reserve. Accuracy is rated at -15/+25 seconds per day. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, and water resistance is rated at 100 meters, making it practical for everyday wear in any weather.

Discussion [Discussion] Do you have a favorite everyday strap material?

Post image
439 Upvotes

Is there a material you like to put all or most of your watches on? Maybe you only wear leather for formal occasions. Maybe you are always an OEM bracelet guy. Maybe every watch you own gets put on a fabric strap.

For me, my three everyday watches go on Perlons, and for formal events the GQ gets shell cordovan. My ideal everyday watch is light, breathable, and the strap doesn’t care if it gets wet.

For the past few months I’ve been doing a deep-dive into the world of watches, looking at a ton of different models from a ridiculous number of brands. For nearly a decade I’ve been an Apple Watch guy, and while I still plan on wearing that for more casual wear I found myself wanting something different. Long story short, the Seiko Prospex line caught my eye and after originally deciding on the SPB383, I discovered this JDM exclusive model with a brilliantly subtle gray-blue dial that is just gorgeous. Super pleased with my purchase, but I already feel the itch to get more. 😮‍💨

I have been trying to find out more about this watch but am having no luck online. Can anyone tell me more about it? The movement appears to be somewhat operational. When I pop out the crown? The minute and hour hands move along but no ticking. I plan on taking it to a watch dealer to get it back up and running. Unsure if the lense can be polished or if it needs to be replaced. Thanks for any help

Discussion [Question] Metallic Bracelet or Leather Strap for Wedding Day? Need Advice!

Thumbnail
gallery
14 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m getting married soon and could use some help deciding on a small but surprisingly tricky detail—what kind of watch strap to wear on the big day.

Here’s the setup: I’ll be wearing a classic black tuxedo, and our wedding theme is “Wisteria Spring.” Think soft lavender and purple hues, delicate florals, light pastels—elegant, fresh, and a little romantic. The ceremony and reception will be mostly outdoors, with garden vibes and natural light playing a big part in the aesthetic.

Now, when it comes to my watch, I’m torn between a metallic bracelet (stainless steel, sleek, modern) or a leather strap (black, more understated and traditional). Both options have their merits, but I can’t decide which fits better with the tux and the overall vibe of the day.

Discussion [Question] SMP vs. Pelagos FXD - Which black dial diver to keep?

Post image
14 Upvotes

I’m at a crossroads with my watch collection and need your input! After realizing my lineup is dominated by black dials (Speedmaster 3861, BB54, SMP 300m, Pelagos FXD), I’ve decided to pivot toward more variety by consolidating my black dial watches first. Here’s the plan:

  • Giving the BB54 to my wife
  • Keeping the Speedy 3861 (sentimental value).

Now I have to pick one to rotate with the Speedy as my daily drivers and let the other one go to afford future purchases.

  • Omega Seamaster Professional 300m: I love its iconic design, premium finishing, and that gorgeous wave dial.

  • Tudor Pelagos FXD: I love its ultra-legible tool-watch vibe, lightweight wearing experience.

Which would you choose and why? Any thoughts welcome and are greatly appreciated.

Discussion [MIDO Ocean Star 39] It’s so beautiful

Post image
180 Upvotes

My first MIDO watch, and the 6th watch in my young collection. I swap between this and a Seiko Baby Alpinist currently. I was on the search for a nice dive watch, with a budget just a little over $1K. I was torn between the black/blue gradient version and the black/gray gradient which I obviously ultimately went with. I really appreciate MIDO’s willingness to take risks with their face design, and while some can be hit or miss, they absolutely nailed this watch face design considering it’s a diver.

This is my first watch with double-sided AR, as well quick micro adjustment - Two just insanely nice quality of life features. Excited to continue my watch collection journey into the future, but for now this one stands at the top of my set.

Discussion [Casio F168] Ok hear me out….

Post image
11 Upvotes

Does anyone know of someone who can make this in 18k??? I know I know… it’s been a dream build for me for a long time! I think it’s the best quiet flex, rocking a Casio everyone would just blink past it, but imagine telling someone ‘actually, it’s proper 18k’ would be so cool! And I just always wanted it. Even a thief wouldn’t care for it. 😂😂😂😂 well at least I hope.

I know probably no one does it, but anyway, if you know someone, I would be so so so appreciative.

Discussion [Question] What’s your one watch pick for the next 5 years?

Post image
741 Upvotes

You’re stuck with one watch for the next 5 years. No rotation, no GADA backups, no cheeky weekend swaps. Just you and your chosen piece, day in and day out. Your true daily driver. Your forever wristmate.

I’ll go first, I’d probably go with my Seiko SPB143. It’s been with me through a lot (don't wanna say this) wore it to my cousin’s wedding, accidentally banged it against a subway pole rushing to work and even spilled wine on it during a boys' night out (don’t ask 😅). Still looks amazing, still feels right on the wrist. It just fits into my life without me having to think twice.

Pick just ONE watch you'd actually wear every single day for five years straight. Not the watch you wish could do it all but the one you know would survive your real life. Tell me what it is and most importantly, why it's earned that trust.

[Question] What ist your favourit watch-colour?

What ist your favourit watch-colour? I prefer the green ones. Some people said, green is out. But i think green suits all occasions. Sport and dinner. Which colour do you think is "the" colour in 2025 and the next years? Black/white? Red/blue? Blue? Orange? White? Silver? Gold? Which colour is " no go" in your opinon and which colour is never out of fashion?

(P.S Mine is theTAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 in olive and titan)
