I need some help understanding what gear I want!

I’m considering working on a solo project. I need something to play backing tracks on. I’d likely also be singing and playing live electric guitar (but I don’t need guitar gear recommendations)

I need something that I can use for composition, playback, and it’d be great if I could easily transfer tracks on and off of a computer. It needs to support building and playing back a full song with multiple tracks, and with multiple sections (so, not looking for something that can only do one loop at a time.) It needs to support samples, and synthesis would be a plus too.

Do I want an SP404? MPC/MPK? or do I really just need a laptop?

I’ve never used it, but if you are looking for easy transfer between computer and device, and retaining the workflow, it sounds like the Ableton Move might be something to look into.
